Divinity Original Sin 2

Releases in six days. Can't fucking wait.

Played the Early Access, and already it's one of the best RPGs I've ever played, despite lacking many features. I fully expect it to make my top 3 games of all time list with the full release. Get it, my old friends.

Fucking awesome game. Buy it and support the devs, they didn't even put DRM on it.

Seems interesting from the videos. Last game I played of this genre was the original Baldurs Gate, or was it Icewind Dale? Can't recall. Does this play similar and does it have emphasys on story as well, or is it more about combat?

It plays kind of similarly, except it's more open and there are a ton of ways to resolve almost every quest. Combat is also 100000 times better than those games. You can resolve most quests without fighting if you want, too.

It's a hard game though and does 0 hand holding. Which is great.

DOS 2 is what sequels should be like, it does everything a LOT better than DOS 1.

Singleplayer, with a coop campaign on the side. I think everyone should do SP first/as their main playthrough, just because you get to explore and read at your own pace.

I've got about 50 hours played, Early Access included. Always end up playing way longer than I intended, game is addictive as fuck. And I can't wait to do another playthrough after I finish this one, because there are just so many different options and party members (I'm doing Lone Wolf with just Ifan as a companion, so tons of different companion stories to see.)

Probably the best RPG I've ever played. Just what you'd have wanted from a BG 2 spiritual successor.

Yeah this game is really good, I'll probably buy it after I'm done with my first playthrough, played for around 20 hrs, still at the fort, probably got around 5 - 10 hrs left there alone.

In my current playthrough I spent about 8 hours at the fort. I've got 35 hours played on that save, and still at least 6+ hours to go. So if you keep playing at that pace you'll probably reach 100 hours or so easy.

My first Act 1 playthrough in EA was 13 hours by contrast, in part because I spent 1 hour 40 minutes on one fight...

Which I like, the fights can be really, really hard -- but what's so awesome about the combat is that you can do things in so many goddamn different ways that it's almost never a case of "welp this is just 100% impossible for my character/party" like it is in most RPGs, but rather just a case of trying different tactics.

Honestly was skeptic to turn based combat as I've never really enjoyed it, but in this game it's very enjoyable, fights you lose can be easily won the next re-load because you decided to use a combo or the environment more to your advantage and there's so much different shit you can do in it.

Yeah this is the cool thing about this game. Some fights I think "how the fuck am I going to win this" when I first get beaten, then another try or two or three and I manage to somehow pull it off. The freedom you have in the game and the things you can interact with are great. But holy shit is it time consuming 8-)
