Title: I'm retiring from CRPG
Post by: Thucydides on December 06, 2011, 03:15:41 pm
Farewell fellow players, crpg has become stale for me. For some odd reason, i no longer enjoy playing CRPG like i did when i first started back in january. A myriad of different reasons led to this decision but ultimately, CRPG has lost that freshness that it once had and now i find that crpg has become far too serious and repetitive. Melee combat is only engrossing in the duel server now, or during a full battle/siege server without all the troll archer alts that seem to plague low pop servers.

Anyways the important part of this topic is that i have 3 masterwork looms, +3 GLA, +3 Cuir Bouili, and a +3 red wispy gauntlet. Post in this thread and tell me why i should give you one of my looms. Bonus points for newbies and people i like.

I have being playing M&B series from first M&B beta. I will continue playing this mod for long time, so give them to me and they get in good use in future  :)

Don't give the heirlooms as I too get bored now and then from the repetitiveness of this mode (Archers roofs 24/7) but no game has this combat yet.

But if your 100% going to leave I would love the guantlets or the armour as they would be useful on my main.

I don't post much but I play now and then when I'm up to crush some skulls and if it's a bonus point I don't have any archer alt :P

I don't really know you but have seen you on the battlefield (I remember your name because I'm a history major who has studied a lot of Classical works ). Nonetheless, good luck with your future endeavours. But unless you're really committed to quitting, I would keep your stuff on the off-chance you do return.

Hi man, too sad to see you leave, even tho we probably never met. More people are quitting recently, sad to see

Anw, i could use the Couri Boulli, to protect me from the ranged scum...

i'm probably gonna log into several alts that i've made, i just feel like these looms are worthless to me now that i don't care nor want to grind for looms anymore. The small benefit i get from these looms would service noobs far better since they can get a head start and be spared three generations of dying just to get a fully loomed item.

looms also make me lazy in combat, crutching on gear gets boring after the 100000 kill.

Well, if that is the case then I would love your Red Wisby Gauntlets. I definitely could use them since I'm a second generation and +3 gloves seem kind of far off otherwise. Plus they would look sexy with my current armor.

You could give these items as a Christmas present for some player of your taste, maybe a newish player that seems like a good fellow. Or you could also donate them for prices of some tournaments.

Hope you'll be back someday.

Sorry to see you go, Thuy. You should hop in Chaos TS sometime :)

We play other games, too! Payday, Skyrim (I know, but we tend to talk about the game as we play it, l4d, etc etc) Hop on and you're more than welcome to join us :)
~~

As for why you should give me your heirlooms;

I will honor your heirlooms, they will not be sold off like some trinket for crack money. I will kill with them, and your name will receive the glory of their death dealing.

I will continue killing with those weapons in your name until the day you return for them. Then I will tell you tales of glory of the destruction and fear they have caused. I will recite to you the laments of the widows whose men they have slain.

tl;dr I'll keep your shit for you, and if you ever feel like coming back, they'll be waiting for you.

You should give one to me since i will pay for it in jokes. You get 50% now and the rest upon completion of the transaction. As agreed here is the first part of your laughs:

I think you should give a loomed item to me, as I live in the c-RPG ghettos. That's right, I shit you not. In the Australian server I often make do without multipliers, hence have to grind much harder than anyone else to get anywhere. I've been playing since last years March, and haven't got very far. I play on a daily basis.

GIEV ME YUR STUFFZ

Sad that you quit, but I feel for you.I would like to quit aswell, but im too addicted.

So why should you give me one of your loom?

Well I´d love to have the GLA because I love playing polearms and since im wearing light armor I could affort to use it a lot of times.

Give them to newbies, or maybe make an offer to Ramses for using it as a prize for tournaments.

I'm an huge ass, so I think I deserve a loom.

No srsly, just as I said to the other folk that left the mod, give it some time, it's a great mod with a great system in it, making a break from time to time like I do works wonders.
But it's up to you.

Cheers.

I would like to have the +3 wisby, there's no need to give those stuff to some1 who doesn't use them. If you're goin to give them to some new1 make sure you tell him which price to sell them and so on so he won't make mistakes =)      And well only reason basicly for me to have them is hmm... well nothing actually, I'm fine now, I'm gen 4 so I just got my 1st +3. Ofc I want to win lottery and so on, but if you don't know any1 else who to give wisbys give them to me, I'll promise I'll use them.

Take a break, come back, seems to have worked for me a couple of times, this game gets to a point where it's nothing but frustrating, but it's a game i can't stop playing, a break might do you some good...

But really, sad to see a long-time player leave. Enjoy your life, good sir.

Don't give them to anyone, you'll regret it later, believe me.

If you give them to anyone.. give it to a clanmate because they will definately be glad to have you back and give your looms back :)

Take a break, then come back when you feel like it. But if you have to give away looms i surely would appreciate one ^^

I would make use of the Cuir Bouili or Gauntlets. On gen 2 atm and started multiplayer M&B late October and enjoying it a lot. As someone else mentioned though you might regret giving stuff away, and it might even make you not want to come back if you get that urge again.

I could even buy either off you for all my gold. Been using ~15k gear to save up, got 174k atm. That way you get something back for them

Give it to Clanmates or just keep it - you might want to come back after a few patches

Trade them for mw katana and mw lamellar and join ninja :)

I find playing Ninja the most rewarding and fun of all playstyles I tried..

I want the crispy gauntlets :( so cool to have unique items like that

Besides, Thomek is right. Change your playstyle and you'll discover the game a second time.

U should maybe give the game another chance with a new playstyle as thomek said, but its your decision.

If u rly do choose to leave, i could rly need the wisby +3 to protect me from all of these archers, i dont have a single +3 armor to protect myself. Help a melee lover out, And i will hunt the archers down, with the new strenght from your gauntlets. :)

Its always sad when a good player stop playing crpg. And i wish you good luck my friend :-(

Also i like to have one loom. We are few members in our clan, they like to have better weapons, so i give Them some of my weapons, also sold few weapons, the crpg gold i use on strat, i mean buy trrops and strat gold for crpg gold. Now i dont have any weapons to use, now i want to fokus on my self and loom my weapons, because i also want a better weapon :-)

As for why you should give me your heirlooms;

Give them to this man ;)

That way you won't lose. In case you return he'll give them back to you and in case you don't return, you ain't gonna lose anything of value anyway.

Giving looms to new people is stupid because they first need to learn how to play, not to crutch on gear from the start. Also they will quit playing when they find out that besides grinding there isn't much to do in this mod. And third, because whoever start playing c-rpg now is a fool, we both know why.

I gave my looms to Xant, you give yours to Dextaa. If any of us start playing again chances are high that we'll get them back because they seem like decent people and if we never come back at least we helped someone who's playing this mod as long as us and therefore deserve those looms more than some noobie.

If you give them to anyone.. give it to a clanmate because they will definately be glad to have you back and give your looms back :)

Or give them to him. Give them to anyone who'll return them in case you come back and it's best if that person is friend or clanmate of yours.

I'm an huge ass, so I think I deserve a loom.

No srsly, just as I said to the other folk that left the mod, give it some time, it's a great mod with a great system in it, making a break from time to time like I do works wonders.
But it's up to you.

Cheers.

Taking a break only makes you forget how bad this mod currently is, but as soon you come back all those memories come back. Mod needs a major overhaul imho, it's too "serious". chadz and crew have some weird ideas, I really don't know why they develop the mod in this direction.

Its up to him who he gives stuff to, but I don't really agree with some of that. Personally I have no basis of reference for M&B. To me cRPG is multiplayer m&b and I can't compare it to any "good" version you might know. To me its decent as it is as a new player without other experience in the game. It could use some balancing but the most recent changes like loom nerfs put the game in a better direction. Nerfing ranged damage at the same time would have been good, but they might be considering other balancing options

I don't see the reasoning behind making sure newbies have a harder game to play than experienced guys. If you suck at the game you won't be crutching on gear, it just levels the playing field. You will still be at a disadvantage in player skill, you just have gear to match the more experienced guys. You start off with -10 body armour compared to those with +3 gloves/body armour and -3 damage/-1 speed on your weapon, not to mention if you are inexperienced you need to use weaker (cheaper) gear or you waste money while learning the game because you have to pay upkeep.

You should give me all your looms so i can clone myself and equip the clone with the exact same gear i already use

Actually i use mail gauntles.
Gief wisby!

Edit again: Also if you are only semi sure about quitting keep em.
Else if you can't stay away i can also totally offer you a global ban so you can not play at all

When I started playing this mod there was more than 200 people playing on Pecores server, we all stayed/moved together (I might be wrong but I believe couple of times there was almost 300 people playing on that server),  archers were completely OP and super deadly but for some strange reason, a lot more respected than nowadays. People used to hate on two handed tincan spammers (because weapons used to glance so much that many of them didn't need to block, just spam their flamburgers) and tincan heavy cavalry (like the_finn). Ninjas were annoyingly deadly because of their swing speed.

Right now game seems a lot more balanced, with many nice additions we didn't have at that time but for some reason game is also A LOT more boring than it was during those days.

Im new to Crpg I'm really enjoying the game at the moment, I think the game mechanics are really fun and enjoy mostly playing siege with a few friends.
Im mainly using two handed at the moment which is interesting and if you are still handing out loom points then I'd love to have them.

I don't have a clan or anything but I think given the limited time I've been playing I've improved alot and any help I can get would help me push on and be more successful.

And of course if you returned Id gladly return the items

It is exactly some of these reasons that kept a lot of us Native, but occasional cRPG, players from playing cRPG full time, that and that equipment/levels was an important factor - not only player skill, attracting a lot of nåbs to the early cRPG community.
The current, I dare say very balanced, cRPG is the WB mod with the best class and weapons balance I've seen. Vikingr came close but ranged and cav were heavily nerfed there, to fit the setting. Everything was better back in the day, perhaps you're just tired of the game ?

Yeah, I think c-RPG was "better" for Leshma because it was new. Everything feels a lot better when you're still in the honeymoon phase. I joined c-RPG after the big patch in january, when you didn't have level 45 tin cans running around with 13 athletics anymore.

I enjoyed c-RPG the most back then too, but I can't really say it was a better mod.

I enjoyed cRPG the most with lvl 45 Guys, actually, all without upkeep.

Even those damn plated superaccurate Archers werent such a pain in the ass back then.

Hell, I even miss lvl 45 Plated Mtemtko on Plated charger bumpshooting me.

I would suggest that you don't give your looms away, just quit for a month and you might want to play again after and you might regret giving your looms away. If you are gonna do it though give me Cuir Bouili or Red Wisby gauntlets plz so i can be awesome, i just started playing yesterday.

I would gladly accept any of those three items. I support all things mele and will forever be a sword and board/2H hybrid. I don't know you seeing as I am fairly new to the game, but I can definitely put your items to good use!

The Cuir Bouili would be rather nice, if you choose to give them to me. Obviously though I am not a new player, heh. Regardless, I would appreciate it. I would end up giving it to a clan mate who could use the help, in all likely hood, or host a tournament for it and give it as a prize.

It would be nice though if you choose to give the looms away to "noobi-ish" players, ones who are past gen 1 and thus you know they will stick around.

If you give me one and send me a screenshot of your character I will draw him for you and mail it to you! A little something to look at and atleast remember the game and the fun times. And I am a noobish character, I score high in the rounds but I am only level 30 on my 1st gen so have not retired yet.

Sadly agree with you. I used to live and breath crpg a year ago. I took a long lay off and came after all these changes. The repair system has completely ruined everything I loved about this game =/ Doesn't look like it'll go away anytime soon either. Oh well good games come and go. More often than not it's when devs dick with aspects they don't think will take much away from gameplay. Fuck you chadz for ruining the best game I ever played :P

Better, depends on the point of view. Less competitive ? Certainly.

The stat disbalances and low reward for winning made everything seem not worth raging about. You lose ? It's not going to ruin your day. You die ? Heh, maybe your killer had 5 more levels. Playing an hardcore game with the best melee system I ever knew of is great, especially when the skill level goes so high as it is in cRPG. But we all need a little bit of mindless/relaxing gaming too. It doesn't exist in cRPG anymore

Keep 'em. Or trade them for MW Rusbow and MW Tartar arrows. Then get some payback.

Just trade them off for some shiney shooty shit and try a new playstyle, I was BORED of mod, looked forward to nothing but playing skyrim etc...then I loomed a short sword and a light shield and now I charge/rage at archers with 7 athletics and spam them down before they can run or swap weapon. It's also fun to camp a roof for a few seconds, wait for an archer to walk past and jump on his head.

Oh and to many in this thread: Dont beg for shit on the internets, have some respect, do the right thing and tell him the truth: he should keep them or trade them off to make a new playstyle for himself.

Ok here is my suggestion:

Give your looms to Kajia (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,19393.0.html) for his services to the community! This artist has provided us with awesome cRPG loading screens and has not asked for a reward!

If you truly want to reward the community as a whole with your gift, this would be a good way of doing it.

Hi,
If you still have any looms, please give at least 1 to Cepeshi. He is one of the friendliest guys in crpg I have ever met. He had been selling his looms to earn money to give it to his friends for their upkeep and I think it's the high time to say "thank you" and let him have fun with some looms finally. He sacrificed his looms because he is a cool guy and he cares about his friends more than about all the other shit and this is the reason why he should get some kind of award.

Hey dude,
i don't know why u leave because crpg seems to get better now.
Ok, on many servers, the balance lacks a lot cause' all archers and cavs are in one team but sometimes there are few servers without many of them.
I would advice u to stay and play a bit longer and look for " only melee " server or server with not so many archers :P
Or spend 1 point in shield like me that helps a lot against these creatures :)

If u can't stay because this game is bored to you, then u can give me your gauntlets :)

Im Polearm char gen 2 , but i think u should stay.

It was good to run into in the duel server again, I missed rolling with the PxC guys and wrecking rooms with pure slaying skill. I remember when I first saw you play, you destroyed people with that axe, and used that thing before it was really well known. I hope you find something you enjoy even more with your new found time. Now as far as those looms, I had to restart my character from scratch, and I'm dead broke, so if you could throw a fellow PxC guy any of those, I'd be more than appreciative.

Enjoy life, and don't be afraid to come back,

Give me looms because I'm:
1) Poor.
2) A cool guy.
3) A fellow golden mustache guy(see pic to the left for proof)
4) A fellow duelist(or something)
5) Poor.
6) Clanless, that's kinda like being a noob, right?
7) Poor.
8) In need of new armor since I just sold my Churburg.
9) Poor because I didn't get much for selling the Churburg.
10) Thinking about switching back to the GLA.

I am a poor peasant horse archer without any looms and little gold!

Sadly, with this dangerous upkeep problem, I have of late been forced to dress in rags and use broken arrows.

However, I do my damnedest to help my team and pew pew the enemies to death.

I would prefer not to have to beg before battles, as my horse is not very good at tricks...

However, keep your looms, eventually you might come back and then you would be rather sad.

Both are from Greek mythology, actually.

Deus means god in latin.

Might be it derived from zeus.

Both are from Greek mythology, actually.

apparently it was pronounced as (Deh- OOS) and (Zeh Oos) not as the monosyllable that we currently use.

from what i gathered learning ancient greek, the genitive and dative form of Zeus is Dia and Dio and that the "Z" was pronounced as a "D" in certain dialects. As both are indo-european languages, it is also hypothesized that Zeus is derived from the sanskrit Dev or Deva. Super cool stories all around.

i don't blame you man this patch is worse then the last one lol. i was a die hard player on siege but stopped after the patch. i really didn't think you could make 2h and pole-arms easier and glitchier.

I have been playing on the on and off Australian servers since almost two years ago and due to my inefficiency with marketplace trading, I am gen 6 and only have 1 masterworked item.
I would like the GLA specifically but any of the other two would be nice.
On a side note, you probably shouldn't quit unless you are absolutely sure you will never come back (eg. you are getting married or something so it will be physically more difficult hehe) because many people quit games often then come back again.
Thanks

@Shaksie Read date of first post, Thucy's most recent post. He necro'd the thread because he came back.

Also I'm gen 23 and have 19 looms. I, too, am a bad trader.

Ah!

Well in any case, welcome back! You should query the folks you gave your looms to about getting them back. Usually, people are decent enough to give 'em back.
