More Info TBA

but man, put a thread in the old official forum, there is no way to get here for easy mortals like me who used to use the link at the character page to get into this forum.
Now chadz ... you know ... I really HATE YOU
Edited: +1 troll point for you
-
You know, we wouldn't have minded, if you waited with the release and instead prepared a nice, detailed info post, to prevent all the panicking, whining, the confusion, fear, anger and whatnot this "kind" of release caused now

Yeah, but it would not be as much fun.
-
well, after much of work you have to allow man to lough at us.
can't take of my mind that grin of his hose so i picture chadz loling as a horse
-
I can assure you the last hours were a lot, but definately not fun :)
-

cRPG mod:
- snow instead of rain on snow maps
- cap archery wpf to real wpf
- change bows to cutting
- item maintenance, breaking
- change the income to xp per minute
- figure out new wpf formula (test with different builds)
- after death, trigger the equipment screen
- auto refreshing when stuff breaks - also, when you buy equipment or update your skills. checks while it sends the bonus.
- fix xp bar (calculate gen bonus ingame)
- strategus: check bows for difficulty - checking all items in all gamemodes now in the server, nothing done on the website any more
- add a message "xyz, owner of abc castle" when he joins the game'
- add male/female to DB and send the info ingame
- fix spectators being assigned to teams and getting xp/gold bonus
- update player with ingame screen
- store admin commands (kick, map change...) in server log
- fix bug with whistle when joining in a middle of a match
- rework weight nerf, make it work in %
- added optional level limit for servers - it's using the battle_earnings_multiplier if you are > you will be forced spec.
- added autobalance by banner (autobalance value to 2)
- added autobalanceless mode (set to 0)
- normal autobalance = 1
- the multiplicator will only rise if the losers team AB score is at least 70% of the winners

Is there going to be solid info on gear maintenance?
-
There is going to be peasents servers ;:D
-
Wait... pike with penalty with shield, you mean like, pike can be used with a shield?
-
hate you
but please remove the trigger of equipment after dying, ot just mean losing rounds without spawning
-
Whatever you do, please put removing weapon repair at the top of your list.
-
Its about three hours late since I had to run off to work, but here is a backup in case the repository goes down:

Seems like great work so far. Thanks a lot!
-
Isn't there...like...a typo in the version number? Or are you going to decrease it until we hit 0.0?
-
damn
should be 0.200
it was late, and I wrote that while evading a shitstorm :P
-
I had a blast while playing the beta so I'm really looking forward to try things out this evening. Thank you so much for your efforts!
-
Obvious noob question: how to update? I am asking because I extracted all to crpg folder, and now my game crashes when I try to log onto any server.
-
Delete the old "cRPG" folder from your "Mount&Blade Warband\Modules" folder before installing the new one.
-
Thanks, it works now!
-
my warband kept crashing, then i figured it might be a patch ;o
-
I'm exited. Thanks for the great patch, chadz... this will certainly stir things up a bit!
Great work! :D
Let's all be kind to poor old chadz now. I imagine this whole patch buisness isn't easy on the old man.
I must admit, even i raged a bit last night when losing 20k in half a dozen rounds. :| But i got over it. Let's all try to give the old donkey some love! :P
-
yeah good work, though the patch needs some balancing but is only a matter of time.
without this mod warband would have way less players xD

added a poll for review.

added a poll for review.
Damn you.
Official response: Better than before.
Unofficial response: C'mon man, there's a hate you option. Impossible not to click it.
-
I really like this new update. Voted for 'better than before'.
Anyway, I've just registered. Do I have to put my email adress in the settings menu?
-
I voted for better, but I dont like that repair thing. Make it cheaper or make equip break less.
-
Well it is easy . You like it vote yes ....
Personally I dont , maybe because of some little bugs that will be solved soon but it pach dont solve cav op and ha op still anioning like after . Frendly cav now have ff so now you get horse kik just at beginig of matches . Sistem of repairs it s a fail it is 1000% sure that you must reapair after you loose and even whit shit stuff you cant earn gold .It is supposed to like 20 % of price ( but no body had told that the most of stuff will cost twise or more ) and 20 % of chance but it is clearly 100 %. I dont know how things will be for tin cans (dont wanna know one of my chart are full plate ) , 4 newbies I recomend to forget about any thing over 5 k . Non sense ultranerf for archers .
Good thinks : loock´s like tin cans are really ****** now so in short time there wolndn´t any one. Now it is not importante be clouse to the fight no earn gold and xp but it is like cav come here to destroy the game play . But whit it salvage repair sistem meybe there will be much less cav .
-
- added autobalance by banner (autobalance value to 2)
sounds really good! maybe i will have a look into the game after 2 months :o)
-
Dear chadz,
The peasant rebellion is quelled, only by the *koff* timely arrival of your supplies.
Hunting archers has never been more fun, and I believe these supplies went a long way to doing that.
Best,
Dexxt
-
Dear chadz.
First of all , thank you for the Patch. It is really a fresh breath of air with so many changes and so much interesting stuff.
There's one thing that bothers me though. Why nerf one ranged class but improve the other one so much that i can forsee (yeah, i got powers) it dominating cRPG really soon. Yes, i'm talking about crossbows. Archer spam will be changed to xbow spam, horse archers will magically transform into horse xbowers (and will be just as annoying, they will just run away to reload, rince and repeat). The high upkeep won't stop people from using xbow, instead they will just try to avoid melee confrontations (high athletics). With the new wpf imrpovements, a dedicated xbowman can 1shot someone from miles away.
I may be wrong of course, but in my opinion, ranged classes and especially crossbowmen still need some tweaking.
Oh and one more thing - can you make it possible to manually repair items in the game ? I manually repaired my long hafted blade on the website and it didn't update on the server (5-6 rounds in a row).
-
repire cost is too much so worse than before
-
Yeah indeed the costs for repairing are terrible.
Just switch it off everybodie's in rage because of that.
-
Just wait for a few weeks.
The ppl with their chargers and plate armos will run out of money soon enough. (atm there is a bug that it costs no money to upkeep horses, after chadz fixes that, it should get better)
If You lower the upkep then some ppl who have loads of gold saved will still be able to upkeep their stuff for months and it won't get any better.
-
Great patch, some of the features are quite cool (the in game update screen for one) and 2h really needed balancing, thanks chadz.
Still not a fan of my items breaking every time a lose.
-
The upkeep cost is way too high. I approve of the upkeep idea, just it's rediculous to lose pretty much all the gold I make for having one nice item.
-
I vote "better than before" but I don't really like the repair system : I have to pay 941 golds for a kettle helmet wich cost... 2107golds !
I don't think the idea of a repair system is bad, but at this moment, it's too expensive I think.
-
Voted "better than before" because here is not the way back.
So - let's see. Anyway - stagnation is much worse than any new improvements.
-
I voted worse... but my opinion is distorted as I only started playing about 5 days ago.
It wasn't nice at first... as with most new games, I was confused and frustrated. I bought the game in the Steam deals and really enjoyed SP in the original M&B, then switched to Warband purely for the crpg mod. I knew at the time, from the things I had read, it was going to be tough to begin with... gathered with the other peasents in a corner, avoiding arrows and staying where the action is whilst avoiding horses. The heavy armored, or even light/medium with big swords pwnd me time after time... for hours on end (26 of them over two characters to be exact) and my one hope and goal was that one day... I will stand a chance... an even chance. Heck one day I was hoping to be feared by peasents too - and that's what spurred me forward (to my 20:250 KD ratio - not including sieges of course).
It took a long time (though obviously most will have played more - but I think 26 hours counts as a long time!) to realise where my points needed to go, and I made mistakes along the way (which I was hoping to correct by retiring) but overall I was having fun! I encouraged a friend to play too and had a blast. Figuring out what to buy next was fun, saving up to add a little more armour to last a few seconds longer to add the additional damage that may somehow turn the tide of battle was awesome!
I was really enjoying the new mod I had found and was looking forward to slow, but steady improvements every day. But now I feel like the great game has been ripped away from me before I really had chance to get into it properly. I feel like I did all the hard part and just as I was about to get my reward it got taken away :(
I realise I feel this way, as we all do with new exciting games, because it is/was something different. I also realise that for many of the older players, a new slant on things is welcome and refreshing. The changes made are for the right reasons, I'm sure... and in the end I will agree with what was done. For right now however... I'm back to being confused and frustrated.
I doubt it'll be long before I start having fun again though... I just wish I'd had a little longer and reaped the rewards a little before the change.
I would like to know a few things however... I understand that the item only breaks when you lose - my question is how long does the item last before it breaks? Or is it by chance... and if so what percentage, and is each item different... do any stats affect the item's durability?
The main problem I am seeing (which will, I'm sure, be addressed) is that some items repair cost is more than the item cost itself. Is this, again, modified by stats in any way?
-
Archery : way better than before
Upkeep : complete fail
-
There's a small but annoying bug with this version. I cannot select all my items during the game. And yes I have all the strengh and the agility. I think it is because of the item slots, i have too much items.
Items not showing up : Heavy Crossbow, Tempered Side Sword
Items Showing up : Longsword, Knightley shield, Pike, Bolts, Torch ( ^^ ) and siege ladder.
-
Over all, everything is good, besides archery.
The cut damage, new animation, lower WPP, and lower levels does not make archers balanced, but gives them a disadvantage.
On my HA with PD4, 155wpp and bodkin, it took 5 arrrows (FIVE) to kill a light armored archer...shooting another HA, with medium armor, 5 arrows hit him (not the horse) and he did not die...he was later killed by a foot archer...
Am level 29 now, so one of the higest levels around atm...is this all the damage I can even hope for in the future? Because my level 18 alt can kill some people as melee in 2 hits. And he doesn't have the problem of missing a shot.
Am not asking to have what we could have before, but I think that bow damage could be changed back to pierce. We wont be 1 shooting people with pierce, but it should let us kill mid armored people with 3 arrows. Arrows pierce anyway (unless you glance them, in which case they will cut you), why give bows cutting damage?
Cris
P.S This reply is about archery as a whole, am not talking about HA accuracy at speed, which is rubbish btw.
-
I appreciate the work you put into this mod chadz, but i really really do not like this patch at all. i was hapier before!
-
can we have patch notes?

I totally Agree!
Yeah i was a ElephantRidingLOLiKillyouHA many of you should know me :-)
Now my Impressions of the Patch:
Positive:
Encouraging Hybrid Build; thats fine and i wished it.
Upkeep maybe High atm but the idea is fine and can be evolved.
Negative:
Archery is totally broken. HA is a waste....why waste? Subotai raging or whining? NO, i normaly try to shoot the guys but now? i trample them....no way of shooting, i get a lance and trample them to death what i always tried to avoid, but now the guys encourage me to trample and abuse it.
Yeah i know and have seen the "dont cry" "HA must be nerfed", but i answer: was not HA old better with few skilled guys who were, i admitt a major pain in the ass, as HA or now rampaging peasant trampling Monsters of Horseriding?
Xbow is far too strong, i dont know why the guys who were OP before are spared? i dont know why.....
For my Opinion i wont cry....i get a Lance and trample the Nerf Demanders till they poke....they wanted it (my Heavy Cata is eager to trample)
Make HA as it was before...reduce the Dmg, reduce the Drawspeed but dont fuck with the accuracy because it is bigger than my horse and as a projectile the Horse is far more better.
-
While I do appreciate the effort, I don't really like most of the changes.
Upkeep System: If 20k was your projected "Average Joe" equipment, that may need to be looked into further. I'm not so sure "Joe" can afford his 20k worth of gear right now. Also, I think the entire system would be better if you aimed for a higher figure, like 40k. This would allow a decent "knight" build while disallowing mounted armored knight of doom builds.
New 2H thrust animation: TERRIBLE. It barely moves when you thrust. It's like a 3 centimeter thrust, really. Aweful. "LOLstab" was better.
Shields: I've heard the shield skill does not increase coverage any more AND all shields got a size nerf. Way to nerf the most underpowered class in crpg.
Archery: The cut damage for archers provides a welcome distinction between xbow and bow. The new animation is ugly and unnecessary. Simply eliminating the WPF bonus from retirements, adding the levelcap, and changing bow damage to cutting was enough. All further nerfs only serve to make archers suck rather than balanced.
XBOW: Haven't experimented enough; Will be testing further. Honestly, it looks OK IMO. The damage nerf is fine if no one can afford armor. On the other hand, if the "Salary Cap" is raised from 20k to 40k, the damage nerf to Xbows may make them not worth using much. We'll see.
On a lighter note, with every other class in CRPG nerfed, making a polearm d00d is as attractive as ever!
-
I can clearly see what would be most common scenario of whine. Here it is:
Team A after 2 wins in a row take the best weapons/armor and win till the end of the map, cause team B is pinned and choose the most cheap/value efficient equipment they can afford. After some glorious battles doomed whiners come to forums and blablabla about game balance, tincans, HA, elephants etc.
-
[..snip..]
Archery is totally broken. HA is a waste....why waste? Subotai raging or whining
[snip..]
Luckily you won't be able to afford cata-trampling all the time. You we're probably lvl 40 before, now way lower. Still you wish for the same power?
If you wanna be a good shot, pick normal foot archer. Horse archers have their horse to run around with, it was silly that they were as accurate and powerful as foot archers (who were totally OP too). Now the sillyness has apparently been reduced, hooray! HA should be annoying harassers working at enemy flanks, not tanks crushing everything like they were earlier.

How many good HA you know? be honest.
And where those guys always trampling or shooting?
I agree that the shooting speed was insane....but totally broke one class? I would like too see you Tincans....which are plenty....when your class would be nerfed like this....but why it wont happen? too many Admins and guys around chadz who tell the same shit "Im a Tincan, Archer x shoot me, HA y killed me plz nerf"
-
As a relatively new player (only been playing for a couple months) I'm pretty happy with the changes. The only thing I'm wondering about is what is considered "average" gear. As my first test I was running with 20k of gear as that's what I heard the upkeep was balanced for. We lost the first round and I lost about 2,300 gp. It took the next four rounds just for me to make that much back. So now I'm running with about 7k worth of gear.
It might be easier for players to manage if only one item needed repairing after a loss. Maybe the most expensive item? Since the way it is now, if you lose the first round you generally feel you'll lose the next so you equip cheaper gear. That puts you at an even larger disadvantage the next round.
-
Can't download from mb repositiry, it always stops half ways and fuck up.
Please, put up it on torrents, not from some crappy site
-
After some testing rounds, I do believe my future cRPG time will be dratsically limited to maybe some duels and Strategus battles. Normal battle is not enjoyable anymore. I'm not a tincan, but 1h/shielder with mediumtier armor and not much sparegold for this upkeepthingy cause of many hard-worked-for retirements. We were underpowered before, and now no difference. Yeah Mercs (@Cyber, Olwen and the other bunch of "I have a high opinion of myself and you are a noob"-thugs), I know that one can still be on the top of the scoreboards, I was and I likely will be again if I would be motivated enough and would have some fun out there. Now it's really just some mindless peasant(armor)slashing, some arrows inbetween from enemyarchers which dont do that much dmg anymore and a bunch of idiot friendly horsemen bumping you half to death.
Nope, not with me anymore as much as used to. Before I had fun and was challenged to be good. Now I just need to concentrate a bit, get used to the timing or just stay in the back and grind gold/XP. No fun, no me. Gonna go back to League of Legends or WoW for some time prolly.
Stop listening to the noisiest whiners and actually get to know the gamebalance yourself, then it might have become a good patch. This is just utter... crap. 63MB of spacewaste on my Harddrive.
-

This. The winning team equips their best gear, loosing team equips their cheap gear. Players are forced to do this since the loss is almost always greater than the amount earned previously (unless you are extremely lucky and on the winning team every round)
-
Strange, I was certain someone would've mentioned this by now: Siege.
Item damage is a bit unfair for defenders, and exp/gold bonus is ridiculous for attackers. Battle is fine, it became much more fun with the patch, but siege is seriously broken.
-
...The winning team equips their best gear, loosing team equips their cheap gear...
I'm sure this is not what the devs intended. Maybe items should have the same chance to break if your team wins . To balance this out the breaking chance has to be reduced.
There will still be a reward for winning rounds as your gold multiplier will increase.
-
Hey Sup dude wanted to say man would lot of help if u would post patch notes with new feature and correction to the patch otherwise people will bitch and complain. I like the overall things you have done to the mod but WTF is up with the upkeep cost and stuff and there is no way to check to see how much damage is being done to the armor and weapons so do we know how much to pay and and how the he'll dose it work. Well that's the only real complain I have to say. Keep up the great work on moding bro without you M&B:WB would have died long ago.
-
Having played only few games, I say the patch looks neat. The only really annoyng and totally useless thing is the trigger of the equipment after dying and after winning, really chadz you were supposed to be kind with drunkers, you can't expect us to remember to press that bloody done button after having alt tabbed and trolled in the forum....

The point of the patch is letting the people specialize or going hybrid without excelling in everything like it was before. If you want to play as HA you can't expect to do the same damage with the same accuracy og a foot one. An HA has the possibility to virtually spend the whole round untouched by enemies and still damaging them, this is his main "power".
Also every good HA know that he has to rely on the trample of the horse on time to time, ever played Khergits in native?
-

There were few good HA, and they always shot me - I did not mean that you used to trample, just that you won't be able to do it now because of the upkeep.
Totally broken it was when I was trying to fight you full plated heroes riding on a tank horse with my zero armor, high level foot archer and often got outshot. Not fair, not fun.
I played foot archer, 2h lolsworder and a thrower and am honestly happy that the first two got nerfed as especially the archer was ridiculous at times.
-
My experience so far goes a bit like this--
Round 1: A game happens, followed by the worst autobalance system in gaming.
Round 2: Losing team strips to nothing, winning team puts on best armor. I have yet to see a game where the team that wins in Round 1 is later beaten.
Round 3+: With no future autobalancing, wins and losses are virtually assured and it's a waiting game for the losing team to pray for the next round. The rich get richer, the poor get poorer.
On a personal note, please for the love of god make team selection more than just a preference for the game. I play with anywhere from 2-5 friends daily and we'd love to be able to play together.
-
I agree with whatever Heroi says. The only good part about archers is that they cant go through my plate! :D
-

So, you complain about the autobalance being bad, but you want to be able to manually chose teams. Err... LOL?
-
My conclusion after various rounds :
I'll make a rage-pause by now and wait for the costly gear to vanish, then for the horse users (if some are left) to learn avoiding teammates.
Do you have to pay the upkeep for horses ??? It seems not
-
So, you complain about the autobalance being bad, but you want to be able to manually chose teams. Err... LOL?
Yes, at first it might seem counterintuitive, but nearly every other online game has found a viable solution. You're forgetting that only some players will actually have a preference. Autobalancing can occur around team preferences. Besides, I don't need to get my way all of the time, but I can guarantee that if I play with 4 other friends we will all start on different teams. It's completely reasonable to ask that team selection has a bit more weight than it does now.
Try to be a part of the solution.
-
little question now...why we dont get any exp or gold?!?
-
The point of the patch is letting the people specialize or going hybrid without excelling in everything like it was before.
Huh ? Who was excelling in at least 2 type of weapons before patch ?
Now, if you want to specialize, it will be very costy (wpf way), and if you want to be hybrid, it will be very costy (upkeep gold way).
So, i don't see how this patch is letting people specialize, since thoses peoples won't have as much wpf difference as hybrid.
You can't call it specialization when you're not even sure now to kill your hybrid class in a fair duel. -_-
-

Were we playing the same game? The one with Tears archers railgun, elephant who becomes 1+shield tincans when dehorsed, full plated HA railgun and so on?
Now you have to make choice, that's what I meant

Funny, because banner based auto-balance does exactly that.
-
Meh, this patch will completely ruin it for me, mainly because of the repairs and the amount they will cost, I would have liked to keep upgrading my armors buying better, but now I have to keep on just saving up for repairs.
-
Only thing I'm interested in this game was archery. I was determined to keep playin no matter how bad it gets nerfed but this is too much for my determination.
- Thanks to the wpf change accuracy is a lot worse now.
- Thanks to cutting damage I do a lot less damage.
- And thanks to the new animation I shoot 2x slower now. Besides being slow it just comes strange I cant aim anymore. And the worst thing is everytime I cancel a shot with the right click it pulls another arrow from the bag eventhough I already have one in my hand.
I could have lived with the first 2 but this new animation just ruins the game for me.
Thanks to ppl who created this mode, I had a lot of fun playing.
-
Yeh, I'm thinking of packing this in.
-
I would just like to be able to test it out. I keep getting kicked from NA servers, and now they don't show up on the server list.
I did play cavalry pre-patch, and I'm terrible at hand-to-hand. I smell a big hit to my cash savings coming up...
But, overall, when the ashes settle, I think I'll like going toe-to-toe with more folks in leather armor as opposed to black plate.
-
Archery is just good as it is. Stop crying about it.
-
Oh, and throwing got overnerfed. The nerf to all the shoot speeds is not counter-weighted by the improved "speed" of having throwing weapon proficiency. With power throw 7, you can't throw a rock across the distance of a baseball diamond. It's truly horrid that they thought it necessary to nerf EVERYONE across the board.
My opinion: Put all item stats back to the old stats except the bec. Keep the new names/models. Lose the shitty archer animation. Put two-handed animation back to the way it was. Keep the new heirloom system. Tweak the upkeep system to allow the average player to easily maintain 40k in gear. Give a window of time at start of round where you can leave without losing equipment. Give shields back their size. Huscarl shield is size 33, buckler is size 3. Huscarl shield is NOT 11 TIMES bigger than a buckler. Who are the geniuses who think this crap up?
Honestly, the only things that were REALLY necessary to bring balance to the force are the following:
Level Cap: Stops everything people were bitching about with the machinegun archers, agi spammers, etc.
Removal of WPF & XP bonus from retirement: Works in conjunction with above.
Friendly Fire on horse charge: Brings them in line with every other damaging item in the game.
With the above changes, the game would have been balanced. Any further changes that effect balance should have been closely scrutinized to determine how much of an effect they would have on not only the balance, but also the "fun factor" of the game.
Honestly, if chadz and the Devs are listening, I'd like to extend an offer to assist with balance issues in the game. I'm sarcastic and snappy, but have a level head and can analyze things on both sides of the fence without bias. Either way, good luck fixing this.

Offer.... REJECTED.

Fair enough. Edited to fix my wink.
Like I said, good luck either way. And glad to know you're listening.

I would really like to say I like or dislike the things you just did to this mod but since I dont understand what has been done, its a bit difficult.
I was 30 full archer with 18lb of gear. I was shooting quite fast (more than the bert archer I know irl) and I had a positive ratio not by much.
Now I am 25 full archer with 10lb of gear. I guess when I get back to where I was I will shoot straight and fast enough to compete. As for the repair... I can loose 3.5k or a bit more if everything is broken (never hapened yet) and for now everything I lost because I lost a few rounds, I got it back the next map... In 1hour I even made 3k.
I'm happy to see that I am less of a threat to everybody. I found it dumb that I could take down someone chasing me at close range. I did not see the ''less protection aura on shield'' yet. Tried to shoot at feets and it's still incredibly difficult it's the same for the head. I was really looking forward to be rewarded for a patient aimed shot to the head of a shield weilder still, it magicly hit the centre of the shield ^^.
As for the general feel about the battle server dynamics, I also think that loosing team breaking gear mean that the winning team has a even greater advatage going to the next round. If you are someone that need to win to be happy, this new system does not help you at all.
Finally, I just think that if we knew what we were talking about (complete and clear patch notes) we would be able to comment better because now it seems like everybody is talking about they'r personal experience without seeing the big picture.

I spent a lot more time getting to lvl 15 before the patch. It let me redo my stats so I fixed what I did wrong and now lvled even faster. Also since I just started a week ago it was really hard to lvl do to dying at the begining to an arrow or bolt anywhere. I lvled10 levels in about 3-4 hours up to 18 already! I don't understand the repair costs, but i am gaining gold extremely fast as a village archer. Thanks for the faster lvling it will attract more people. On side-note didnt see any NA servers up last night... oh well im stuck in EU..
Thanks for patch!

mhm
after reading the most posts in this forum so far i decided to not test this version, unless there is some more information.
i am a casual player, used to play some rounds from time to time; when i logged into the website today my char dropped from 31 to 22, whereas others like two posts above dropped from 30 to 25. why? at what base? i don't know, so i can't tell, if this is a bug or working as intended (assuming it is *meant* to drop, which i don't know either).
furthermore i did not understand the upkeep system, which i am a little bit afraid of, since i am dead at the low end of the roster most of the times (usually 1-hitted at 120 yrds).
since i do not understand, what should have happened, i can't tell, whether or not i can keep on playing or should wait for a fix.
best regards

What happens now is what happens after every single change in this mod - people whine. Give it a try yourself and either see that they're wrong or get used to it.

Retiring is removed?

Retiring is either not reenabled yet or the 1 week timer starts from patch release.

what happens now is what happens always when there is a request for more information: ppl do not understand the question and simplify it as "whine".
1) is it meant to drop? (there is no drop mentioned in the list on the first page, but i don' t know)
2) at what rate would it drop (assuming 1 is true)?
3) are the rates different, so that a 31=>22 vs 30=>25 is possible?
the older i get the less i understand it: why are ppl spending loads of manhours (i would not want to guess the amount) working on a mod (or code or whatever) and after that refuse to share infos, which would take about 30 mins and quit 80% of the trouble?

There is going to be peasents servers ;:D
Isn't that really stupid? I mean since you can get close to the soft cap in like 2 days of playing? And make enough gold to buy whatever gear you want?
-
Strange, I was certain someone would've mentioned this by now: Siege.
Item damage is a bit unfair for defenders, and exp/gold bonus is ridiculous for attackers. Battle is fine, it became much more fun with the patch, but siege is seriously broken.
This remark about siege is absolutely true.
There is no longer an objective for attackers in a siege match, because when they've got their x5 multiplier, why would you capture the flag within 6 minutes if you can do it in 10 or 11?
I've played a few matches with this patch and attackers even 'ordered' other team mates to 'not capture the flag'. Attackers did even run away from it to avoid the round (and the gold and xp flow) to end.
The other issue with siege is now that being a defender really sucks, because:
1) your multiplier will be reset to 1 after your first round as defender even if your team did a great job to hold out for like 10 minutes
2) your items will be damaged, so defenders get an extra penalty for just being defenders
I know we all have to get used to the changes, and it is easy to say it was 'better the way it was before the patch', but in the case of sieges I would definitely agree with that statement, since both teams then got rewarded for their efforts and defenders had a good chance to "win" (by defending the castle for more than 6 minutes).
Wouldn't it be possible to change the multiplier in sieges depending on the time the defenders defended the castle? If the flag was captured after like 6 minutes (out of 12) both teams get an increased multiplier of 0.5 for the next round. And if it was captured after 3 minutes, the defenders get an increase multiplier of 0,25 and attackers of 0,75.
The multiplier could for example be reset if the map changes.
And depending on this time: item repair cost for attackers if they used over 6 minutes to capture the flag, and repair cost for defenders if the flag got captured in less than 6 minutes?
I think that might restore the objective of sieges.
-
How about: defender start the first round with 5 times multiplier, and attackers with 1x. That way, in order to get faster xp and gold, the attackers would be inclined to capture the flag fast.
Every time the attackers win, they get a +1 to the multiplier, and the defenders lose 1.
The only problem with this is that you're back to the beginning when you're at round 5, and attackers have x5... which I don't see a way around now.

I agree with this, and something extra :P
When you are defender it is certain your multiplier will be set to 1 again, because its impossible to win as defender. When I tried to join the siege server this evening it had a pw when there was 66 people in it, and it didnt go away until it dropped to 55. Took half an hour to wait, but at least you then you can play and be dropped in defenders everytime :)
The switching of teams all the time on the same map is a hassle too, but think thats game related?
Anyway, so after my computer crashed after 10 minutes in the server I had to join again. But wait; it had the pw on it again :D So I joined the other siege server that was filled with 30 people. Seems the xp/gold doesnt change at all there :|
Is it because of number of people or is it the server this is all set by?
For battles these settings would seem very nice, but for siege its not rly optimized.
Greetings, MarchRisker

I'm sure they have thought of the problems with siege right now, but somehow the changes they planned got not realized yet.

Couldn't have said it better myself!
Some sort of documentation is a VERY good way to avoid tons questions and loads of whinging!
Still, Keep up the good work, it's a really good mod. Some PR work wouldn't hurt though ;).

Hi there, first time posting... I'm not a long-time follower, but I still like the way the mod was before the patch. I know the patch was meant to reduce heavy armor and calvary from dominating the game, but this measure seems a little harsh. I don't even really mind the weapon degradation. Losing the weapon is annoying, but the worst bit of this patch is the fact that it seems to encourage running away, hiding or being afk because experience and gold is gained at the same rate no matter what, no matter the proximity to a large battle. I was actually very impressed with that system because it meant that teamwork was actually rewarded, even if the team lost. This patch makes it so that even if the whole team just sits there naked, they still get a moderate amount of gold and experience. Granted, the other team would get more, but there's no real incentive to fight together as a team any more, tin cans or no.
-
I think the patch is an overall improvement, however, some significant fine tuning is necessary:
Sieges need to be fixed. They were fine before, mostly, but now they're horribly skewed in favor of the attackers.
Item repair should obviously not go into effect when an admin changes a map, or under other related circumstances.
Teamwork needs to be rewarded more than survival.
-
I don't understand chadz mind. Why make us earn so much more money, and lose more. If something needed to be changed then do it by lowering it, don't keep raising the risk and making this more of a luck based mod rather than skill.

The problem is that teamwork is now totally dependent on the players, rather than being forced to do it by chadz. You can now lead 4 members into a wide flanking manuever, designed to help your team win, and not get penalized because you weren't part of the mob. You can actually use tactics that are useful, as well as clever, and that is a great thing. If people are deciding not to play as a team, then let them know what you think of them, and encourage others to do the same. Once they get shunned and ostracized, they'll either change, leave, or start trolling hard enough to get banned from the servers.
-
:( Hello, Im very noob in cRPG, but i liked it the last versión, noobs could die, team diying or team killing, bein archers, disturbing etc.
The skill and the progres in armour, gold, xp, etc... was slowly but sure and with stability for noobs and some veterans helped us (to improve ourselves or to die).
Now with the patch all seems fool and chaotic, no fun, no chance for improve nor armour for noobs. Battles are more unbalanced, cavalry raise all peasants and infantry...
Last versión was a very good mod, and with Strategus was super. Please reconsider and "give noobs a chance" 8-)
-
Simply remove damage to weapons and armor, and lower the gold output. The whole concept of needing to repair damaged items in the way that this game is played by the majority of players is not appropriate.
-
- Please find a way to fix the servers (NA in particular) that keep kicking player every round.

I'm afraid I don't really see your point. What exactly was preventing you from being clever or using useful tactics pre patch? I don't really like the idea of having to heckle and jibe someone to get them to play the game the way it was meant to be played. Also, the old system still rewarded the losers, albeit less. I really loved the excitement of the building jackpot of XP, only to lose (or win) it because of a really amazing player or duel. Now it just seems very mediocre. The losing team was punished by not getting the full value, which I found very effective in terms of incentive. "Oh, you got that, but look what you could have had!" Now the losing team is punished by losing effectiveness, unless they happen to be rich, which seems less like fun and more like a job.

Pre-patch, if I led a squad to disrupt enemy archers, get behind a shield wall and mess it up, or defend a sniper in a remote spot of the map, I, and everyone on the squad would miss out on "mobbing the foe" xp bonus. Not very fair, considering we did a good job of helping our team win, and a mass charge or mass camp, while being a tactic, should not be the only tactic. As far as incentive goes, not getting broken gear + the bonus modifier for winning the round isn't incentive enough to play as a team, and actually listen when someone suggests something that may work? chadz has made an EU Public cRPG TeamSpeak server available, and there is one for the NA crowd as well, so who's fault is it that they are both empty all the time? The patch is new, give it a bit for players to get used to it, and you'll see people adapting to a new battlefield, just like they've always done.

I like most of the changes, especially the cleaning up of the database synchronization with the server and such. I also love the new xp/gold system and the idea of having servers for low level players.
I like most of the ideas behind the balancing changes.
I don't like all the bugs with the servers that are currently occurring, obviously.
I also don't like the buff to horse speed/bump damage.... the bump needed a nerf, not a buff :/
Last but not least, I love you chadz (and everyone else that works on cRPG) for making this mod and continually working hard on it.

Heh... the above tactic was one of my favorites, and quite frankly, I didn't need the xp or gold for the feeling of accomplishment if I pulled it off. It was the satisfaction of knowing that I had done a good job and been rewarded (albeit mildly in xp) for it. As for not getting broken gear, why should I wear gear in the first place if it's just going to break? I'll still make money either way. The bonus modifier is nice, I suppose. I like the idea of picking a playstyle and building on it, and not having to shift back and forth from peasant clothes to not-quite-peasant clothes. And as for listening to someone who thinks they have a good idea... I dunno, I guess I just don't trust that most people know what they're talking about when it comes to strategy. Or that the most complex strategy I've seen so far in the game has consisted of "Go up the left hill." In the end though, if this system sticks, I might stick around, assuming some minor tweaks to the cost of equipment and repairs happen.
But what would you think of a system where the team shared the bonus xp and gold, instead of it being limited to only those around a fray? We would still get to do our shield/ninja thing, and we would still be rewarded equally. As for gold, I dunno, I kind of like the way it ticks up automatically. Thoughts?

That's what we have now though, it's not limited to those around a fray any longer, the whole team rises and falls together thanks to the win bonus multiplier. I like the way gold ticks up as well, it's like getting paid by the hour for a job well done, people just need to not draw things out to make more (get you fired IRL :) ). As far as strategies, you'd be surprised at how many fledgling tacticians we've got in this game. A pretty solid percentage of us came from games like Medieval Total War (and its variants) and games like EVE, or other strategy games, some Single Player, others requiring communication to be effective. Give people a chance, when someone suggests something, and you like the idea, back him up in it, and don't be shy about suggesting your own strategies.
-
Funny, because banner based auto-balance does exactly that.
If what you're saying is that the design should work that way, then what I'm saying is that it doesn't, not with any noticeable regularity. It still doesn't explain why no meaningful autobalancing seems to occur after the end of the second round, nor why in practice there seems to be no semblance of order to team selection.
Lastly, I'm trying to provide meaningful feedback here. There's no need to be snarky. I'dhoped the feedback would be appreciated.

Things I like:
*A few new weps/armours (was hoping for more, like where's the kilt to go with the claymore???)
*Slow archer fire, apparently less dmg too (rly though?)
*Horse bump team damages (even though it hurts when you're the victim of a team horse, it's overall good imo)
*New xp system (it's a bit fucked in siege mode though)
*Using high tier gear hurts you(but hurts too much, financially)
*Anime hair colours (although i cant seem to use it on a male char, and i also have 3 fucked up chars now where i cant access their inv or stats since i changed their appearance)
Things I dislike
*Im not a total noob but i have to wear byrnie, leather boots, and have to rely on my spamberge as my expensive bit of gear (it's 15k to buy now, before heirloomed. it's 3k to repair, with is 12 rounds of x5 multiplier or 60 rounds of x1 - that's a little harsh)
*Xbows seem more harsh now (im thinking it's bcos i wear less armour, but they always hurt anyways, right?)
*Hmm there's not really much i dislike, honestly, and im usually a guy who dislikes change

This post has 2 flaws.
First off, you said 45 pierce on a ranged weapon. Thats more than any polearm in the game.
Secondly, with 45 pierce, you spelled the name wrong. You wrote "English Longbow." The correct spelling is "B-A-Z-O-O-K-A"

It is 18 strength worth of energy doubled by the mechanics of the bow.
the PSI of an arrow hitting you at 150 mph with a steel tip and a surface area of a pixel, is far more damaging than the broad tip of a pike, crudely lunged at you at 20-30 mph

chadz broke the mod.

Kharn, do you want laser sight with your english longbow of death or do you think it's too much?

I say the patch is too fresh. Just give it some time and the crew will work out the flaws. Even if the patch is creating similar effects to the U.S economy...

Actually, with PD9 he couldn't hit a shit. So it is more like a shotgun.

No, not these "rofl longbow agincourt pwnage" videos.. AGAIN. Please.

After playing for many hours last night I think the maintenance is fine. At first I was a little bothered by it, but the secret is to just have a decent amount of cash to begin with. Just enough to absorb losses for a few rounds, because you'll eventually make it back up. Running with 26k worth of gear I break about even.
-
For me, the adventure with this mod is over. I don't feel it's interresting any more. It's a pitty there is no old version available on any of the servers. I would gladly support such server with donations, as I did with this mod in the past.
-
As for now, the best patch ever. Reminded me of these old good times on NA servers, when lots of skilled Native veterans (Fedor, John, Akmar, Ctrl and many others) who could turn the tide for their team regardless of their armor and weapons still played this mod on a regular basis. The current patch is a good incentive for me and for them to return to battle servers.
The only bad things about it are the disconnecting problem on NA servers and a broken duel mode (which was pretty much the only cRPG mode I played during last month or so, since battles were no fun at all), but I hope those would be solved pretty quickly.
Thanks for the patch, chadz!
-
I agree there is no reason it should be pierce over any other bow. In the spirit of the other bows it should stay at cut.
The English longbow did its work with the force of impact, not the type of damage. 50% more than the regular longbow is fine, esp with the PD requirement of 9
For those calling it a shotgun, yes... the English longbow was a beast that took a lifetime of training to use correctly. If your halfway there you would not be able to fire it straight.
-
I voted for better, but I dont like that repair thing. Make it cheaper or make equip break less.
I Agree with you on this one i think it will be alot better if you were to do this because the games challenging as it is,thats without being scared about your armor being damaged
-
best patch ever!

great

I miss old longbow animation...
