I wish strat battles were fun that way i couldve gotten invested in the mode, but i dont think ive ever been more bored in a game than the times i spent in a slow ass strat battle.

Imo strat battles aren't fun if you're there for the xp. When you're involved in the drama though, it's fun as it gets with this mod. Cuz unlike the regular servers, winning and loosing means more than multiplier.

I thought sieges were like that myself, but I found field battles to be greatly enjoyable. Battle lines forming, people making towers out of ladders, sneaking around to hit the forward spawn, organized charges. I thought the give and take in those was much more interesting, but in the later Strats it seemed like people just hunkered down in their castles and towns.

Field battles were definitely the better of the two types, however even then more often than not the defenders were too heavily advantaged. The maps oftentimes only accentuated the fact that having ladder towers for archers provides a huge advantage, especially when the attackers have to climb a steep hill, cross a river, or both just to get to the defenders' spawn. Once defenders realized that the optimal strat was to just find a hill close to their flags and camp there, fun field battles died.

When strat comes back up before it is reset we will have some epic XP battles with the millions worth of gear we've saved up. Then when its reset well have some good drama infused battles again I'm sure!

I always loved defensive sieges and field battles. Assaulting a castle could get pretty tedious pretty fast though.

one of my favourite battles was where both sides were naked and had no weapons, but our side had a bunch or rounceys

we bumped them to death and they tried to either punch our horses to death or steal some and bump us. That was a brainless, yet fun battle. We won ofc

One of my first strat battles was a field battle with a small creek in between the armies, our side set up defensive siege shields while they peppered us with arrows and pushed a shield wall every time there was an organized crossing... it was amazing.

 There was a crossing on the far side of the map so the agi whores were harassing the defenders flanks the whole time trying to draw enough attention to get an effective amount of troops across.  I forgot who won but I would play strat a hundred times to get a battle like that again, long live the gods of video game war.

My favourite strat battles were the ones where I was the only defender in a 30v1. Being able to shit talk an entire enemy army while they were waiting to spawn and unable to respond was EPIC

One time I was that 1 guy who happened to be awake at 3am and defended just for the luls. We had no gear and they had 15 guys in plate. Of course I signed up with a pseudonym so they wouldn't know my true sperginess. I just ran around the map spamming "NEVER GIVE UP, NEVER SURRENDER!" and some stock warband voice lines like "I'LL DRINK FROM YOUR SKULL(S)!" while waiting for them to spawn. Then the innevitable tidal wave descended upon me and my spawn... I was able to take down two with my practice 2h sword, but the damn pansies capped my flags before I got a second shot at em. They didn't even come at me 1v1, the bastards!

I believe Dupre had an idea for what might be causing that flag bug. Something Tydeus did iirc. Hopefully we can get that fixed when super Dupre returns.
