I think there should be a reintroduction of  the Exp and Gold punishment for TKing. Also a small reward for kills.

Somthing along the lines of:

For 1 kill
Exp:50
Gold:1

For 1 team kill:
Exp: -1000
Gold: -50

it's old system. Changed with the last patch.

Why? It is quite simply:

IF I DIDNT KILL RIDER BUT HIS HORSE, THUS SAVED 5 PEOPLE FROM MY TEAM, WHAT WOULD I EARN?

Also, it would be peasant hunting.

And the last, but not least:

50 exp these days is nothing. NOTHING.

10 to 15g for team hit, 30 for team kill. Spam would be a different reality.

I think it is fairer that a player who kills horse and gets nothing then somebody standing around, doing nothing and earning as much as all others!

The current system is stupid.

Teamkills should be penalized, that would be good.

The whole point is it's a small reward that makes no big difference.

I don't think XP or gold gain should be changed. The way it's currently done rewards teamplay the most, which is absolutely necessary in a game like CRPG.

That said, I like the idea of penalizing TKs with gold. Say, 500 - 1000 gold per TK. That would make people take a lot more care with their swings and their aims.

A system such as this would have huge advantages over reflective damage:

1. Gameflow does not get diminished. With reflective damage people would get too careful, thus robbing a battle of its momentum.

2. Players get penalized, not teams. It often happens that people newer to the game don't mind their surroundings and walk into the line of fire of a ranged fighter just as he is about to fire. Result: damage gets reflected, ranged player might even die. Team is robbed of better player. Not good for team.

3. Game stays fun. Accidents happen, we all know that. Most of us have TK'ed someone accidentally even though we were being careful. This way, if a TK happens, the player get's penalized in a way he decidedly feels, but it allows him to continue playing.

1000 gold is enough for everyone to feel the pain without it being a crippling penalty. It's low enough that only repeat offenders really feel the burn and those who accidentally bludgeon or skewer a friend realize they have to be more careful next time.

I (unintentionally) teamkill quite often (high ping, melee is gambling for me) - and I am all FOR a gold punishment.
AND for a reward.

BUT: both should not be KILL-based but HITPOINTS-based.

Idiots teamhitting in the spawnarea usually don't kill you, but take 50% or more of your health.
Archers and light infantry often soften up targets, but don't get  the kill.

A massive penalty for each hitpoint to friendlies and a symbolic exp. reward for hitpoints to opponents would make things more just.
Hermit Status report : feeling a little social. Threatening melee my old friends with a comeback. Greasing the string of his old longbow. Carving certain names into the tips of his arrows...

Current system is good because you dont have to worry about getting xp and gold. You get it no matter what and you can make some new crazy tactics which were not possible to use before.
It have reduced grind a lot. Of course im not talking about retirement addicts :)

I think this is a good idea. Perhaps +40 exp +2 gold per kill (yeah it is nothing but whatever) and I like a lot the idea about punishment related to hitpoint damage rather than kills , because there are a lot of idiots that hit you cause they know they aren't going to kill you.

Something like -10 gold  * damage would be OK, perhaps even a lot... or -5*damage.

But this would be probably more difficult to code, shame cause it is a really good idea...

Both things should be balanced so a good player (not a very good one) who makes a team hit every 10 people he kills (or something like that) doesn't lose more money than before, cause that would change the equipment people use.

I disagree with this in the battle and siege servers.

I feel that it would end up with more kill hungry twats running around beating the hell out of their own teammates.

I'd like to see this system (or the old one) back in the duel servers though.

I'd like to see this system (or the old one) back in the duel servers though.

+1 - reward in duel servers (not much, maybe 250 exp per kill at gen 1) and punishment for tks (2000 exp+100 gold at gen 1)

I don't agree on your tk punishment, it's punishment enough to tk a player, it makes me feel bad and I also get -1 kill...

I don't agree on your tk punishment, it's punishment enough to tk a player, it makes me feel bad and I also get -1 kill...

we only want reward on duel servers to avoid that
