you guys are doing things the hard way.
Use Sony Vegas Movie Platinum 10.0
it also has a built in youtube renderer and uploader, that renders and uploads it at the same time with your youtube login.  took me like 5 min or less for the 250mb vid I posted on the last page at 1080p HD
I also use fraps.  thats pretty much the standard screen capture
I use 30FPS for recording .  its noticably smoother, and doesnt tax the machine during recording on larger battles.  also, most AVI or MP2/4 formats render at just over 27-29 fps so there is no need for more than that or you will just inflate your file sizes.
