I carry both a sidesword and a warhammer. Sidesword for cloths/leather, warhammer for face hugging tincans.

My maul-phobia has been cured. Helps so much when you get a feel for the reach of the weapon and get the first hit in.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Strategy against Mallet/Maul?

Hello all, long time c-rpg'r but this is my first post.

I have been having trouble with my setup against the knockdown effects of a mallet/maul. Their reach extends well beyond my 1H sheild/warhammer killzone, and when I get close enough I get knocked down if I miss the first hit.

I recognizable that footwork is important in avoiding the first blow, but other than ranged weapons, if you see a maul wielding stranger coming straight at you: What do you do?
