:!: :!: HARDLY RECOMMENDED :!: :!:
!IF YOU USE THE NON-STEAM VERSION, USE WARBAND VERSION 1.134 AND WAIT FOR THE OFFICIAL CRPG FIX.
MAKE SURE YOU USE THE NEWEST VERSION OF CRPG!!!
http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,4910.0.html
Anyway, still without steam, you can take the risk, and download 1.142 patch for Warband and

chadz doesn't support this way because of it's not verified by crpg developers,
but many player uses this, and everybody is happy, I had no negative feedback.
I don't know what update did chadz do to attach his mod to the out-of-dated Warband version,
so I don't recommend downloading the current cRPG version for this fix.
You can go through this forum and read replies: the responsibility is yours.
Making the following change means, that you take the risk of possible unwanted gameplay behavior.
The only neccessary step is the 3., but I mention some other things after going over some missunderstandings.
- Make sure you have the most up to date Warband version (1.142)!
- Go inside your Steam Library, right click on Warband -> Properties -> Local Files
and keep checking Local Cache Files' Integrity
until it's flawless & Make defragmagmentation too! (for safety's sake) - Don't do anything else, only edit Modules/cRPG/module.ini, and
ADD THIS LINE:
compatible_module_version = 1223
Thats all, it works, enjoy the game!
No hacking with steam, No multiple version, Working native, everything is beautiful.
(If you previously removed this line, insert it again into module.ini under the cRPG folder.
No reason I put it back, but you don't have to mess with this value:
compatible_with_warband = 1223
)

Sticky please, the easiest and fastest solution so far.
-
Worked for me, +1 for you.
-
THX man , u save my weekend))) :twisted:

Very elegant solution. +1
Thanks. I thank the heavens I found it, using an out of date version of Warband isn't an option.
I was disgusted at first when I saw, that I should have to revert the version to play the game again.
-
awesome solution Garrus ! thank you
-
Phew, I was already displaying withdrawal symptoms.
-
You saved my weekend aswell! Thank you, thank you, thank you, cheers!

Dam I cant find the module. ini folder
in the crpg folder?
-
It seems strange that this would work. Does that mean, theoretically, that you could run any version of M&B:W and it would work if you changed that line?
-
Don't think so, but in last 2 or 3 patches nothing has really changed (I mean in Native) they were just adding some operations and small fixes, mostly in SP.
-
Thanks.
-
Didnt worked for me :( :cry:
-
Dam I cant find the module. ini folder
in the crpg folder?
<Warband>/Modules/cRPG/module.ini, where
<Warband> := <FullDirectory>/mb_warband.exe
Sometimes <FullDirectory> := "C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/mountblade warband",
sometimes not :)
In my example:
<FullDirectory> := "C:/Program Files/Steam/steamapps/common/mountblade warband"
<Executable> := "mb_warband.exe"
There look for the "Modules" path.

clearly youre the man. gj.

Way to go Garrus, way to go.

I renamed a variable name, I didn't touch its value. Syntax changed, semantic behavior doesn't change.
If you intentionally give wrong version, then your client may be incompatible with the server, and it
can end up in wierd situations, if it works at all. I think it will interrupt your connection, but better not try.
cRPG has to match version with cRPG, not Warband inner version.
Mods should not die whenever a little bugfix comes out.
The problem was, that now they made a mistake.
-
Fix or no fix, people should get the old version.
This new patch is severely bugged and using it is not recommended.
-
The fix didn't work for me. I changed the line, saved it, launched the game and got the same "This server is running a newer version of the module..." message.

Agreed. Just reading the errors that are coming up in taleworlds from one tiny little patch makes your head spin. Reverting to older version is recommended I think.

I love you :D

chadz, exactly what bug are are we talking about ?
But of course, before verify, everybody uses it at his own risk.
I see in the new patch mainly new features, and not a single protocol change. (check it please)

Read the taleworlds threads about the patch. Issues are flooding in from everywhere.
Main Thread:
http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/topic,179948.180.html
Seems to be causing lots of crashes/in game glitches especially in the campaign. If you only play crpg, maybe not such an issue. But if you play any other mods that utilise the campaign I'd definitely consider reverting back.

The patch modifies some things in single player, and practically alters this
in multiplayer : Shield no longer gets damaged when the attack is chamber blocked.
Hits are checked on serverside. So yes, I would test this case!

Yeah but according to the forum the patch made lots of little script changes all over the place. Seems to be damaging single player significantly. Like I said, it might not be such an issue if you only play crpg. But if you like to play campaign, or any other mods. It's worth switching back rather than risk losing something in your campaign.
And if any one is getting crashes following the patch. Then definitely revert back. Lots of crash reports atm.
Your solution is a very good one for, I'm sure, 90% of crpg players. But I'm just saying it's not full proof because the patch is still there.
-
-1 Airstrike released.
-
But I'm just saying it's not full proof because the patch is still there.
Yes, you are right! The patch is a fail,
so next update that comes through steam will fix it,
thatswhy I don't disable auto-update.
@Murmillus, it's not working?
-
-1 Airstrike released.
Right back at ya.
-
is it really that simple? My game couldn't work last night because of 3 bytes of information?
I hate code. :evil:
BTW, thanks for the fix suggestion!!! :lol:

It's something that solved the problem, so I shared it.
But use it at your own risk! I don't develop neither warband, nor crpg.
Only developers can state that yes, this is a safe solution.

Are you sure you modified the correct file? It's only for steam version.
-
Yup. In my cRPG folder I opened module.ini and the first three lines now read:
module_name = cRPG
module_version = 1223
compatible_module_version = 1223

You're my new love-interest Garrus!

My module.ini reads:
module_name = cRPG
module_version = 1223
compatible_module_version = 1223
And it still is not letting me join servers, I tried it this morning, and again five minutes ago and it still doesn't work. T_T

Error message is the same ? You restarted the game ?
Also, run Integrity Check on Local Cache (its in steam Library, right-click->properties on warband .
(I did it, at first run it was complaining, I executed again, and it said successfull, I don't know whether it counts or not.)
PM me your whole module.ini content.
@Diomedes, how did it start working in your case ?
-
I checked the integrity of the game cache, it said it was successful and all files were good, but still it's not letting me join cRPG servers.

The two versions are still 1.223 and 1.223 in the error message at join? Enable-auto update.
PM me the full content of your module.ini, or somehow show it.
I Diff it with mine.
-
Auto-update is enabled, and yes, the two versions are 1.223 and 1.223. I'll PM you my module.ini's contents.
-
If we make this change, will we need to revert it once the servers are updated/a better patch is released?

Restart Steam, it's my last idea :(,
I don't know why does it work only in 90% of the cases.
-
I'll try it, but if still it decides to not let me play, oh well, I'll just wait for an official patch/fix :(
Thank you for your time though Garrus, I appreciate it.
-

You rename this word: compatible_with_warband to this: compatible_module_version inside the cRPG folder.
- It doesn't modify Warband
- If you reinstall cRPG files, it reinstalls also this file.
I suggest just simply Ctrl+C,Ctrl+V module.ini before editing, so make a backup copy.
-
Oh wait! I changed compatible_module_warband = 1223
to: compatible_module_version = 1223
and it works like a charm. Thank you very much Garrus, I now love you. Semi-homosexually.
edit: My gf didn't like me loving you semi-homo so its now all platonic love. sorry :(
-
Oh wait! I changed compatible_module_warband = 1223
to: compatible_module_version = 1223
Why Brometheos, what did you do until that ? You lied ? :p
-
No, before I thought it was something else. I don't know what happened. I'm a scrub and a tard, don't rely on me X_X
I swear the first post in this thread said to change it to compatible_module_warband = 1223, not campatible_module_version = 1223. I'll have to check but that's what I thought it said...
edit: yup, I was wrong. It was version the whole time. Excuse me while I design a custom banner that says "SCRUB" on it...

No :shock: Isn't it obvious what does the OP saying? Maybe it's possible to missunderstand it, but I don't know what, help.
edit: kk
-
I've no idea why it fixed itself :?
-
This may help some:
Make sure that the file is set to "read and write" before you edit it, then after you edit it and save, you change it so it is a "read only" file to keep it from "reverting."
-
I've no idea why it fixed itself :?
i think there was second patch of warband just now

can some1 send me the link to download this new version? couldnt find it on website and i didnt buy the game via steam :(

Do you have different versions error, when you want to join any server ? If not, you don't have to do anything.
-
can we get this thread stickyed in announcments? :P
-
why it did not worked for me?

It worked for me, maybe a typo?

Small issue with this fix that I've found so far (one of the glitches shown since the new patch).
If you use alternative crosshairs, they don't work under Garrus's method. You need to reinstall the old patch in order for the alternative crosshairs to work. Otherwise you get nice shiny big square blocks to shoot with 8-)
-
If you use my method for a Non-Steam version,
then it will install a keylogger on your PC and send your personal informations to LulzSec.
I warned you!

Uhm, am i supposed to replace the existing line with compatible_module_version = 1223 or just add it to the .ini?

I've just got this on my module.ini:
module_name = cRPG
module_version = 1223
compatible_module_version = 1223
num_hints = 12
but it still doesn't work. The game crashes as soon as I finish the loading procces.
NVM: I don't know why, it works fine now lol

it unlocked itself.. Still it's evil! IT'S HERECY!
