For me, it is the satisfaction of having my "dream build" and never being a peasant ever again.
Instead of leveling my Main to 34, I plan on leveling my shielder alt to 33 as well simply to have another dream build.
I find it rather enjoyable, as I view it as a "reward" and not "oh damn, ran out of things to do." It helps that there are new maps, and new players or old changing players to keep things interesting and fresh. As a bonus for having an archer main, every patch also changes the mechanics enough where my playstyle radically changes too, forcing new tricks.
Then again, I'm the guy with two and a half dozen active alts, so....
*shrugs*
holy shit, really? How much...I don't even wanna know.
1095.1 hrs hours total of warband, which is pretty much 96% of my lifetime total game time looking at Steam.
Why spend ~46 days making a super character when all you have to do is Skip The Fun and make a cavalry archer or a lancer cavalry and one hit you with a couchable lance.

So what is the incentive to grind after you hit lvl 33, and already quit retiring after generation 15 or so?
Is it really worth it to grind 44 million xp for a few more skill points?
what is there in the end-game to keep people playing?
If people want to work towards something, I recommend heirlooms. Retirement will be back soon, and the only condition will be level 31.
I don't know if heirlooms are currently strong or hardly worth it, if it's the latter, they might get a buff. I'll check with the items team.
Also, there will be a, how should I put it without revealing too much, very special set of "skills" that you can acquire soon, in another way than simply leveling. This should make things very interesting for people that want to have more persistance to their char, without breaking the balance that the game has currently recieved (aka not making them godlike).
Now let me get back to finishing that patch, just dropped in here to announce this :).
Personally the only thing that is wrong with this game is that it allows alts and frequent name changes so you never ever know who you are actually going against. I wish it was not like that.relevance to topic?
I would pay for it to not be like that. And that is one way to get rid of it.

I can always change my name over and over but I do not buy into it like tears does.
Personally the only thing that is wrong with this game is that it allows altsOf which I have to say, I don't use alts to "hide who I am" but instead use them so I don't get bored out of my skull when playing. Playing as just one class at a time is a horrible idea for a game, nothing to do with masking reputation.
