Russians/eastern Europe fight hard and dirty, I can tell you that. I don't think I would want to join that, I don't want to die :P it would be great watching it though.

I personally am looking to join the SCA since they have metal armour fighting, and they have other activities as well.

There is a great community of medieval reproduction and larping in Quebec. The tincans you've seen in the battle of nation video are some of the first here to really get into live blade combat but there is also a lot of RCA players and LARPers in Quebec.

Those video are from a Larp called Bicolline, maybe the biggest of his kind in americas (up to 1500 fighters). Yeah we fight with foam weapons but it's still verry competitive and a hell lot of fun.

Yeah but LARP is more than only fighting :D though the fighting is fun too, especially in big battles^^
We dont need anything others than foam weapons, when people only want fighting they can do it but LARP is Roleplaying and you dont want to hurt your mates (much :D) foam weapons are easier to make :D i build all my weapons on my own ;)

didn`t know that america have a LARP this big, almost as big as Germanys Epic empires, though its our newest LARP which goes every year...
Conquest of Mythodea and Drachenfest("Dragonfest") are both bigger with around 4000 People with people of all different lands...mostly europeans, but we had even a little Group of Americans last year on the Drachenfest ;)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3IyoJFti9Lk
Landsknechte singing before the final battle with ca. 2500 Fighting People there (+Nonfighting some People...we have even People who gives out Cookies :D)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USn0O2DmWn4&feature=related
little video about orcs at the Drachenfest

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t_E-LuxdG9A&feature=related
for the Shogis :D struggle duel between a reallife shogi and a Arenatyp

only about fun :D

though i only fight in little battles with steel weapons, its more fun than big clusterfights without techniques...duels are better :D

you dont want to hurt your mates

it's why i stopped larp since a long time and went for bugurt, fake hits with latex weapons, lighting bolts and orcs bored me

you dont want to hurt much :D

yeah everyone have a favourite thing, though lighting bolts and orcs are only things you find in fantasy LARP...have you tried other LARP Settings? end time larp? zombie apokalypse? etc. they are fun too :D

im primary a roleplayer not a fighter so i enjoy larp even without fighting, this is why i do larp

my problem with fights with steel weapons is that most there cant really fight only spamming(like in crpg :D) and with all the idiots its more likely to die than have fun :D i like more to have duels against a fighter with similar fighting capabilities as me...(again like in crpg^^)

reenactment is good too, not only fighting and possible to have always a good duel partner or a little skirmish with 12-24 people, for me its enough ;)

no, i admit i prefer keeping fantasy into games and books, in reality it just looks too ... geek xD

you get more feelings in bugurt, more adrenaline due to the risk, it's what i like, walking forward shield up with friends on each side, feeling the hit of the sword on the opponent's armor, not being able to see as you want because of the helmet, bashing your enemy in the face with your shield and seeing him stunned, man, so much awesomeness imo

btw, there was more people hurt during Battle of Orléans in France than in Battle of the Nations in Ukrainia

battle of orléans : one guy lost his eye whereas it's pussy fight french renactment with shiny knights and opened visors
battle of the nations : some broken legs and hands

Yeah when you only want to fight this is better. You are a fighter primary im primary roleplayer normal that you have other preferences ;) though you have somewhat a similar feeling when you fight with thousands of other(ok you only realise 30-40 people on the battlefield but still :D) but i know that the adrenaline in a real fight is higher(its better this way^^)

all things have advantages and disadvantages :D
