Yeah basically Tasmania is a great place to see, especially if you're into a bit of bush walking and hiking; there's a huge amount of untouched remote wilderness with amazing scenery. It always surprises me when people outside of Tas are aware of its existence, considering how it's missing on a lot of maps of Aus, and even many "mainland" Australians forget it exists

I'd like to hit up NA either later this year or early next year, but it's hard to know where to start, so many dank looking places. Perhaps the travel bug is a real thing, having been to yurop, SEA and NZ in the last couple years, I'm keen to see more. Only thing that puts me off is it's fucking expensive to travel anywhere from such a remote place.

The whole snake and spider thing is really exaggerated overseas, no spider deaths since the 70's, and snakes don't attack unless agitated, which I'd imagine is hard to achieve, they always run off whenever I happen to encounter one. Sharks and jellyfish aren't an issue if you swim between the flags, beaches are heavily monitored. I do a fair bit of bush walking and always feel safe, don't you guys get eaten by bears when you go hiking?

The National Park Rangers are advising hikers in Glacier National Park and other Rocky Mountain parks to be alert for bears and take extra precautions to avoid an encounter.
They advise park visitors to wear little bells on their clothes so they make noise when hiking. The bell noise allows bears to hear them coming from a distance and not be startled by a hiker accidentally sneaking up on them. This might cause a bear to charge.
Visitors should also carry a pepper spray can just in case a bear is encountered. Spraying the pepper into the air will irritate the bear's sensitive nose and it will run away.
It is also a good idea to keep an eye out for fresh bear scat so you have an idea if bears are in the area. People should be able to recognize the difference between black bear and grizzly bear scat.
Black bear droppings are smaller and often contain berries, leaves, and possibly bits of fur. Grizzly bear droppings tend to contain small bells and smell of pepper.
