Title: Siege of Szigetvár or Battle of Szigeth

In January 1566 Suleiman went to war for the last time. The siege of Szigetvár was fought from 5 August to 8 September 1566 and, though it resulted in an Ottoman victory, there were heavy losses on both sides. Both commanders died during the battle—Zrinsky in the final charge and Suleiman in his tent from natural causes.More than 20,000 Turks had fallen during the attacks and almost all of Zrinsky's 2,300 man garrison was killed, with most of the final 600 men killed on the last day.Although the battle was an Ottoman victory, it stopped the Ottoman push to Vienna that year. Vienna was not threatened again until the Battle of Vienna in 1683.

So this siege implies with its 30000 losses on attacker's side compared to 2500 for defender's that a 12:1 ratio is needed to succeed in a siege as attackers.

I think we seriously need to buff castles and such, and lower HP on ladders and stuff.

The defender should have just taken the flag down so they couldnt spawn then kill then while keeping the flag down, that way they would get all the tickets and the equipment.

Zrinsky or Nikola Šubić Zrinski was Croat. Ofc he was under Hungarian rule but still. Hes great hero here in Croatia and in Hungary aswell. He even has got very cheap liquor named after him which I emptied once and never again :)
Not to mention clasical piece made after him, which is very popular in believe it or not Japan.

Yep we took quite the beating from the Turks, but ultimately the invasion was halted and we survived with our religion and western mentality and culture. Which cant be said for the rest of the region.

Another example of light mobile cavalry > heavy cavalry

The siege of Szigetvár and the depictions of the epic last cavalry charge out of the city inspired all of Europe back then. A defeat ultimately but a moral victory

As it was said back then by the pope Leo X the title  "Antemurale Christianitatis" which Croats got in 1519. for defending christian Europe. The deed is largely forgotten now but i guess you would have half of central Europe as muslims if the "wall" fell. Oh and historicaly and even now Austrians, Hungarians and Germans have been friends and supporters especialy at rough times and those are the times when true friends show.

Hehe yeah.

Gárdonyi did the same with the Siege of Eger, where approx.. 2000 defenders won against 40.000 turks.

He exaggerated the turk army size to 200.000 in his book, what is now a classic.

Still 2k v 40k is an amazing victory to be honest.

Also my friend, we were the Shields of Christianity for sure. Without our ancestors, the Austrians would've met a much more stronger Turkish force, and maybe Vienna would fall in their hands.

Ottoman forces barely reached Vienna, but they failed.

austria is the point i said. We crushed through germany but noone appeared to fight with us so we turned back. We took Uyvar which was the in habsburg castle in slovakia.

This is last reply to here i forgot how EU hates about their defeat against ottoman empire which they trying show their small victories that not even equal as our akinji's victories lol

In 600 years a small state turns into an empire of eastern europe,balkans,northern africa,middle-east,arabia,western caspian border,black sea,anatolia and lots of other shits.
Every empire has a rise and fall . Im proud about my ancestors. They didn't treat bad to their peoples, they didn't force them to change religion or else they let everyone live as good as they can under empire's flag.
There are 2 nations on europe that you shouldn't fuck with i think. Turks & Russians history has lots of examples ...
(Turks picked on Russians and Ottoman Empire started to fail,All europe picked on Turks -After WWI they could start counter attacking and taking revenge of past 6 centuries- they failed,Napoleon and einstein attacked Russians and both of em failed.)
Im sure Croats,Czechs,Greeks,Austurians maybe even French have something to be proud of in history but if we gonna take "who's dick is longer" way,  i'll slap your face with mine.

Hell yeah, Turks are awesome, even today in Croatia we have a judge who sentenced some Serbian guy from Krajina because of war crime (he was beating our prisoners during the War of Independence) with an explanation that "his ancestors together with the Turks fucked our mothers for 600 years".  :wink:
