New black armor is way better.
When I think of the old black armor, I always thought: "Who the hell goes into battle wearing metal armor that's painted black? You'd pass out from heat exhaustion in 2 minutes."
so no more TRUE goretooth... but I liked it for that!
sniff...
new one seem to be poped up from a fantasy chess set!
bah anyway I never used those armor so...
Its the ugliest gayest and most retarded armor set in the whole crpg.

There I can only find the new black armour with stripes, but as I understood the topic the old black armour received a new model/skin. If I understood right, could somebody please post a screenshot or so? I'd like to see the difference, to be able to judge if the new one is better. But honestly, when I think about the old model, pretty much anything new can only look better :?
People wore black armours. It was some kind of blue-black, and was mostly used in the (really) late medieval ages and the beginning of the Rennaissance, but still. The effect wasn't that severe, I suppose. And the Knights Hospitaller wore a black surcoat in the fuckin' desert! That's not much better.
It's just not the same. :|
It is completely replaced. Hit ctrl + F5 to reload all the cached images.I know, that's why I said "to essentially replace the old black armor completely" I know it's got a new texture, and the new stats just don't make sense to me.
I like the idea of adding the old black armor back in. If people want to wear it that's okay by me. It was too expensive/bulky/ugly for my taste but whatever.
I think it's a little sad that the item was just changed over to new stats and everything, I have to kind of wonder if it was an accident to essentially replace the old black armor completely.

I think it's cool they changed the graphics (although I'd rather they work on making strategus better than making things look pretty). I don't own black armor but my big problem with what the dev's do is that they change item stats (even worse when they change item requirements), and they don't allow people the option to "respec" their loompoints on the item. You should let people get their loompoints back if you're going to nerf the stats on the equipment. If you're going to make the item difficulty higher you should also allow people a free respec of their character.
For instance you had level 32 and 33 builds who rode the courser. Even had 3 looms into them. You change the riding from 4 to 6 and fuck over a lot of people. But you don't let them get a free respec without losing half xp. I'd suggest not making huge changes, but if you're going to, don't alienate the people who have been playing the longest and no longer wish to retire by forcing them to make tough choices.

Any time they change an item, and people demand a loom respec, they just tell you to go trade it on the market :P so dont get your hopes up
The old one was one of those cRPG classics. The best armour in the game was also the ugliest. It was so ugly it was kinda awesome. It was part of cRPG culture, just like the boulder on a stick and the looney toons axe. They get killed one by one.
Now it's a (heavy) medium armor with not that admirable statistics.Yeah, stats aren't too good but perhaps it is to keep the amount of renaissance armor limited on the otherwise Medieval cRPG battlefield. I've personally ended up with a lot more weight for a very small armor increase (compared to my old armor) :?
