Convert it with the AV program I mentioned, I think they even have a "Youtube format" which turns out well on the little big screen.  The last video I uploaded, which is three minutes  and some long, took about fifteen minutes to upload as it's 118MB.

You probably could, though I found AV extremely simple and easy to use.  It also has loads of odd formats, a few of which I tested when formatting my videos.

you guys are doing things the hard way.
Use Sony Vegas Movie Platinum 10.0
it also has a built in youtube renderer and uploader, that renders and uploads it at the same time with your youtube login.  took me like 5 min or less for the 250mb vid I posted on the last page at 1080p HD

I also use fraps.  thats pretty much the standard screen capture
I use 30FPS for recording .  its noticably smoother, and doesnt tax the machine during recording on larger battles.  also, most AVI or MP2/4 formats render at just over 27-29 fps so there is no need for more than that or you will just inflate your file sizes.

and wow.  first person mele is ugly.  never tried it.... ill stick to 3rd person after that.  to each his own

yes, yes.  free, was the approximate cost.  I looked around for quite some time to find the program I wanted to use (that was camtasia studios) and it was 350.00
So I kept looking for some good free ones, but those were really hard to use (like Wax).  So i used pirate bay to get what I wanted after a friend reccomended Vegas to me.
