Laptop suggestion

Hi guys,

Im getting a new laptop soon, i really would hope to receive from comments from you guys first on various brands of laptop before i make my big choice on my future (gaming).

The budget is around 900-1000 euro. The size of the laptop doesn't matter. I looking for the laptop which can take a beating and also handles most of the current games decently. (ofc not as good as desktops but at least no overheating issues like my current ASUS laptop)

I would strongly appreciate if you can leave some kind advises here for me and everyone else reading this thread.

Thank you :)

Check out Newegg: http://www.newegg.com/

It's a good site for pretty much any electronic device.

Asus, Toshiba & HP/Compaq make the best laptops as far as brands go.

I would avoid Sony, Dell & Acer, and any laptop with AMD/ATI hardware

Gaming on a laptop is fail

Gaming on a laptop is not fail, I have a strong gaming laptop, and it's 5 times better than my shitty desktop. I bet you never had any positive experience with them. But I agree on that, that Sony, Dell and Acer are not the best but they have some nice gaming models too, their major problem is the epic overheating and shitty material quality. However I disagree on that, that he should avoid AMD/ATi hardware.

I would avoid [...] Dell [...]

Wut? Dell make the best business laptops together with IBM. The consumer devices are crap, but that's always the same.

@OP: Don't play on a laptop. They're too expensive and you can't upgrade more than RAM and maybe your HDD. But if you really want to buy a laptop: the most important part is warranty. I only buy laptops with at least 3 years warranty, preferable on next business day (which means that I call the support line and on the next day someone comes to my place and repairs the laptop). And don't buy a consumer device.

Wrong.

1) cant ever upgrade video card.  most hardcore gamers will be doing this once a year to every other year
2) heat. video cards and high cpu usage generation tons of heat that most laptops cant deal with, they're not designed to handle that much on regular basis.  have fun with random lockups & restarts
3) you get less bang for your buck with laptops:  miniaturization costs money
4) shit for sound.  horrible soundcards and support.

Theres a reason why Dell lost their sales lead to HP, its because they cut corners and conduct themselves with one motive: greed.  They're a shitty company to deal with and fuck their customers on a regular basis.

I highly doubt that any laptop with the possibility to change the graphics card costs less than 1000 euros.

2) heat. video cards and high cpu usage generation tons of heat that most laptops cant deal with, they're not designed to handle that much on regular basis.  have fun with random lockups & restarts

Don't buy consumer devices. The HP elitebook of a colegue got CPU temperatures up to 92°C, so that's a common problem.
Did you ever get your hands on a Latitude or Precision model?

3) you get less bang for your buck with laptops:  miniaturization costs money

Of course. But 1000 Euro is no big budget for a gaming laptop, but you can get a very decent desktop for that amount of money.

4) shit for sound.  horrible soundcards and support.

Never had problems with my Intel HDA soundchip. It's nothing special, but it's ok and 100% compatible with everything I need.

Theres a reason why Dell lost their sales lead to HP, its because they cut corners and conduct themselves with one motive: greed.  They're a shitty company to deal with and fuck their customers on a regular basis.

Maybe it's because I'm a Dell business customer, but I really never had any problems with Dell. Alienware is Dell too, though, and I would never buy anything from Alienware. Maybe we're just talking about different things?

Hi.
I have a Lenovo (Y560) Laptop. Didn't find a game I couldn't play on it. I paid 720 € and I can recommend it.
Greetings.

Quiet you, all the companies you just listed buy stock components, OEM them, and stick them in a case and sell them for absurd amounts in terms of "Gaming Laptops". It's only worth going with any of them for some sort of deal that smaller resellers cannot give you, rarely will you find these deals on high-grade gaming laptops.

If you want a media laptop/desktop replacement that can handle games, look into the brand Sager, a derivative of Clevo products.

If you're in the states check out XoticPC.com, otherwise shop around for Sager or just look for Clevo products. NotebookReview.com is also a good place to get pretty well informed on mobile hardware, if you are looking for the best deal, the best mobile computer you can get, do some research on the hardware.

Class M products are tricky piles of shit, so read up.

Alienware if you have the bucks.

Don't ever buy Alienware.

Remember that phrase, and hold onto it for the rest of your life. Alienware's hardware is not up to date, sub-par at best, and it's a designer brand, at least they charge like one. You're paying seventy five percent of the costs towards the case and it's fancy lights, the rest goes for shit hardware that hasn't been updated for seven months.

Dell are bundle of stickss when it comes to this, and Alienware has to be one of the biggest laughing stocks among hardware junkies ever.

Don't ever buy Alienware.
