Well sure, theres still going to be differences. But part of the multi cultural push is to attempt to kill our current culture and replace it. You can make new history, but intentionally trying to remove the past aint cool. Forcefully trying to change society so drastically isnt very appealing to me at least.

Didn't notice you gave rats ass about replacement of culture and Americanization/Globalization in third world countries during past half a century. It only became an issue when they migrated to your country and stole your jobs. It's fine they lose their ways through cultural brainwashing delivered by the media with global reach, that didn't bother you one bit. But as soon you personally have felt it, it became grave issue and something that must be stopped at all cost.

As always, nationalist being biggest hypocrites. Some things never change.

Edit: I've said it before and I'll say it again. Out of all people you Scandinavians should be the last to cry now because you've already gave on your culture and fully embraced American culture. Only things you have left is your language and modesty which is something harsh nature taught you long ago and something won't be erased for a very long time. You use American language just as much you use your native language, you play their games, you eat their food, you wear their clothes. But my Scandinavian brands! There is no such things anymore, every big brand/corporation is global, multinational, multicultural aka American. United States is a country with fixed borders but America is not just the continent. It is term used to describe global way of life and everything that has to do with it, doesn't matter where you live. You either embrace it and go with the flow or try to fight it which result in leaving you behind. You can't cry about immigrants and still follow American way. You have immigrants because it is the American way.

My country is on the same path and many other developing countries of the so called third world. Do you know what characterizes third world? Level of americanization those countries went through. The more american they are, the more English they use in their everyday lives, liberal capitalism being widespread, ruthless laws that go against poor, that is how measure how much American your country is or in other words how "developed" it is.

Some of you either pretend or you truly live in a bubble, trying to hold on some values that are being erased with every passing day. No wonder you do it here because there is no consequences of such actions. But doubt you'd write any of this if there were possible consequences.

I'm not going to ask you to develop what you think is the multi cultural push... May I simply suggest that the "current culture" you speak of is the result of the culture of 20 years ago being "replaced" by what we have now?  And so on and so on?

If we simplify cultures to the extreme like it is done in this thread so much, and use only the immigration rate as the sole cultural divergence/convergence factor, I doubt you ignore the fact that there all Europe had extreme demographic changes in the second half of the 20th century. Basically, a guy living in 1980 would say that the culture you try to defend today is already a farce.

You are right in that it has started early, at least in scandinavia. The consequences of us striving to become super individualistic has had a great impact even before the multi culuturalism. Which in part leads to people looking to other cultures to find that again stability again, but when the government brings in a completely unstable amount of people with radically different cultures and media says that its all working out fine when its clearly not. Then its a bit more worrisome.

I will however also mention we are in sweden currently (finally) realising this through the effort of a lot of opposition to the multi cultural push saying that ITS NOT working out. Ive noticed media being more honest about our issues with the current integration, and how we have failed in our goals. Multi culture didnt work, we needed to be firmer on integrating the people to become swedes. Even political parties seem to struggle and possibly even splitting because of a divide in opinions now.

Some people joke that Sweden being a failure now, but we are improving and i think we can recover well. Things seem far worse in the UK, when wrong thinkers cant even get entry to the country.

No i didnt because ive been a fucking kid playing pokemon all day when these things happened. I dont give much of a shit about whats happening to third world countries, im more worried about my own country joining them in that title.

Besides, capitalism is generally fruitful towards the economies, and improve living standards broadly. It seems like natural progression now because it is the quickest way to gain wealth in general. Hardly comparable to the migration politics with no yield only so many unexpected issues.

I didn't talk about liberal capitalism while I was living in communist country, neither should you. But now I live in late 19th, early 20th century liberal capitalism where you have to pay for everything, you can lose your job any day and there is virtually no support for working people, capitalists can do whatever they please. Last thing I want to hear is some Swede talking about capitalism while his country donates him money so he can play video games all day.

I know well what capitalism is good, which is why I'm starting my own company soon cuz I'm tired working for others. There is still window for success because it isn't like in more developed economies where big players don't allow small fries to rise.

I have personally had very little use of the socialist benefits of this country so far, if any outside of the very mediocre school i went to, now i simply pay away like half my wages in taxes instead. Not saying i dont approve of them, im not sure yet what i think of the economic systems. But capitalism does bring people out of poverty more than creating it. My friend has been coddled so hard by all the socialist benefits he gets from a diagnose he has, to the point where he seems to be unable to push himself into working again. Now he just gets anti depressants and other medicines, being completely dependent on the state. Theres good and bad on each side.

I can write couple books about depression but the ultimate truth is, even the most depressive person who fell into abyss of apathy and despair can move mountains if he wants to. Difference between deeply depressive and happy people is, despressive people don't feel emotions most of the time but they can still make strides forward and be successful. Some are very good at hiding that and push themselves too much to hide it, so you sometimes can't tell who is depressive. Take late Robin Williams for example, he was extremely successful actor who never gave away his sadness but deep down he fell into abyss so deep he killed himself in the end. You can be successful while being depressive but you'll act like a robot most of the time, regaining control over your emotions is very hard task and thus keeping relationships becomes increasingly difficult under those circumstances.

I'm mostly depressive but I fight it but not thinking about it or about big ideas, just push forward with small tasks and you'll be golden. Problems depressive people may face are hurdles on their journey through life, the more depressive you have the bigger chance you'll break apart trying to overcome certain difficulty that pops up on your path. Healthy people are dealing better with difficulties while mentally fragile aka depressive people can be pushed backwards by it. Which is why it is important to be nice to people and enable them to do great things and not be pricks like Oberyn.

We're all more or less depressive deep down but people who need medicine to deal with it are called junkies. At 13 years old first though of killing myself came to me, naturally I'm a dreamer (sign: pisces) which means that puberty left me with many questions and doubts that led me into severe depression. Suicidal thoughts never materialized but lasted through adolescence. After having near death experience I will never again thinking about suicide, because having suicide is the most stupid thing a human can do in their life no matter the circumstances. There is no afterlife thus living is the only thing we have, if you take that away from yourself you've got nothing. Even tiny portion of life under heaviest possible pain is better than nothing. There is no heaven that awaits martyrs and those who went through hardships. For similar reasons it is remarkably stupid conscripting into army and fighting for your country in wars, because you risk your life for practically nothing in return. Same people who believe in afterlife are willingly putting their life on the line for somebody else and going to war.

Major problem with issues we face in life is that society won't help you, sometimes they try but do it the wrong way, most of the time they just exploit you. Big reason for depression is shit we consume on daily basis and society is doing nothing to change that. When you're depressive you eat shit, get fat and as result become more depressive and helpless. That is an extremely vicious circle supported by extremely vicious people who were probably depressive themselves but ignored it and focused on work, attained important roles in society but in the mean time turned into sociopaths.

Edit: In case you haven't noticed I'm exceptionally mean when I'm feeling depressed. It comes out strong and doesn't last long. Few ways to went it, I prefer online and not to bother people close to me. They call that bipolar disorder but I don't have many highs and those highs are mild. As of lately I'm mean a lot less frequently because I'm mostly dealing with depression. Bipolar disorder like many mental disorders aren't very well defined because they greatly differ from individual to individual yet they prescript same quantities of brute force drugs to everybody. Mental disorders are so complex psychologists are mostly acting like medieval butchers operating on vital tissue.

You can easily see who of us gotten better over time and who got worse. Those who got significantly worse still deny their depression and mental issues. Is there an other way to explain obsessive behavior and general hostileness towards others most of the time than psychological issues? I don't deny I have issues but they do. It will bite them in the end.
