Hullo everyone, Light here!

Or Eibhlin or Eavan or Aileen or SilverHatTrick or whatever name I use these days

As the title of this topic suggests, I'll be hosting a Minecraft server soon. Which brings me to why I'm here. In short, I'm panning for players and testers who are willing to try something a little different from a typical survival or factions server! How is it different?

"Rise and Fall: Kingdoms" will be an immersive multiplayer experience for players to simulate the conditions of statecraft and ruling, as well as those who are under said rulers. Here, Kingdoms will be forged: not by the owners or other staff members, but by you guys, the players!

So there are no set races or kingdoms or even lore that you guys have to follow. Instead the server will focus on the player's unique interaction with the server mechanics, and will also heavily emphasize player-to-player interaction!

Some examples of planned server mechanics are as followed:

Claimant Wars: Mostly beginning in Phase 1, but possible when a King is usurped or dethroned, Claimants can wage duke it out under certain conditions for the throne!

Statecraft: RFK will heavily emphasize the ability of statecraft: the skillful management of state affairs. As a ruler, you are not in charge of AI that will comply in a coded and predetermined matter, you are in charge of actual players capable of thinking, acting, and doing whatever they want. Know that your nation cannot function without them despite whatever side effects they may bring, and that it is YOU that need them and not vice versa. You will need to prove, or at least make them believe that you are a leader, one that is charismatic and charming, capable of keeping them safe and secure, and being someone who has the ability to keep them content. Failure to do so can lead to your people discontent, unruly, rebellious, or they may just outright leave you in hopes for something different. Don’t be surprised then if you are suddenly being challenged, or even dethroned for someone they believe is more better.

Customizable Domestic Policies: As a monarch, you can choose to change the makeup of your Kingdom, whether it be to create an Aristocratic society or Plutocratic society, Serfdom vs Freepeople, Laissez Faire Economy or Mercantilism, Centralized Government vs Decentralized Government, Warlike vs Peaceful, etc! Choosing one domestic policy over the other can lead to you attracting more people to your kingdom, gaining benefits, and losing out on some as well.

Strategus: Something that all of you cRPG players will be familiar with, RFK's Strategus is inspired by cRPG's Strategus! Things such as scheduled battles and sieges will be prevalent upon the release of Beta, but there will also be different and new factors such as movement via tiles, the ability to build key constructions such as large refinery centers for resources, training facilities to create new troop centers, setting up castles in key positions for area-denial, ports to traverse the sea for war and trade, etc!

Customizable Kingdoms: A Kingdom should differentiate itself from other Kingdoms. Upon becoming King, you can choose to declare a “culture” that your kingdom is based off. Example being, “My kingdom is based off Feudal Japan”, and your architecture and culture will resemble Japan. You will also automatically differentiate yourself when you have to decide how your government will run. It is also your choice to create customized offices of government (though generally, the simpler the better), and to form other unique ways to attract more people to your Kingdom.

Lore and "History": Unlike other RP-like servers, RFK will have only have the barest of background lore. Instead, the lore will be born through the game play, where the actions of players and nations will be written by a select group of people known as Scribes, or Historians. Lore will mostly be presented as “history”, where scribes/historians will recollect events, along with their own interpretation of them. At the endgame, all manuscripts will be compiled into one tome, where all players will be able to read and remember all that they have experienced.

Noble Houses, Orders, and Guilds: side from Kingdoms, you can also formulate your own mini-factions within a Kingdom that will help friends keep close, and offer benefits! Houses of nobility can pose as a significant contender for a throne, Orders can be formulated so as to service specific needs of the Kingdom, and Guilds can reach beyond just one Kingdom.

Risk: While griefing and raiding will be reduced, if not completely absent, you can still die and lose your stuff should raiders cross the border to terrorize the folks. You as a vassal should consider the strength of a Kingdom and its ability to protect you before you join one! As a King, you have the potential of losing your lands, throne, and kingdom! Only the most capable, charismatic, and cunning King can unify all the Kingdoms again as one.

There are of course so many things that I hope players will be able to experience soon! Please note, that this is a completely new endeavor for me, and all of these mechanics have yet to be tested by the people who matter: you!

If you would like to stay in tune with the developmental progress, and are curious to try this out, please consider joining the Discord! We'd love to see you there, and I can answer any questions that you may have! I hope to see some of you there soon ^-^

Normie out!
