Would everyone kindly stop buying this shit so that developers can move on and stop releasing the same shit three times in a row?

Could be interesting. They really can't get around giving the guards guns too now, I wonder how that will play out.

I'm sure they already have gunners in the newest game.

Still, the everyday guard would have one in this time period, it would be interesting.

They already did in Brotherhood and Revalations.

I'm just glad the feudal japan rumor was wrong. Because god knows there is not enough weeabo shit already. I'll take 17th cen America over that insufferable piece of water park (pun intended) any day.

I thought the same thing :(

Turdbine will never make another AC game though :(

Revelations all the roof guards have guns, as well as the jannisaries and their goddamn pistols. Also when you are trying to take over an area for a den there are posts where musketmen shoot from. It can be bloody annoying as they do A LOT of damage, especially early on when you don't have much health. But as long as you close them down they die very quickly. It's also annoying when you're in melee and get shot as it often knocks you to the ground  :|

Would everyone kindly stop buying this shit so that developers can move on and stop releasing the same shit three times in a row?

It's one of the few games that actually gets much better the more games they release. I'm on Revelations now and I must say I'm finding it the most enjoyable out of all of them.

If all that stuff is true it actually sounds pretty awesome, I'm a bit excited now.

Check out the screens I just posted  :)

It sounds like it's going to be a lot more terrain based as opposed to city based. It shall be interesting to see how it plays out. Certainly a change of pace.

Regardless the official announcement is on monday  :)

Well, it makes sense.

That cave where the last game led the story, is in America.

So they have to use that place on the "ancestor" side as well, it's totally reasonable.

Cant we ever get around the USA crap already? Not that I have anything against USA or smthing...but seriuslly. There are other places too....... What  would a member of the ancient assassins order that has  mainly been operational around Europe for over hundreds of years suddenly be doing in an American Idependence war? It always seems like when shit hits the fan its always the USA. Aliens, odd new diseases, assassins, wierd conspiracies.  :mrgreen:To be honest I tought that pic was just a joke at first....but wow.

PS: Im also getting real tired of always saving New York: Chrysis, Prototype etc

I think Istanbul was my favourite location so far. The vibrancy was fantastic.

Indeed, Istanbul was the most colorful and beautyful from the bunch. And the Janissaries, althou tough bastards, where awesome too.

Post by: Thovex on March 09, 2012, 02:16:49 pm
Wasn't Istanbul the newest? In my opinion the game gets just better every new one.

Post by: Christo on March 09, 2012, 04:13:38 pm
Yeah, Istanbul was the newest one.

I really liked Cappadocia, with that cave-like town. That was just amazing.

Maybe if they had changed up the assassin uniform a tad...guy couldn't look more out of place if he was dressed in jeans and a leather jacket. But anachronisms are part of the fun of the game I guess, but where it had this steampunk charm to it in certain locales, I think the idea of a AC protagonist (practically unchanged from an art direction pov) in the Revolutionary War sounds and looks completely ridiculous.
I look forward to seeing if the role of the french in the Rev War is approached at all. It's Ubisoft, so good chances, but the game is also obviously being marketed primarily to US consumers.
And there's an enduring pop culture myth that the wily americans won against the british by using indian style guerilla tactics, as opposed to all those dumb euro's marching in straight lines to shoot at each other in suicidal volleys.

But.. but Hollywood told me that, it must be real what I see in a Mel Gibson movie!

And mel gibson is very good with his historical accuracies :P

looks like t'll be another decent instalment in the series, i hope so anyway.

Post by: Overdriven on March 09, 2012, 07:32:27 pm
Well they have a working formula and they don't change it to much. The location change to the USA, as opposed to ancient cities, will probably be the biggest change to the game they've really made. Usually it's just extra equipment, more kill moves, weapons ect. Though the addition of the recruiting/store buying was a nice addition as well.

But generally, as long as they stick to that formula, these games should continue to be pretty successful.

Assassin's Creed? Plus-comme ass is the creed!!

Post by: Meow on March 09, 2012, 08:56:04 pm
Well I kinda like the change.
Didn't play through a single of the games since I always got bored half way in.

This looks promising though and I am kinda hoping for a bit more stealth and challenge this time.

Also in before Assassins Creed 4 in WWII setting.
After they released 2-10 in between ones based on 3

They'll probably hit Napoleonic war, then WW1, then 2. They need to stretch this out as long as possible  :P

unlike everyone else; I think the setting fucking sucks. partly because I would rather the series went back in time not forwards, "modern life is rubbish". also probably because i'm british and more sensitive to the american/french bias/slant.
heres a little interesting website
http://www.redcoat.me.uk/battles.htm

I notice more germans were killed than british and that patriots mostly killed civilians, making them more like terrorists than I'm sure most americans would like to swallow. I admit I know little about the war really its not part of our education, but I have read stuff about the bias. the ac3 trailer reminds me of mel gibson's the patriot which was a load of bullshit and bias, depicting british as some sort of force of pure evil commiting chocolate chip cookie like atrocities. even though both sides were doing bad things, this was 200 years ago, there were no "good guys" in that time period or the war. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Patriot_(2000_film)#Historical_authenticity

but meh the story was never a strength in any ac game, infact its completely retarded psuedo-science anyway so why not add some psuedo-history.

i hate teh setting becuase of anti british bias even though i am an uneducated idiot limey  who admits to knowing absolutely nothing about the setting or era, i'm just a bigot against americans

all of the native cultures that the british empire exploited and raped deserved it because they simply didn't have british manners

cool opinion bro

"What does “rebel” mean, anyway? I’ve noticed that in English press it’s a bad word. Here it’s different, because we were the rebels in 1775 and proud of it. But see, people who know the American revolution think that the Brit policy against the Yankees, where (give or take a Banastre Tarlteton or two), the redcoats tried to avoid killing civvies, was normal Imperial policy.

Bullshit. The reason the Brits let us go, didn’t try scorched-earth on us, was that we WERE Brits, as far as they could tell: white protestant English-speaking humans. If you weren’t all of the above, you weren’t human. The only other war where English troops had the same restraint was–take a guess. Right: the English Civil War. In England, they fought clean. But when Cromwell marched up to subdue the Scots, who were Protestant (good) but non-English (bad), a lot of POWs never made it back to the holding pens, and a lot of crofts were torched, and a lot of girls were raped. When he moved from Scotland to Ireland, where the filthy locals were filthy Papist as well as non-English, well, you don’t want to know what happened there."
