2009 Chinese black-and-white movie about the Rape of Nanking. Caused a shitstorm in China, resulting in death threats and the movie nearly being pulled from theatres, mainly because of the movie's sympathetic portrayal of the conflicted Japanese soldier Kadokawa. Pretty surprising the CCP censors approved its release in the first place.

Highly recommended.

Awful trailer for an awesome movie. Production values are pretty good in the movie itself, i guess the trailer was just an afterthought put together in 5 mins.
