Contemplating not installing bootcamp after my hard disk crash, but just running it in virtual enviroment.

Anyone have experience with this? does everything work smoothly? Don't need anything fancy, dx9 and everything to minimum is fine with me.

Let me know if you tried this and if you have a working setup.

Have you tried it in wine?

Seems even the mouse bug got fixed in the latest wine versions:

Should run a lot smoother then in a virtual machine if it works correctly.

Hmm, I run it with Bootcamp and not an emulator, so I am unfortunately rather lost when it comes to using alternatives. I wish I could help more.  :(

Might I ask how exactly your Bootcamp crashed with your disk? Did you run it as a FAT file so 32 gigs or less, or was it the larger version (NTS or whatever it is)? Mine is currently only using 100GB (so the larger format), and I am wondering if the smaller format is unstable (since using the smaller format means the mac can talk to the pc and vice versa, while the larger format only the mac can transfer to the PC, and the PC side can not access the mac)?

this is a couple of years old mbp intel.. should be possible.

I had bootcamp, and I'm not sure exactly how i crashed the disk.. but something happened when i tried to use deamon tools to mount an image file residing on my mac partition (access through macdrive).. (I know.. bit experimental and risky..)

Anyway, Instead of trying to fix it, I decided to rescue what i could and do a complete reinstall of the machine.

Got parallels up, and looks impressive, but havent tested warband yet. I'll let you know when i'll be able to test it tomorrow.

cheers!

I have an Intel MacBook Pro 15 inches and am currently playing it on Crossover Games through Steam.
The game works nearly perfect, there is a problem with the mouse but can be solved (I just googled it and found an easy solution I dont remember right now). About crashes, sometimes when I have just connected if I press TAB right after joining a server it crashes but nothing serious, so I am enjoying it quite a lot.

Im running a 2008 MBP using bootcamp with w7. Works beautifully for me. I prefer not to run games in parallel on vmware just because of system uses. Especially online game, i like my game to be ther only (main) program running on my machine for best performance

Parallels was not a good idea.

Game runs perfectly, with not terrible fps, but there is a strange lag in mp. Networking doesnt seem so smooth. People are warping a lot.

Anyway.. giving crossover a try. If that doesnt work well, ill be back to bootcamp.

Cheers!
