Mauls are rather ridiculous

We all know a little about history, and the one thing we all know is that mauls were not a weapon of choice.  I've swung a sledge hammer or two in my life and I have found it is tiring.  Yet this beast which can kill you in 2 seconds still exists.  With its crush through and length and lack of fatigue it makes one absurd weapon.  Yet it still blocks as fast as a bamboo stick.  When Armagon developed this game he was aiming for
historical accuracy, but yet this 'weapon' remains the most popular for sieges and pretty much everything else.

But, the maul was a peasant weapon and in reality it should take two seconds to swing or block after the first swing.  Even with high(ish) agi you still got be out of the 45 degree killing zone.  I hate to say it, but I'm calling OP on this one.

It almost makes we want to be an archer.

It took you how many years to figure this all out?

It would be nice if melee weapons had variable block speeds similar to shields.

Not really, the worst part about shields is the varied block speed. If it happens to make a difference and you miss a block due to the delay, it will simply feel laggy.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

I have screenshots of my 18/24 pre-Tydeus shielder somewhere with like 60 arrows suspended in the air outside my shield, and the shield is at full health.

I miss that, but bucklers are still stylish as fuck. Steel buckler, scale mail, morion. Get fucking conquistador'd bitch

Watch out Bryggan, indicating any weapon is op to the Crpg community with facts and evidence automatically results in downvotes.

It's ok, I didn't join C-Rpg to make friends, but to crush my enemies.  Of course, not being a sperg-lord I have no real enemies, tho I'm quite sure I earned the hate of others.  It's okay, its all cool.  But that variable block speed a la shield thing would make a world of difference.

Do people use mauls? I guess theyre probably popular in strategus/siege.. I think they are incredibly fun in native, but ultimately kind of weak outside of their very good niche.

Ahh i remember trying to make agi based mallet builds work, so much potential for gimmickry but ultimately there were too many drawbacks. Boulder on a stick, aka long maul, used to be amazing and hilarious but that dates far back, crushthrough morningstar cav etc.
