In the case of Hollywood the jews that run most of the major media companies today have fought a culture war with WASP culture since the 30s, as they have in the universities, finance and the federal court system, especially from the 60s and onwards.
Virtue signalling is part of the business model, but Hollywood and the tech and media industry is notoriously leftist, and the BBC which produces the series in question is a public service provider that makes and has always made ideological broadcasting and has an extensive so-called 'diversity and inclusion strategy' (http://www.bbc.co.uk/mediacentre/latestnews/2016/diversity) so economical reasons do not stand alone.
Jews haven't been bitten by Christianity virus which makes sure sheeple adheres to certain principles which makes them easily exploitable by elites and are kept docile without much effort. That means a Jew will always take the opportunity to prosper if it presents to him and will have no moral doubts about it.
But what if Jews are the ones being played and not the ones holding the strings?
They were given freedom to do as they please in Europe but when chocolate chip cookies came to power all their wealth and influence wasn't enough to save them from horrible things that happened to them. The best they could do is to escape somehow to countries that didn't follow chocolate chip cookie example, like United States.

Let them take their opportunity, gather wealth, seemingly get in control. This time not just in Europe but with global reach via globalization. Then when members of other nations get fed by it, sell them same story German people were sold on in the 30s. Tell them it's all fault of the Jews, that they are rotten appendix on the human population organism (something along those lines said one of the Auschwitz doctors before they hanged him). Then when pot reaches melting stage and when there is no more place for Jews to escape, because entire world has the playground this time, then restart the old Final Solution. This time with 99% chance of complete success.
If you believe in Jewish global hegemony, secret Jewish cults controlling the world then it isn't too far fetched to imagine there could be another layer on top or bellow that, like in an onion. Layer that aren't Jews, but those who wish to get rid of them once and for all.
Edit: Germans and other Germanic countries turning Holocaust into taboo topic, which is kinda like religious dogma not to be discussed, not to question, but unlike dogma to be swept under the rug and forgotten, that didn't help at all.
