Mostly a good guide but I differ with you on a few things.

1. I don't know why anyone would play in FP mode. Yes, you might have a bit more accuracy, but the amount of times I can sneak up on an xbowman while they reload is pathetic. In 3rd person, you have a good chance to see what is behind you. Honestly, I've tried both types for aiming, and if you just aim a bit above where you want to shoot in 3rd Person (without rain) then the bolt will go straight.

2. Saying that the best melee option for a xbower is a 1slot 2hander isn't true imo. There are a ton of great 1h weapons out there, all of which are incredibly deadly. Elite Scimitar, Long Espada, Italian Sword, Military Pick, Steel Pick, Iberian Mace, and the Arab Cav Sword are some I have used and found success with. However, for melee the xbows greatest asset is shotgunning then back-peddle/outranging. You must be competent at blocking to have some of these shorter 1h weapons.

3. Your "Sniper" build is off. Or maybe I read it incorrectly. 15-24 with 160 wpf is useless. Being that precise wont matter with some idiot dodging all over, and shooting at a still target is easy with less wpf.

In my experience, (2 gens) an 18-21 build is the simpler and more effective way to go. You get 3IF, 6 PS, 7ATH, and 7 WM. 140 Xbow and 100-120 1h WPF.

Fast, and deadly from range and melee. Footwork powers this build.

On the whole though, a good beginner guide and I applaud your efforts for writing it.
But xbow in Europe may be different than in NA.

PS. Visus, if you're so good at Crossbowery why don't you make your own guide?

Looks like claims, especially the "sniper" part. I'm calm as a boa.

This is one of the most well polished guides i've seen on the forums. Amazing job and i was shocked to see it wasn't finished. Also to the people saying "common sense" maybe to a player who has played since beta, but not everyone knows how the trajectory of bolts works (very different than arrows), about shield piercing, or any of the other dozens of tricks that were mention here.

Also, for those who are upset because crossbows are so "accurate", grab one and try firing at mid range. Archer arrows fly amazingly straight across most of the map. Much of the time i watch crossbow bolts drop after a very short range. Not only do crossbowmen have to deal with movement and angle, they also have to adjust for drop and a missile speed that is quite misleading. Having high base damage for a weapon that can't be increased on a percentage basis (just because few take high levels of Power Draw doesn't mean its not possible, PD 7 is a 98% increase to bow damage) isn't a terrible design choice.

Beyond that the supposed accuracy of the crossbow doesn't really mean much. Between equally skilled ranged players the bow wins out most times for actual ranged usage. A crossbow is a sidearm for mostly melee characters, and that seems to be the way it should be.

Exellent guide, especially the videos caught my eye.

Only thing bothering me is that more people will want to play as a crossbowman after reading this.

Amazing guide Dave, Thank you for this! I don't plan to use an x-bow, but some tips are also useful for an archer, and this is the best guide I've seen on this forums.  :o

First person is difficult to handle with but i'm sure that Crossbowmen who want the maximum accuracy should use exactly this.
To say more, i'm playing with reversed vertical mouse axis (Y reverse). This means that my crosshair moves up when I move up my mouse down.

P.S. 80% finished. Edited minor mistakes, added one trick and some sentences are rebuilt to avoid confusing.
