Technically everyone can answer 0 or more. Might want to make it 0-10, 10-20, etc if you're actually going to try and use the data.

This is one reason I suck at programming.

52 or 16. 16 is white tunic + +3 Mail Gauntlets, 52 with +3 White tunic over mail, I use both often so don't know which to pick. Also rarely 67 with +3 white transitional, but that is often dusty on an armory.

More than half of the voters got more than 6 IF. That's huge if you combine the fact they all use 60 body armor.

Average of my armor usage: (43+68)/2= 55.5

56 is my average body armor if you like integers

More surprising to me than the fact that people actually care about ironflesh, is the fact that the majority must have over 18 str(7-8 IF is 30%). Very good.

They don't care about IF, they simply got scared by seeing how much wpf they were losing without it, since the new patch.

Result? It's the age of melee tanks. gg

Voncrow you need to make it specific for melee , cav, or ranged character. I have 0 IF on cav, but have 5 on my melee character
Title: Re: CRPG statistics poll | Now featuring IF poll!
Post by: Voncrow on October 24, 2014, 08:54:17 pm
All the polls I've done up to this point have been intended for all classes, my cav has 5 IF with 18 str, and my Melee has 6 IF with 30 str(For both polls I chose the stats of my main hero Voncrow_KUTT, because I feel my main best represents my position in the poll.). I've seen other cav players that had IF, and I've seen Range players that prioritized IF over ps(and vice verca)  and shielders who got IF before the patch. While class certainly affects it, so does level and play style. I think all classes should be involved to get the best show of data, this is a class based combat system after all. Although with that point, it makes we wonder how the percentages of these past two polls will relate to the poll of classes.

Next Poll will be a class based poll. I'll create the new poll either before or after I go to sleep once we get over 100 hundred votes in the poll.

No more than 5 IF for functional builds.  The only time I use more is in joke builds (max str with no wpf)
Title: Re: CRPG statistics poll | Now featuring IF poll!
Post by: Voncrow on October 24, 2014, 09:06:46 pm
I would disagree, almost all my fully leveled builds pre-patch involved having max or 3 less than max, this usually worked to my advantage being a bad player and all. 10 or more IF is not something to be taken lightly.
Title: Re: CRPG statistics poll | Now featuring IF poll!
Post by: lombardsoup on October 24, 2014, 09:09:13 pm
To each his own.  Tried rolling high STR IF builds before and those are the ones I tend to die most on.  I'm terrible at blocking so I need that extra agi to help compensate for my slow reaction time.

I could just git gud but that is beyond me.

Poll suggestions:
Title: Re: CRPG statistics poll | Now featuring IF poll!
Post by: Voncrow on October 24, 2014, 09:15:45 pm
Poll suggestions:
  • Damage type of your #1 favorite weapon: Cut focus/stab focus/blunt focus/all-rounder
  • What's your AGI? 3-45
  • What's the maximum upkeep on your default gear?
  • Which meta class do you play: Infantry, Ranged, Cavalry, Mounted Ranged (please run this one for longer than the others)
  • What's your roleplay theme: Central European, Slav, Southern European, Nordic, Steppe, Desert, Ninja/Samurai, Nothing in particular

I thought of some of those themselves but had put them on hold, Max upkeep and theme are some interestings ideas that I'll have to put on the list, in fact, time to start a list. Just in case I forget.

Poll recommendation: Ask cav what weapon they primarily use on horseback. Lance, 1h, 2h, xbow, bow, throwing.

Probably won't be very relevant, given the small sample. So far only a handful of people even say they play as cav in the class poll, so...

Maybe another poll for what class you've spent the most time playing post-patch. It'd only be relevant if it was done pretty soon. And the poll would probably have a larger variety of builds, maybe str/balanced/agi for each of the types.

I just have one character for pretty much every class and build I like.

Then pick the option that you think represents you best. If you can't decide, pick the class you've played the most. Don't know that? Fuck it, close your eyes and click. For all these polls, just choose what you think represents you best, whether that's what you currently have, something you've done in the past.

EDIT: Those of you that know me, may know that I have a moderate disdain for agility. Putting that aside, let see how disgusting your builds are! My build of 30/15 gives me 15 agi and lets me still be slower than about everyone else, good times.

Make the agility boundaries better, being in 3-8 puts me in the same category as any scumbag who has 8 agility.

Unfortunately, you'll have to settle with being among the greatest of the strength master race. Also, I set the boundaries as are so that even level 39 3/49 with 17 ath. could count in. (I'm such a nerd that I used the calculator to find a max reasonable agi before creating the poll)

With the  poll as is, I'd say there are more of a shift to balance builds but definitely more agi than str, by quite a bit.

I feel like this is a pretty poor poll option. We all swap weapons so regularly that there is no way to decide which one weapon length to go with. Not everyone has a "signature" weapon that they always fall back on. Heck, many people would say that the long axe is mine, but truth be told I barely use it anymore (since it is more of a siege weapon). And I sure as heck ain't calculating the average weapon length just for the poll...

We just had an agility poll, why not follow up with a strength poll?

Probably a good idea, but then again, like I said:

Then pick the option that you think represents you best.

We all know what weapon you represent Jona, but if you want a str(spoiler: it'll be a lot like this one) poll so bad I'll do it.

Listen people, this is a game that one of its greatest querks is customization. But that's because it separates you from the rest, not everyone has to be a Kuyak hero.(though many choose to do so anyway ) I think some of our more veteran players have played long enough to find a weapon that they think represents them, and if not, just pick your current or average(of all loomed or favs) and just pick. It doesn't have to be rocket science and it something relevant to poll about. I plan on doing a lot of weapon polls people so be please don't keep bringing this up since I don't want to answer the same question a 100 times, rant over.

Yes, but it was my first heirloom, and the only item I loomed myself in all my time playing, save for the most recent patch in which I loomed the ranger leather armor. Although technically, if we are going waaaaaay back to my roots... then yes, I used a longsword more often than a danish, seeing how I rolled with 12 str. I would personally base my roots off of my looms, but I see how it can go either way, I suppose.

Jona likes it long, nothing wrong with that.

1-9-17-17-17-14-6-2-1-3

17 at 21 and 24 (middle)

27 agi builds, 17 balanced agi and 10 full agi
26 str builds, 14 balanced str and 12 full str

If you pick a guy randomly, chances are his build can be pretty much anything.

On-Topic: I wanna see a poll of average total weight carried.

Thy will be done.

EDIT: 30.2 with my usual armour setup (surcoat over mail and plate, polished gauntlets, Gjermundbu Helm, Mail Boots) and Long Maul.

Yes, weapon weight is included.

Now on top of that, let me lay some knowledge down on you. Maximum weight has been calculated. If you are a archer with enough strength to wear plate, you can have all of this.
Milanese Plate:       29.7
Heavy Gauntlets:   2
Black Greaves:       3.8
Weimar Helmet:      4
Long Bow:              4
+3 arrows(2):         20
+3 Knobbed Mace: 2.5
For a whopping 64.4 weight. Assuming these are kilograms, that would make it 141lb for us uneducated Americans. This is using maximum slots and heaviest possible Equipment. Why anyone would want to use this build in the first place, is beyond me. Good Day Spook fans.

It changes. ATM 2.3 (0.7 gauntlets, 0.4 shirt, 0 straw hat, 0 wrapping boots, 1.2 quarterstaff)
My most common one in the past: 17-20 (2.6+11.1+0.7+2.1+wep (anything between 1 and 3))
And on high ping gear (heavy armour and bec spam) it raises to 30ish

For awhile I was in my big, bad brigandine gear, which weighed 26.6 with an effective weight of 34.4.

Although thanks to the new patch and a healthy dose of Ironflesh, I've been loom trading and I'm proud to say I've lost 13.2 kg! I now weigh 13.4 with an effective 13.7!
I couldn't have done it without the support of my item balance crew, and the random marketplace fiends who ate up my ridiculous offers.

Armor(Full Mail): 15.4
(3)Weapons+Shield: 10.7
Total: 26.1

You should, admittedly go for ARMOR weight over full weight. Armor weight is a larger malus on your character and weapon weight does much less to slow you down.

Yeah... the maximum armor weight is roughly 35-36, while the maximum weight possible is 75-76 (from carrying 4 bags of +3 arrows). Quite the difference. Not to mention anyone who uses a shield (especially a hoplite who carries a sidearm) or maul looks like a plate crutch.

36+(I have no idea what max weight is...)

4x Steel Shield + Milanese Plate + Weimar Helmet + Black Greaves + Heavy Gauntlets = 83.7w

Edit: Construction Site is heavier than Steel Shield, but you can only equip one at a time. How many slots are Steel Shields? If they are more than 1, replace Steel Shield with Calradian Arrows 11.5w -> 10.0w

I actually used to wear 17.7 in armour instead of 23 something, then archery became an obsessive problem and I change to 62 body armour instead of 45. On another note, rip surcoat over mail of all kinds, they were ruined with the patch of destiny.

I just retired, so now I have a free loom, and I'm going to pass the savings on to you! And to shamelessly advertise my thread while I do it, I'll just put the contest in this thread. Have fun, now here is how the game goes. You name a Great House from Morrowind, all people who choose a certain great house are viable to continue on in the contest to win the loom. That is, if I'm not too lazy to continue from there. If I am too lazy, I'll just randomly generate a winner from that house. Now let the games begin! Also those who don't vote on my poll are just terrible people.

Due to connection problems, I am a bit late. But worry not, fate has spoken. Congratulations lucky winners of House Telvanni, you've made it! I say this ironically because only one none scrub among you exists, also disappointed no one chose house Dres, but what you gonna do. In all TES games my favorite character was always a mage, morrowind takes you through the magic of ... magic better than any of it's sequels. And I have to say my time spent with House Telvanni is filled with good times. I was planning to have some sort of trivia contest for us Telvanni nerds to decide the winner, but since there is only one, Grumbs can just go ahead and put an offer up on the marketplace, congratulation winners!

EDIT: Now for fun lets continue the trivia game! You are given a skirt, do you:

B: Not wear the Skirt
C: Make the house cat wear the Skirt.

Post by: KaMiKaZe_JoE on December 29, 2014, 08:04:26 am
I like this poll, and I think it's one of the more loaded/most important polls in that it's a simple question of "When did you like this game the most?"

This, being asked when the mod seems to be on a steady decline. Admittedly, I haven't been in a server in like a month. Been busy IRL, and sadly will remain busy for the next 7 weeks.

But I think the questions could be a bit more specific. I look at the Battle server and the Strat servers as (almost) two different games: I enjoy the Battle Server mechanics of strat 4+, though I must note that I am not a fan of the most recent uber-patch. But, I had more fun playing Strat's 2 and 3 that the most recent iteration.

My preference for the past Strat's probably comes from a mix of nostalgia, the sense of "Oh this is new(ish) and fun!" that I (and perhaps others) felt at the time, and the general cRPG population's investment into strat at the time. I feel that past iterations of strat had more players giving a fuck than the most recent iterations. This is perhaps tied into my own, very personal, take on the earlier strats: they were more immersive. I was invested in them, and could better imagine the conflicts between clans being carried out, like some retarded, nerdy Game of Thrones; hence the inception of my "roleplaying". I think this ease of imagining--this immersion--was so easily accomplished back then because of a mix of the aforementioned factors, plus strat's relative youth and healthy population. A number of factors blended together, back in the day, to make those earlier strats more immersive for me. I care more about them, to the point that clan identies and heraldries and the players that led them all mattered. I kept track of that shit like I was tracking the arcs of characters (and their factions) in a weird, nerdy fucking soap opera.

Shit, my "roleplay" posts often required an hour of digging through forums (and my own memory) to figure out who was doing what, and what faction was aligned with which. Verisimilitude and all that. I still fucked that part up frequently, but the impulse to at least try was there, which is telling. It suggests that the battle-by-battle, post-by-post reality of previous strat iterations was indeed very important to me, and important to the stories I tried to tell (and to the implied, larger narrative).

Times have a-changed, and I honestly think that the major factor in this discussion is simply the mod's age. It's gotten old and people have moved on, devs included. At this point, I'm hoping that Battlegrounds is as fun as cRPG was. I'm hoping that, after my IRL fun-times are over with, I can buy Battlegrounds and immerse myself once again into a the derpy, imaginative, medieval playground that I'd romped in not so long ago. Hopefully the devs are able to keep the freedom and sandbox-y playfulness of the mod intact for the next version of things, while upgrading graphics and the strat mechanics to make a more intuitive, fun experience.

Sorry for the rambling. I've been busy and have only recently had access to beer. Beers.

I would like to vote for a period that is not available, namely the time between the upkeep patch and Strat 2. This period was from January 2011 till September 2011.

Pre-upkeep patch was fun, but not fair. I started in December 2010 (lel) and played religiously and all I reached in that month, in which I probably cleared 150 hours, was level 20, 150 wpf and about 35k worth of gear. The old players were level 45+, with over 220 wpf and had 200k worth of gear and there was no way I could have ever reached a reasonably level playing field.

The start of 2011 had the much fairer new system which was perhaps less retarded fun, but a better and more solid experience overall. The few reasons why I prefer this era over more recent eras have nothing to do with mechanics or game design, which were shittier by far. There is zero point in reverting to an earlier version, because it won't ever be the same. The game lacked a whole lot of stuff that I would sorely miss now.

The game back then was more fun for two reasons. One being that it was alive and vibrant as fuck, the other being that people sucked. There were probably well over 500 players online at primetime and there were many big clans making their mark on the battle server. This was a time of clans having trainings and the competitive clan scene was growing. There were tons of very large and very good clans. Admittedly I wasted my time being a ninja and I got into a competitive clan pretty late, but the taste I got of it and the general atmosphere was pretty damn good. It was also a time of much lower average playing skill, which made the game more fun. It was easier to be consistently good and the game was far from a numbers game. One versus many was a challenge, not a death sentence. Being good meant being able to block well. No endless block fests, fighting was frantic and quick. It was a time where the entire server would watch one of the classic pros clutch against 15 players with the chat going apeshit.

Then Strat came back after a long absence and though me and everyone were excited as hell, I would have preferred it now if it have stayed away. It instantly demolished the active competitive scene as tryhards started attacking clans on Strat when they had clanbattles and organizing anything became impossible.

That's interesting and helpful, I hope you can help fill in the rest of the gaps. My peasant looking self started playing in late 2013, so I am pretty much ignorant of everything prior to strat 4. Although most I know who have stopped playing have done so because of server issues, ping problems that are exclusive to crpg servers and don't really go away easily.
