Gold\exp earning

First of all, I want  to assure every1 that this is not a whining thread, and I totally appreciate new (to me) gold\exp and upkeep systems (mainly coz I witnessed and survived madness before them).
I've picked up cRPG once more about 1 week ago and I'm doing quite well with only 1 thing bothering me - being rather in-game poor. It would be ok if other players would experience same problems, but what I can see from the threads, they don't (in fact, not long ago I read suggestion to decrease amount of gold you gain. Wtf?).
Some ppl say that they play only a hour or two and generate 10-15k in session while using (!) 40k worth equip (jspook in "Jobs, Gold and Repair" thread). My top gear is worth 27k, and I can't even sustain its upkeep.

Maybe I'm missing smth?
All in all this threads main point is sharing your income tactics. As I see things right now, your gold gain is random and fully depends on your team quality (and only slightly on your performance) : you get in the winning team - you get up to x3 - x5 and on the top of the world; you get in the bad team - x1 for lief.

So tell me forum, how do you manage to earn smth decent in this randomized world of cRPG? Cmon, share yer secret and get heaven for afterlife 100%  :D

It's simple. Win!  :D

I'm not kidding or trolling. It really matters how often you win. With higher multiplier, you gain more gold.

How to win? Talk to your team. Try discussing the tactic for next round while dead. I wrote a guide on that ages ago: http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,27.0.html

cRPG is a team based game and a little bit of organization and planning works wonders for those x5 streaks. That's my big money making secret. Another thing that might help is playing with friends or clanmates. Teamspeak and a bunch of friends close to you can help you win more rounds, thus increasing your income. So join a clan or make one.

Oh and remember that repair costs are kind of randomized. Sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you get stuck with a big repair bill. Keep a buffer of 50k or something like that and you'll be fine.

Good luck out there. Don't be shy, try organizing, join a batallion... teamplay for the win. Keep it positive and you'll get loads of enjoyment out of it as well as a nice profit.

You are totally right and, frankly, I awaited such a response  :D  It's just lazy human nature in me which always hopes that there is a way to success with less effort involved, lol.
I'm already having fun with this mod, poverty is the only thing that bothers me tbh  :D

By the way, one secret that might just work:
* Change your banner to one which powerful clan uses. I read about this on the forums and noticed myself : autobalancer always tries to get all clanmembers on 1 side, and, as community supposes, uses banners to sort players. So getting clans banner might get ye in one team with them, thus increasing your chances to pwn.

If those interesting things keep coming, I'll edit my first post to stack them

Besides teamplay, a few quick tips for making more money:
  • Never quit while on x5. Postpone that break a few rounds when your team is doing well.
  • Check out the cheaper weapons. Some low to mid level weapons (2-4k) are actually very good.*
  • Go light or medium armor body armor (studded mail, nomad robe, maybe shirt over mail or at max heralic mail)
  • Use leather gloves or mail mittens instead of gauntlets. Hand armour weight counts 2x.
  • Use light head armor. Head armor weight counts 3x!
  • Use leather boots or other light footwear.
  • Don't grind. Play when fit and concentrated. Take breaks when your team loses.

*1h examples: flanged mace, fighting axe, scimitar, etc...

However, with these light-to-medium armor choices, you will die more.    But hey, you'll also run faster.  :) Don't neglect athletics, i think it's the most important skill in the game.

Don't worry, Dumertone. Your money-worries will probably be over in a few weeks. When you get started, gold is an issue. But the longer you play, the less gold matters.

Well thank you Phazey!
Although I already know most of this, it's good to have these tips in one place, right?

One more question that bothers me - is DtV a solid income source after nerf? Or right now it's more a way to relax after fighting live opponents? Coz now I'm not making more than 2-3k in 40 min session ( 3 times getting to x5 and death from sea raiders by myself, lol)

I believe DTV is half the gold and xp (please correct me if i'm wrong). So no, not worth it.

Just play for fun, don't grind. If you focus on having fun and doing good teamplay, time will fly and you'll be rich in notime.

it's all about team stacking.  Join a clan and play with them only, or just join the team with the most same-clan members on it.

That's how to get multipliers, grind fast, get lots of gold, and support expensive equipment.

Onetime I got 5x all night because I was "leaching" off some clan be following them from round to round, staying on their team.  Just get on the good team, you will go far.

Yes, this is kind of broken, but it could be worse.

There is one more thing: The most player, who are talkign about 10-15k per hour are good players and so the team will have much more multiplier, at least at lower populated servers.

I thought it was 1/3rd, but either way not worth it besides for the lulz of playing with friends.
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

it's all about team stacking.

That's not true.  I've played on random teams against primarily clan-based teams and have won before.  Remember that if your team loses it is in part because you didn't kill the rest of the enemy team.  Just think of Goretooth or Harmless_Peasant killing 10+ people in a round and, by force of will and weapon, making their teams win.

Also please keep in mind that you may also be talking to people who claim they wear $XX,XXX amount of armor and still earn a ton of money... which may not be at all accurate. If any items are heirloomed, the total "Cost" displayed on your character screen is not what you should use to determine your amount of upkeep.

For example, my character screen for my most used/saved equipment states:
Armor: 0h 36b 25l Cost: 64,808 gold Slots: 2/4

Yet... I earn quite a lot of gold with this setup. The problem with this is that heirloomed items increase the "Cost" value without increasing the upkeep value.

My actual equipment cost as they pertain to upkeep:
19,818 Courser
4,386 Lance
3,427 Mail Gauntlets
412 Rus Cavalry Boots
669 Leather Jerkin
Total = 28712

My heirloomed courser alone adds a total of 47,564 to my equipment screen total... which to me, makes that "Cost" value practically worthless. My lance and gauntlets are heirloomed as well which also inflate the total.

I would hope someone could update the SQL or other method used to pull from the database and change it such that it looks up the original value of the item and not the adjusted heirloomed value... until then, remember to take what others say with a grain of salt and do the math manually when you have heirloomed equipment of your own.
