Could be a long wait. On top of waiting for release and people to mod in some kind of strategus I would rather play something than nothing.
I'll still try it out, but i highly doubt it'll actually grow back into a decent playerbase. Strat with less than hundred players sounds absolutely boring, no matter how good the mode is. Don't get me wrong, i really want to see okam succeed again, it's just not something i see happening. At least with Bonerlord it'll automatically bring a huge playerbase in there. Plus, even the normal non-persistent MP will do for quite a while.
