lvl 30 12/30 4pt 10ath 3wmit does have a negative effect on throwing but damage isn't even necessarily I thing I care about, all I care about is disrupting ranged and making it as difficult as possible to do ANYTHING.
lvl 31 12/30 4pt 10ath 6wm or 3wm 3ps
lvl 33 12/30 4pt 10ath 8wm 4ps
I heard shield reduces throwing dmg so I just run fast try to sneak up on them or bob n weaver.
Best counter to ranged is playing smart. Dagger build is alright though, but you will still get shot as long as you keep displaying yourself to the ranged.i agree, but i'm used to dagger builds, i actually don't even like shields with dagger builds, sneaky sneaky stabby stabby, shield makes you big and noticeable.
Balanced shielder builds sound nice, 21/21 (level 33/34) with maxed shield gives you a lot of coverage, and can allow for a variety of weapon combinations (bringing a spear will help your team a lot against horses and in group fights).if only i had a lvl 33/34 character ;c
bring a camelhonestly not even that bad of an idea considering how OP it is, downside is that i don't have a +3 one and can't get one from the armouries.
Ninja buildkinda susceptible to arrows in that you'll just get insta'd.

Heavy round shield is the only one really worth using (lots of tank, very wide so abuses forcefield, can't get shot in the feet with 4+ shield skill). Takes an absolutely incredible number of arrows to break that shield with 5 shield skill
Medium armour (the middle of the shop in every item), gives you lots of movement, tank and WPF
Carry a spear to fend off cav while you're chasing archers

12/27 shield thrower, you can use throwing axes or daggers, but the objective is to go behind enemy ranged and just constantly harrass them as much as you can.
3/33 shield daggerer, pretty simple, you use a shield and a dagger to sneak up on ranged and spam them to death before they can deal with you, build would work fantastic with the round table imo
I ve played as shielder most of my time in this game and i can say these builds suck. I played as a thrower as well for a reasonable time. You cant be both shielder and thrower at the same time. You wont be effective as you expected with a shield while you are a thrower. So my suggestion for you is
1- grow balls
2- use a 3point difficulty shield even if you play as 2h/polearm
Yeldur, how is the project (kd > 1) for your archer char coming along? My archer is still going quite well actually, I've not really been playing much because archers haven't changed from the already broken state they're in which makes things a bit boring.

Unfortunately the last time I was playing archer my ISP was being shitty and my ping was spiking all over the place, so my K/D has now become unstable leaning more towards deaths as I couldn't hit anything ;c
Still not too bad though, and I'm sure I'll be able to catch back up (42/65) to the deaths considering they're not even that far away from the kills.
Also, guise plz, I said don't give me archer or xbow builds as I don't want to add to c-rpg's death by ranged
But thrower is ranged too.Yeah but thrower isn't a long range class, plus it's not even that powerful overall, that's why I've made an exception for it.
I always felt that my go-to build was fairly well-equipped to hunt down ranged if I felt like it, however it is fairly gear-dependent.
Current build:
Strength: 18
Agility: 24
Polearm: 184
Weapon Master: 8
Athletics: 8
Iron Flesh: 2
Shield: 5
Power Strike: 6
(You can easily just go 15-24 if at a lower level, and strength isn't as important for 'countering' ranged)
If I want to hunt down ranged scum then I make sure to wear light armor, typically my leather (anti)ranger armor, leather gloves, and rus cav boots and bring a light shield like my leather covered round shield. The key element is to bring a long, 4d polearm that you can use in hoplite mode, my go-to is the svaerdstav, as it allows you to run up close and get a faster-and-farther-than-they-expect jump stab aimed right at their face before they think to turn and run or pull out their melee weapon. Once you're safely within in melee range you can drop or sheathe your shield and get all slash-happy with your (hopefully) faster and (probably) longer weapon.
Now you may have noticed that I don't bother wearing head armor to counter ranged, and that is no mere oversight. In fact, this important element may be more vital than the long slashy weapon. See, speed is key here, and no lightweight helmet is gonna make the difference between life and death if you're headshot anyways. That, and the sight of your glorious locks flowing in the wind are enough to taunt any ranged pleb into only going for headshots, which have a much higher chance of missing than mere body shots, which little do they know would do you in nearly as quickly. Your shield is what protects you from the ranged within your sights, your lack of head armor is what protects you from any meddling ranged on your flank.(click to show/hide)

Nice, I like it. I'll give that a shot :o - Though it seems this build is more made for like 33+ even at 15/24 as I can't get any of those stats on a lvl 30 build currently without seriously sacrificing some stats. :c

wow, 2 whole points! what a massive loss in WPF(click to show/hide)
Probably. I was just referencing the fact I haven't retired in many long years while you used to do so with much more frequency. Then again they've only made it easier to get xp since my retirement (from the game) so anything is possible. How much xp you got on your main?
Currently 509,740,632, (with just over 1.1 billion to goLOLand I haven't retired since I hit gen 16 some time ago.

Yep, my current build has been pretty effective against the archersSo hold on a minute- you have a lvl 37 char currently? Or are those pod levels?(click to show/hide)
However my best anit-ranged build has to be my lvl 37 build, I could block forever and run faster than the ranged, so groups of them couldn't surround me easily + very high wpf meant easier kills.(click to show/hide)
Something like this might work well, 12str is possible now with 1hs like iberian mace moved to 12 diff :D(click to show/hide)
You can still get shot to shit if unaccustomed to this type of build, requires patience and well timed strikes when killing multiple ranged,
I prefer knightly kite with this build, light weight but still very good stats, you want to be able to move quickly, so light armor like mail shirt with fur is best.
Just imagine 5 guys with this build doing co-ordinated strikes on those pesky ranged!
Edit, you can also use that same build for a dagger hero
Best anti-archer tactic is to press P then F1 right in front of them, it takes some getting used to, but eventually you can completley block there view, especially if they are 1st person pew pews, which i think they all are, of course this does not work vs 2 archers at once, so good luck, godspeed.Batt flags are team side only

Used to be easy dealing with archers, even nests full of ranged scum. Until they learned awareness skill. It's the way of evolution and now they've evolved. I was happy to take part in their exterminaton before archers aquired sentience. If there was a way I'd force first person view on them and low fov. Nothing to do with precision, is all about that tunnel view to reduce awareness and make them puke.
As I've always said, you're a my old friend if you're supporting ranged on the battlefield, friendly or not. You lads brought this scourge upon yourself.
I know! Let's create a fake guide to trick archers, we can start with "The optimal settings for an archer is to set your FOV to the lowest possible so that you get a direct line of sight on anyone you aim at. This is the key to being a good archer."but, but playing ultra low FOV and low dpi in fps mode is a 'must have' to be dedicated archer :P
but, but playing ultra low FOV and low dpi in fps mode is a 'must have' to be dedicated archer :PYES GOOD IDEA, PLAY ALONG WITH MY TRICK, THAT'LL SURELY TRICK THOSE ARCHERS :d:d:d:d:d
