made me realize I wanna share a few gems with ya.
note,  that the german dubbing of the 70-early 90 was at its peak and made many movies better then there original was.
next to just about any modern day jackie chan movie from that era,  I´d like to share with ya:

Millionairs express

that scene alone is so funny in german,  seems like english dub doesnt cut it. actually quite boring.  I am dissapoint.   anyway,  in german,  one of the funniest,  coolest movies of my childhood,  and one of my all time favorites

Mad Mission

Quite so. The thing about The Grey is: Authenticity! It's not filmed in some warm studio in LA. The actors are really out there and don't need to act they are cold because the weather is real and they are freezing .

My friend was starring in this movie, he's a lot older now but in the trailer, it's the kid that flicks his finger on the blonde kid's nose.

Haven't seen it yet, though. Supposedly, it was an international success - but not a national. In other words, that's a Swedish movie.

In what may be an unprecedented move, the producer of this film, Eric D. Wilkinson, has publicly thanked users of BitTorrent who have distributed the movie without express permission, saying that it has lifted the profile of this product far beyond the financier's expectations, while encouraging fans to purchase the DVD or donate.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Not widely reviewed, Rampage received mixed response, and was noted by Bloody Disgusting for director Uwe Boll's "evolution" in style, "almost as if the German Ed Wood has taken a deep look into the mirror, reflected on his films, and made a turn for the better". In contrast Variety called it "uncompromising and nearly unwatchable (as much for its subject as for its nauseating visual style)".

The film opened at #6 on its opening weekend, behind Star Trek, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, Ghosts of Girlfriends Past, Obsessed, and 17 Again with approximately $4 million in revenue. Next Day Air steadily declined in the box office during its eight week run. The film grossed $10,027,047 ranking it 111 in films released in 2009.

Man Bites Dog - It's a comedy about a documentary crew that follows around a serial killer.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcPhaieTg4o (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bcPhaieTg4o)

Cleopatra Jones - One of my favorite 70's movies, really funny.  If you liked Black Dynamite you'll like this.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYVX8JBjbMw (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYVX8JBjbMw)

Wizards - A Ralph Bakshi animated movie.  It's a mix of a lot of different styles of animation, sort of like a motion comic in some parts and with lots of rotoscoped film in others, definitely worth watching if you're into animation.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjSFujG6Uhg (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjSFujG6Uhg)

Best of Youth - It's an Italian drama that follows two brothers from the 1960's up to modern times.  It's about 6 hours long but pretty good.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIozQwKTxp0 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eIozQwKTxp0)

American Ninja 2 - Just a solid B-movie about a US marine/ninja who takes on an army of ninjas.  Oh, and it's set in the Caribbean.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJB9vPQ8ydA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zJB9vPQ8ydA)

Gotcha! - It's about college guy who goes to Europe trying to get laid but ends up getting caught up in spy stuff.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm9oMGJDY-8 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rm9oMGJDY-8)

The Kids Stays in the Picture - It's a documentary about a movie producer that's really well put together.  Probably the first time I remember seeing the dimensional still technique used.

I mentioned these before,  but wanna get deeper into it:  following two movies where created within the "duel project" between Ryūhei Kitamura and Yukihiko Tsutsumi.  They got drunk together at some film festival in cologne,  germany,  and created a competition that would have two movies,  filmed between 2002-03 under a predefined set of parameters,  go against each other.  Those parameters were:

2 people in a room,  that would in the course of one week kill eachother.  both movies turned out great.

fun fact:  I saw the movies in a special back in 2005,  where we paid 2,50 euros for both movies (played on a huge screen in a 200 year old lamp factory),  a cup of noodles soup and as much vodka as one can bare.  seriously.  germany rocks.

Lizard man, if you like some unknown asian action, the films by Hiroyuki Tanaka (Aka Sabu) from the 90`s are awesome.. (if you can find them. Rare shit this is)

I saw them all around 10 years ago, but they are probably still awesome..

i must agree but it's a gem in the mockumentary horror genre still (at least for me) , there's plenty of these type of movies , 90% are pure shit , the others (cloverfield , v\h\s , man bites dog , atrocious , lake mungo etc..) are done quite well :)

Irreversible is good and has Monica Bellucci: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0290673/

Korean movies

OLDBOY!!!  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0364569/

Castaway on the Moon:  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1499666/

 I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0497137/

Just watched Irreversibel, hard stuff presented in a very unique way. I liked it even though it was kinda disturbing.
I watched Enter the void another movie by the director Gaspar Noé some days ago, which I, as a psychonaut, really liked as well. He is probably now together with Darren Aronofsky my favorite director . "I stand alone" is next on the list, the fat prick in the beginning of irreversibel seems to be the protagonist of that one.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this before.

Zero Day

An independent film based off the Columbine Massacre.  Directed in a "Found films" type of style.  Very good movie if you ask me.  Intense and drawn out scenes.  Great actors all around.  Good movie if you like "Thrill Chills"

It may come off as boring at first, but the last part of the movie really hits you hard if you watch all of it.

EDIT: If you do end up watching this, message me what you thought  (This pertains to anyone)

These come to mind immediately; some are critically acclaimed, but most were not successful movies. Primer is an especially interesting independent science fiction film oozing with vision.

Brazil
Primer
Memento
Burn After Reading
π [Pi]
A Serious Man

I just realized I'd seen Primer shortly after it came out and I was just flooded with nostalgic and uncomfortable memories, I think I need to watch this again soon.

True Romance is a great movie (written but not directed by Quentin Tarantino), bonus Brad Pitt as a stoner

Another movie I really like that a lot probably haven't seen, is The Rules of Attraction, written by Bret Easton Ellis
(kind of a shitty trailer...but it's a really good movie):

My guilty pleasure is getting high and watching Belly (has a lot of good music, really good looking visuals/lighting, and it's a good "gangster" story).  I've heard people tear this movie apart, but I still think it's really good.

http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3485008153/ - trailer here

Also has one of my favorite opening scenes/music of any movie:

nausicaa is cool, but the ending is for little kids, no way she should have survived.

If you like weird movies, watch Naked Lunch. Or Lost Highway, although I think this one might be a bit more commonly known.

We're all nerds here so I don't feel ashamed recommending movies by Studio Ghibli! If any of you have even a remote interest in anime then these are some pretty good movies to watch. Personally I have very little interest in anime and these are probably the only anime movies I have ever watched but I still love them. There's a whole catalog of movies by this studio, and you can find them all on Wikipedia. Out of all of them I would have to first recommend Howl's Moving Castle or Spirited Away.

These movies may not have the absolute best clarity and logical plot but they have some of the best atmosphere I've ever seen in an animated production, truly able to make you feel included. Every shot is like a Kubrick film with a ridiculous amount of stuff going on, I can only imagine how many Asian sweatshop slaves they use. Anyway heres a trailer for Howl's Moving Castle.

I just saw a great french film: Le mouton enragé http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0071864/

fucking great!  an average joe that turns his life around under the advice of a friend and with the goal to "become filthy rich and sleep with a lot of women"

ofc not a party movie but a nostalgic story well told,  very french,  very entertaining if you like these kind of movies.

If you're interested in the french revolution and the time after it, I recommend especially these 2 movies

La révolution française - Two parts of it: 1. Les Annés lumières / 2. Les Annés terribles, A movie about the the years between 1789-1794, all events between 1789-1792 and the terror regime of 1792-1794 are described detailed and very authentic

Just a clip with different scenes because trailers sucked back then

If you want to see a very realistic and profound film about the battle of waterloo I recommend this one

Especially watch this clip to get an impression of the enorm expense in realistic troops sizes, definitely worth of watching.

Of course. If you speak American, you see the truth, and immediately you accept the superiority of America over everything else, which makes you an American by definition. Your soul does no longer accept being anything else than American, so your previous nationality becomes foreign. Actually, everything else becomes foreign. It's a bit like becoming BORG.

Great Korean movie that not everyone knows of. Give it a try. I promise you won't regret it.

I'm adding a trailer here anyway but note that it doesn't really summarize the movie much.

Here's some cool stuff I think everyone should watch. I like movies that take you to a faraway land. The ones where at the end you snap out of it and realize you're not actually there.

Noi the Albino. Iceland.

City of God. Brazil. This won a lot of awards but hardly anyone I ask has watched it.

Endless Summer. Some guys in the 60s go to beaches all over the world that have never been surfed before. Just traveling and surfing.

Ghost World.

That's one of my favorite cheesy action/gore/horror movies. If you like Battle Royale you also might enjoy Machine Girl:

The best closing scene award goes to Jackie Chan's Fearless Hyena. Pushing your injured master in a wheelbarrow across a field and then right into a rock - brilliant.

Everyone probably knows They Live, but I fucking love it ok? http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0096256/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Kinda liked this Swiss space-horror Pandemonium-esque one http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0381940/?ref_=nv_sr_4

2009 Chinese black-and-white movie about the Rape of Nanking. Caused a shitstorm in China, resulting in death threats and the movie nearly being pulled from theatres, mainly because of the movie's sympathetic portrayal of the conflicted Japanese soldier Kadokawa. Pretty surprising the CCP censors approved its release in the first place.

Highly recommended.

Awful trailer for an awesome movie. Production values are pretty good in the movie itself, i guess the trailer was just an afterthought put together in 5 mins.
