Everything is chemical. Simply put, just like with being fat, in low doses very few things are bad for you. When ramping up consumption, everything is bad for you, even water.
What kills smoker's lungs and brings lung cancer is not some nasty chemical present in cigars, cigarets or whatever you like to smoke. Its just smoke. Too much smoke and lungs can't cope with it, get sick, you die slowly etc.
People who smoke weed just as much they smoked cigarets and think their lungs are safe from diseases are idiots. Make barbeque every day and you will get cancer too. It's not just smoke, everything other than air is harmful to our lungs, they cant process other stuff. When you reach threshold amount lungs cannot cope with, it is the start of one of many lung diseases and often ends with nastiest of them all, lung cancer.
