a) -Winner of lower bracket gets third place, finals match is between top 2 upper bracket winners

b) -A Best of 3 of FT7's for the final with the winner of the upper bracket starting with a technical win regardless of whether they have fought their opponent prior to or not (this was decided based off of Tristan's suggestion, but also the notes from Nikkle and Kadeth saying that 3 FT7's would be more stamina than skill. In other words, the Winner of the upper bracket would only have to beat their opponent in ONE FT7, but the lower bracket competitor would have to beat the upper bracket competitor twice).

Option B, that's how double elimination brackets should work.

if we do go with option B me thinks that the ft7s should be held on different days. (unless one the undefeated guy just beats him on the first ft7)

This seemingly makes it harder for the person in the upper bracket to win compared to normal double elimination rules. With regular (FGC) rules, the person on "winners side" of grand finals needs to beat the person coming from "losers side" only once, while the player already in losers needs to beat the other player once to put them into losers and "reset the bracket" and then again to eliminate them from the tournament (since it's double elimination).

With your method the winner would also have to win twice if they haven't already dueled, which puts them on even footing with the player coming from losers. Not to mention the player coming from losers would technically be "triple eliminated."

In Dota 2 the competitors on the "winners side" do not get any extra benefit in the grand finals. The big benefit is having to play far less elimination games if you stay in the upper bracket.

In this tournament you can have a tournament champion that wins 6 duels if he was seeded into the second round and stays winners side. On the other extreme, if a player were to be seeded into the first round and lose, drop to losers bracket, and fight their way back to the grand finals they will have had to win 11 duels, nearly twice as many fights.

Yeah, competing in fewer matches is a nice perk, however I think that a dueling-focused tournament should follow rules more in line with the FGC, since warband duels are almost a fighting game of their own. Also, while most FGC tournaments are completed in only 2-3 days, players going on a long losers run oftentimes build momentum which can help them should they make it to grands where they have to face off against a "cold" player waiting in winners... so playing more matches isn't strictly a bad thing. While momentum is far less impactful in a month-long crpg dueling tourney where you may only have one match per week, playing more matches can at least get you in a better mindset should you suffer from nerves or something.

me and archi never got to fight, archi conceded me the win as he wasn't able to turn up but i said in the case he couldn't make it then i'd concede him the win as he had to work later than he thought. i'm sticking to my word as like i mentioned before i can only attend on friday and saturday, given that i'm unable to follow the quick paced nature of the tourney i hand the victory to Archi so that he may fight on in my stead
