Title: Disarming System for cRPG

Hi folks.

Take a look at this 5min duel from the movie Knight's Romance
(click to show/hide)

I believe we should also have a system in cRPG that allows players to disarm their foes. For example a huge axe in the hands of a skilled knight should disarm the archer wielding little sword scared to death of melee.

Yes/No?

It would be cool, not entirely sure it would be worth the hard work. It will probably be pretty rage inducing. I say no, cause I always love it when someone with a little weapon kicks ass.

If this was implemented, the archer would just not get that little weapon and run even more than he does now, so NO.
Not to say, 1hers would be even more handicapped, and you already have the stun between weapons of different weight!

how could you distinguish between the skilled knight and the terrified swordsman that wouldn't lead to some idiot occurrences in the game.

Sounds cool in theory but would not really work out well in a game like cRPG.

If we have disarming, we better also get a punching buff.

Add knockdown!
Make heirloomed gloves do more damage!

A quick punch to the face just might give us a chance to pick up our weapon. Right now, if you were disarmed by someone in medium armor, you'd have no chance.

I vote 'yay' but only if you're unarmed and chamber an attack, maybe armed if you chamber several times successively but then most players would've died by then anyway.

As much as I love disarming in Vikingr I don't think it would fit well in this mod, different pace and styles of combat and I don't think it would sit very well with the players here, different crowd.

Side note, the new breaking spears and lances in Vikingr is incredibly awesome!

How about if you manage to chamber a weapen with your fists, the weapen the enemy is wielding drops to the ground therefore disarming him.

Lot of nasty thing like disarming, are easier with a 1 handed (or an one and half handed) (and without shield of course  :D) weapon than with a big axe.


So more power to the 1 hander without shield!

I suppose you could reward it for 3-4 successful chambers in a row.

Although that would depend on how hard people perceive chambering to be.

                          vs.
Poor peasent with lame wooden stick.(He can block every single swing.)
