And to the buckler whiners.....
Have you taken a good long look at this
toy you are currently expressing concern over? It is a
Buckler. A tiny piece of steel the size of a small salad plate.
With something that rediculously tiny, you are whining about not being able to block arrows? or catch incoming blades at extreme angles?
Salad Plate.

loginwiki says:
is a small shield, 15 to 45 cm (6 in to 18 in) in diameter, gripped in the fist; it was generally used as a companion weapon in hand-to-hand combat during the Medieval and Renaissance,
as its size made it poor protection against missile weapons (e.g., arrows) but useful in deflecting the blow of an opponent's sword or mace
Hand protection: The primary use of the buckler was to protect the sword hand.
Deflector: The buckler's lightness and curved center made it excellent for deflecting attacking blades. Such a deflection would leave the attacker open for a rapid counter-attack.
NOTE: NOT A SINGLE DAMN THING IS SAID IN THE WIKI ABOUT BLOCKING ANYTHING.
