I'm pretty sure he either set up knights Templar with some other dude, Or was a grandmaster (but im not sure on that).

I think he set them up and is meant to be one of the guys on the emblem.

Him and Hugh de Payens were the founding members. There was roughly 5-7 others that joined after them.

The story goes is that the picture with the two knights on one horse is Hugh and Gaudfred. They were to poor to afford 2 horses so they shared one.
