The person going into grand finals from winners side has to win an extra match now, and the person coming from losers gets a freebie if they lose. In other words, there is no benefit to having no dropped sets so long as you make it to grands.

I don't exactly foresee myself being affected by this rule change, but at least for next time you should maintain a consistent ruleset and not go changing it mid-tourney.

The people from the upper bracket with the best chances of winning, IMO, are the ones I talked too.

I've changed plenty of things mid tourney. Having a malleable ruleset and case-by-case judgements by me, who has great judgement and sense of law and goodness, makes everything cater to the contestants. If they can't do their fight on time, disagree with a fight, or whatever, they can talk to me. I'm not gonna quote the rules like a lawyer. And if something seems unfair to me and to others, then I will change the ruleset, this isn't 1984. fuck.

And yes the person from the upper bracket who goes into the finals will have to win an extra match, but they will get freebies too, freebies they did not have otherwise, whereas the lowerbracket winner did get freebies, and will get another.

As I said, and we are starting to go in circles here, the reason for the series of 3 FT7's is to give both fighters a chance to feel the other one out, and adapt, using their skill and knowledge of the game, to prove themself the better duelist. People IN the upper bracket who are likely to see the finals are the ones who talked to me about it. I agreed with what they said, made a compromise, they agreed with the compromise, here we are.

This was done in consideration of the likely possibility that the upper bracket winner could lose to the lower bracket winner and will be eliminated from the tourney without having a second chance, as per current rules, while the loser of the lower bracket did. I don't see the problem with the change, and neither did the several people I talked too.

the old ruleset was pretty retarded. Technically I could 7 0 someone, like meli for example, then he could win the lower bracket and face me in the finals and beat me 7-6 and score above me, even though he obviously shouldn't score above me. I think that if you have not lost yet and you go against someone who has lost its only fair that the person whos undefeated gets some sort of second chance, while the loser gets no second chance. Alternatively the winner of the loser bracket could get third place, while the two contenstants who made it to the finals undefeated get first and second according to who won. The new rule set is more fair but I think we can all agree that three ft7s is sort of aids especially if both people are gonna be tryharding. It becomes more of a stamina thing then actually skill based.

Yeah that's way too many duels, and just rewards the more patient, passive player. Agree that the winner of the loser's bracket should just be considered third place.

If you are caught up in the discussion so far, please chip in to making a decision for the finals:

a) -Winner of lower bracket gets third place, finals match is between top 2 upper bracket winners

b) -A Best of 3 of FT7's for the final with the winner of the upper bracket starting with a technical win regardless of whether they have fought their opponent prior to or not (this was decided based off of Tristan's suggestion, but also the notes from Nikkle and Kadeth saying that 3 FT7's would be more stamina than skill. In other words, the Winner of the upper bracket would only have to beat their opponent in ONE FT7, but the lower bracket competitor would have to beat the upper bracket competitor twice).

having the finals be a best of 3 is better and more interesting also you shouldn't really complain about changing the rules midway through the tournament when the rules don't apply until the finals, which obviously no one has fought in yet
