I'm a SCAdian myself and we fight with wooden weapons, still a lot of fun. The press gets so thick sometimes you can have conversations with the guy you're fighting because neither of you can move.

They aren't using sharp weapons and the arrows/bolts also don't have any sharp parts

They just happened to get nosebleeds and some weaker parts like the ears got damaged but nothing serious.
