Well, in battle mode when you die you have to wait, sometimes for a long time.
So here's some idea:
Place a second map below the main battle map (or in the areas you can't see anyway). People who are dead then spawn in this second area and can play again while the real battle goes on - with no gold boni, effect of the outcome of the real battle or scores, just for fun.
It could be any mode actually, setting up a dueling area would be really easy. Just some giant carpet/hall/arena under the map where people can spawn on (possibly even created by a single script for every map), and you can spawn them 10 seconds after they died without worrying about how to mass spawn.
Well I don't know if that's possible, but think about it, if you could duel while getting xp and in dead time anyway that would be awesome. If you don't want it you can have a checkbox to disable it or just stand around.

If it was possible I would be totally for this, or anything to keep playing and honing one's skills without having to wait too long a time.

Even if when you're dead you can spec good players and learns things from there, or even talks with the other dead players (even if some acts like they are really dead), and dont forget that sometimes being dead permits admin (or even players) to look for abooze and spot delayers and such.

There is a bit of + and a bit of - with this idea.

Yeah. but would be so cool otherwise.

Another idea would be if spectators became "specters" and could float around the map with their model textures made semi-transparent and only visible to other spectators.

i think this wil cause lower fps and more lags.

Actually I think there is a desert battle map which has a prison right at the top of the skybox, it can't be seen from the ground. This room is so far away that the level of detail of weapons and armor drop to becoming just triangles so fps should not be affected. This would be fun but may cause server lag, if implemented 'dead' players should not send kill/death reports to the chatbox, but be able to chat normally.

I hope you mean playing Tetrinet with other dead players  :D

Btw, I think this is impossible without extremely heavy modifications to TW's code, so it's probably not worth the effort.

I'm not sure, but it would make sense if the game modes were completely done in script. If I am right, it might be very possible to do it, but it would of course require a redesign of most maps.

What mode would the dead people play, though? Duel? Deathmatch?

Yeah, I'd hope that when it's invisible (and no mass spawn) it won't cause lag. If it does it shouldn't be implemented ofc.

Give players the option to choose. Immediately upon death a tiny dialog could pop-up, Left click for spectator right click for Valhalla.

Perhaps just allow players to become a specter after death.  These specters, running around normally, could then duel one another.  I don't see how this would increase lag since it isn't adding any additional textures.
