it says steam_api.dll is missing and tells me to reinstall steam...

or
http://download2.taleworlds.com/mb_warband_setup_1134.exe
then install it, use your Steam key to activate it and play.

EDIT: in the main menu of mount and blade you still see 1.142 but when in game you are at 1.134 :) so don't worry (BE HAPPY!)

For me it worked.
I had the same idea a few minutes ago.

I downloaded the Ver. 1.134 from the talesworld homepage and installed it.
Even my controlls and graphics setting exist (it uses the same directory /USER perhaps).

you have to put in X:program\steam\steamapps\common\mount and blade warband

substitute to your exe and play :)

click on the .exe instead of use steam shortcut :)

Can someone confirm that if I turn off autoupdate, Steam Does Not try and correct it? Some people are saying that it still does it anyways...

Go to steam library. Right click warband, then properties, then updates and the option is there.
