Reworking the xp system would definitely be ideal. Not sure how difficult it would be, but making it so that your xp wasn't based on proximity to damage dealt, but instead based on the damage you deal would be best. Make it so that everyone gets a flat rate x1 multi or something, and then each tick is multiplied by some coefficient related to the amount of enemy hp you've taken during the past minute. A small bonus could be applied for getting the kill on someone, since let's face it, the last hit on someone is by far the most important. This also wouldn't screw over archers so long as they're hitting their targets. It might make things more difficult for a noob, but they're guaranteed their x1, and it'd be another sign of progress for their improvement "wow I got 10k xp that last tick, I'm on a roll! I used to only get 2k at best!" To help them out gen 1 characters (or maybe any low gen character, say gen <5) could have a default of an x3 each tick to compensate for their assumed lack of skill/looms, up until retirement level. This would also encourage tryhard players to use low level alts to grind looms if they so desired.
