General Discussion / Trade Cut

Would it be at all possible to lower the cut % at least?

I just don't see what purpose it serves, since every auction you post is also already costing you money.

I am not made of money and I don't have +3's to trade around for just 100 gold.  :cry:


Even at a cheap price for loom points this is currently an extra 30k gold that goes missing..

General Discussion / Loom point lotto*?

I'm getting bored of selling/auctioning loom points.

Would anybody be interested in a loom point lotto?

Idea being, you put up 5-10-20k, whatever, and you get that many "tickets" when the raffle comes.


Obviously I'd still like to get a decent price for my point, and would add some incentives if I got a lot of money.

Well, added a poll.  What's everyones thoughts?  If I think I'd get a decent profit, the auction will be over in about a week.  :mrgreen:

I haven't really seen anything in the rules about this, but I did see a thread about how to change CD keys.

So I was basically wondering if it's okay if I played on my brother's cRPG account.  He's got a 2H character that I'd really like to play, but I don't want to mess with my main character's build.  That was kind of irrelevant to the question but whatever.  :mrgreen:

Also, if this is allowed in the rules, to what extent would strategus be impacted?  I won't play strategus for him but would I be allowed to accrue gold on his character by playing his account?

I understand that, simply because there's a DTV server, this doesn't mean you're interested in working on it any further.

However, I think that with a little bit of work, it could be quite a lot better!



Hey, you've already put some work into it, so why are you neglecting your creation?


Well, I digress.


- Fix the gold situation.  I'm not necessarily asking for more EXP - it's a game mode for fun, after all.  But there's no reason for the repairs to be as crazy as they are, considering the meager amount of gold *you could potentially* earn.  Hell, just add in a DTV-specific currency, Silver, which you use like Native gold to purchase equipment.  That would add a lot to DTV.

- Tweak the AI a bit, have them try to flank you, perhaps, instead of all bunching up together.  Right now, you just swing swing swing and they all die, unless you miss.  Then, you either make your next hit, or if you get hit yourself, you stand a very good chance at dying.  Basically, there isn't much strategy or teamwork involved there.

- Add some special SFX!  I'm thinking Quake sounds.  First Blood, Headshot, DOUBLE KILL, TRIPLE KILL, KILLING SPREE.  HumiliationYeah, you know what I'm talking about.  :lol:

Strategus General Discussion / Strategus - Honor

Many modern Browser-based games have developed a system such as this.

Basically, crushing your opponents through means other than skill will net you Dishonor, and defending underdogs in conflicts will grant you Honor.

This will be determined by the two side's gear and troop situation, and who is attacking who.  There would of course be a threshold, perhaps a % + 50 troops, so that a 49 troop army can still raid unarmed caravans..  Equipment would also be taken into account.


Anyway, to get to the point: You accumulate Honor, and with Honor comes perhaps an increased Strategus production bonus, and extra EXP while fighting in Honorable battles.  In essence, the strat spoils go to the winner - but if it was a fight in which the loser had no chance, they'll see an increased EXP reward.

This will hopefully ENCOURAGE large factions to give their opposition a chance.  They will still have the troops/gear in surplus to use later, of course.  Factions may have to ask themselves: Is assuring myself victory in this battle worth the Dishonor? And when it does, the side that's losing will at least go out in a big bang of EXP and may have a chance yet to produce the goods needed to recover.


As an example: Naked village slaughter with a huge geared army - dishonorable.  This happened a lot in the NA conflicts, and was basically all DRZ did to fiefs.  Most of the NA VS DRZ battles would have been *slightly* Dishonorable, as they had a sizeable ticket and massive gear advantage.  Red VS Green army battles would have been honor-neutral, as they were pretty evenly matched.


Of course, Honor will be displayed on the battles page, and one can not lose honor as a defender, or gain it as an attacker.



As there has been some discussion of more maps, split EU/NA on different servers, etc. this may improve strategus without the need for the extra "continents" so I am curious as to what everyone's thoughts are on this.

Was on Siege, round after round, he was simply opening the gate (on defense, we kept being auto-balanced back together) for the attackers, as a defender.

Eventually, he TW'd a guy, out of "Revenge" for having been killed.  No it was not me who was TW'd or TK'd.

I'm sure you can check the logs to see if he opened the gate - it was a map with double doors, so no message about opening it, unfortunately, which may be why he was griefing so much.

Yes this is pretty much my way of dealing with losing round after round due to this guy's ridiculous antics.  :mrgreen:

You can see his friend Dalai Llama was coming to his defense, though in this case he (Dalai) wasn't doing anything wrong.

He should have known better, as this is apparently not his first dance with the banhammer.

Suggestions Corner / MOAR HERALDIC GEAR PLEASE

I am suggesting we get some more Heralric armor options.  My personal request would be for a Heraldic Surcoat over Mail.  There exists a Green Surcoat over Mail, which looks cooler than the Mail with Surcoat, and has 1 additional body armor.

Also, I'd like to see a Heraldic Tunic (no mail) or Heraldic Gambeson - something so Light Armor users can display their flag with pride.  :mrgreen:


And while the Transitional Armor is phenomenal, some more heavy armor options would be appreciated.   Light / Mail and Plate would be good candidates, or perhaps the Corrazina armor.



How bout some Heraldic Helmets?  My eye is on the Great Helm...  :wink:

I'd be glad to do this myself if somebody could recommend their favorite brf editor, and there's a chance this would be implemented.  :P

Beginner's Help and Guides / One item, multiple offers?

The Market allows you to put multiple offers up for the same item, but does this actually work?

As in, "I will trade this item for this item, OR sell it for this much money," or does it not allow you to complete either transaction since the item is being used in a different offer?

Strategus Issues / Couldn't spawn with gear (not the common gear bug)

I was unable to spawn with gear for a Strategus battle.  It was not the common gear bug that you get by joining too quickly, as several others had joined before me.

I selected my loadout, hit OK.  When I spawned, I had nothing.  I reconnected, repeated, and still had nothing.

It did not actually REMOVE the equipment from our stockpile (as we only had a couple of the items I was trying to spawn with, I noticed that) which, I think, rules out the more common gear bug.


I did not actually die, simply scavenged the battlefield, so I don't know if I could have respawned with gear.

So... how bout it?

Seems we miss a fair amount of "grinding" due to rounds ending, and who doesn't hate it when they lose their 5x with 1 sec 'til the next tick?

Some limits could be put in place, such as "only if it's more than half way to the next tick" or whatever to better balance this out.  Additionally, if you want to keep the gold balanced, you can make that tick run a check for equipment breakage (it would roughly be the same break chance-(E: comparing gold earned/spent repairing) it should  be slightly lower, though, assuming an item can't break twice)

General Discussion / (bad) Duels

I just have to ask - why are there so many bad duels?

Do people seriously care about their KDR on a duel server?



I'm talking about people who rush you and kick/slash your face as soon as the duel starts,(which is actually against the rules, right?) people who "practice" polestagger, and of course MAUL TRAINING!!

Isn't the idea to actually learn how to better play and not just slaughter everyone?


Personally I will fight anyone/everyone, even a shielder when I've got a pike, but it's a little sad when Mr. 35-0 actually runs to the spawns to try to duel & kill newbies repeatedly. (Just witnessed somebody kill a person about two dozen times, all they did was try to block, never attempted a swing.  They sorely needed the block practice, but of course, the guy was using a maul... so they often got knocked down/killed on a correct block.)

And before you say anything, no, I'm not really bothered by this.  I still manage to block some hits and hit these guys before the polestagger/knockdown kill begins.  Unless they chase me down before the duel  starts and spam me to death, though I have beaten a few people who tried doing that before... I just don't understand the mentality.


Edit: Oh, yeah, and unless I was being trolled do people seriously have DUELING builds so that they can do better on the duel server.. ???

Strategus Issues / [Bug] Reliability: Show up, no score = no show

Either there are not enough kills to go around or the opponents do not show, if you do not register a kill or a death on the scoreboard, the statistics make it out to seem as though you were not present at all, even if you spawn and flip flags.

Edit: Actually, this may only happen on battles where there are no enemies.  Just did a 0-0 game which gave me a score and it counted.

Re-Edit: Just finished a battle with a no-show enemy team and got a 0-0 score.  Not entirely sure if the bug was fixed or if there was some other kind  of an issue.



Not really a big deal but thought I'd mention it.

Forgive me if this is in the wrong section or already a known issue, did some searching and couldn't find anything.

Apparently this happens to me all the time.

For the life of me I could not figure out how I was doing so terribly against people.. then when dueling I found out that what I see, as for block and attack direction, is not what the server, and other players, see.


As an example: I was dueling with someone with a pike, and they were preparing to hit me.  I had my downblock held, and was going to attempt a counter-attack.  To them, I was holding left-block, and they were able to send their pike through my downblock (on my screen) which happens to me constantly in battle for all types of blocks.  In this case, no spin was involved.  This will happen with swing direction as well, somebody will be downblocking and I will go in with an overhead, and at the instant of impact the weapon will simply go from a down position to having blocked my hit from the top and back to a downblock as soon as the animation ends.


Watching duels, or spectator after I've died, this problem becomes VERY apparent.

My ping is usually below 100, likely around 60 on average.  Latency does seem to increase the problem.


Nobody I've asked has really been able to identify this problem, and respond with the usual "yeah, you can change your attack direction by blocking"


This is only an issue with cRPG multiplayer.  Any solutions?



tl;dr: the server interprets attack and block direction differently than my client and I want to fix the problem.
