Some of the things Ulfur has been actively doing are generally not expected from someone with a power of overseeing a community and enforcing the rules, making it completely unacceptable, while other things on the list come straight from the Official Server Rules thread, which is, frankly, even more disturbing and hypocritical, since he later bans players for exactly the same rule breaking.
I literally have 2 bans on my record in the entire time of me being an admin, and non of them were hypocritical bans.
- Actively leeching on DTV (one of the general rules is No leeching). Sometimes while there are 31 out of 30 players on the server, which means that Ulfur must have abused his power just to gain access to his XP farm. I can't vouch for that, but from what I've heard, Ulfur was even kicked by other admins for leeching at some point.
I haven't been leeching since I got Admin, I've been kicked once as there was someone at the door. I know that isn't a good excuse to go afk for 2 rounds, but I've let people go for longer before warning them and kicking them for leeching so please. There's a meme about me leeching, but that's nothing more than a meme, unless you take it as the truth ofcourse. And yes there's times I have 0 kills, that's cause I'm an xbow and not too good at it, but being bad =/= leeching.
- Using pink admin chat for chatter or something that has nothing to do with enforcing the rules or other actions related to adminship. I personally don't care that much about it because I usually just skip a message if I see "Ulfur" at the beginning of a line, but doing so is still an abuse of power, since it's implied that pink chat is for important messages only.
I do admit that I somtimes use Purple chat for not critical or admin related things, and I appriciate you saying it so I can work on it and prevent this from happening in the future. I am, after all, a trial admin, so I'm learning , trial and error is part of that
And you can always ignore them, that doesn't mean you won't be punished if it applies to you. ;)
- Enforcing/not enforcing rules that were previously established by other admins and came directly from head adminship. One of the more public issues occurred during a strat battle where Ulfur claimed that leeching is allowed with commander's permission, even though all other admins present on the server were correcting him. Made the whole situation quite confusing, and while it's understandable that he could have just missed a message about this specific thing, seeing people with authority fight each other over a rule enforcement could easily make players respect them less.
This is from a while ago, it was when Uthyr first introduced that leeching wasn't allowed in strat battles, but I had missed this message. Kratos told me about it after enforcing it but I was confused. Later it was clear that Uthyr had indeed said this and that Kratos was right in acting like he did. I've since not allowed anyone to leech in strat battles and am sure to stay up-to-date with server rules and changes.
Always nice when people take one mistake you make and see it as something so completely vital.
Another issue of a similar topic took place in a smaller battle where defenders didn't have equipment. As it was decided and conveyed by other admins in the past, "it's attackers' responsibility to kill all the defenders". Ignoring that statement, Ulfur encouraged his team mates to kick me while I was trying to go to their flags from behind the hills (where archers can't see me), probably not to get his own hands dirty.
Excuse you? Where did you see me seriously encourage people to kick you? I have never told anyone to actively kick someone. Though I can't blame them as you were running away behind the hills and doing nothing more. I'm certainly not scared to get my own hands dirty when people break rules but if you say that I told people to kick you so I wouldn't have to do it / deal with it, you're completely wrong.
While other admins are trying their best at keeping the mod alive, Ulfur makes playing experience only worse by leeching, abusing his power, and making players feel threatened due to his unstable actions. Who knows if next time a new player spawns with just stones he won't count it as spawning without a "real" weapon and bans him for a week.
I will tell you that this is pretty harsh to say, especially as I was one of the first people to come back and help with reviving this mod. I'm always actively looking to get more people to play the mod and try make it a fun experience for everyone. I've never banned anyone just out of random actions, I don't leech anymore (since getting admin) and I don't abuse my powers, if anything most people that I've been rather nice to would've been kicked or banned if other admins saw what they are doing. If you fancy spreading lies then go do it in some bullshit part of the forums but get off my back.
I'm pretty sure I've never banned anyone without reason, and I certainly don't make the experience worse for people. I'll always give people a fair warning, then a kick and then a ban if it's needed.
You're saying I'd randomly ban someone for something like spawning with stones as I wouldn't count it as a real weapon? Really? That's just saying I'm some banmongerer, I'm sure everyone is trembling in fear next time I give out instant-warnings when people break the rules, but I wouldn't ban someone for no reason.
it leaves a stain on the whole staff of the mod by having such individual among them.
I'm pretty sure the only people that think so badly about me are the ones breaking rules and those that get punished for doing so by me.
I would like ask to give someone else a chance and replace Ulfur as an admin. Otherwise, the condition of the mod might get even worse by letting Ulfur hold the steering wheel any longer. Even if finding a replacement will take some time, I personally find other admins that are currently active like Cassi, Tamra, and others to be doing a pretty good job
I'm sorry, I didn't know we had a limited number of slots for admins, oh wait, we don't. Surely we have enough slots to fit in your amazing suggested admins. And it's quite good that you think veteran Admins are doing a good job, am I not a Trial admin for a reason? And I'm pretty sure I'm not making the condition of the mod any worse, if anything, I'm making it better by trying to lighten the mood and make sure we're all having fun.
Small edit: After making a post, many players on Discord raised a concern that they don't see Ulfur much in the game. Some even claimed they don't know who that is or that they didn't know he has admin rights (though it could be trolling). He also doesn't seem to be on forums much, judging by his 16 hours online time, which makes me wonder what exactly is he doing as an admin other than creating issues when he actually is present.
It's very nice of you to do such a little edit, and I'm sure that with all these new people we're bringing in some don't know who I am, others are just memeing. I'd also like to inform you that some people have jobs and a study to do. I've got 2 weeks of Tests behind me and I had to study for those and fully commit to them. I also have a job on the side so I'm not able to always play. I'm rather sure that most people that play cRPG know me or have heard about me, apart from those 3 people who responded to you in Discord.
I'll be sure to take whatever I find constructive in this essay you wrote and actively work on improving. I'm still learning after all, and everyday is a school day.
