Tonight I need to get a really good shower to get this weird feeling of my skin now but I partly agree with Oberyn... on the xp system changes.

The proximity one was funnier and more enjoyable. XP Barn anyone?
I remember that it was actually much fun to try to get in the middle of the fight as retired peasant to hopefully die in the spot where most of the action happened. Side effect was less scattering on the battlefield. Though there has to be some solution for ranged characters... (*need a hard scrub now too*)

A wipe seems only agreeable with some compensation in LP afterwards. Re-grinding the favourite gear is something I do not see happening for old players. We've grown old and priorities are different now. There is just less time to play and that has to be compensated. I think something like 9LP per account for free should be fine.

Splitting the very low player count in any way seems very counter productive to me at this point.
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

Where would new players come from if the game was wiped? I do not understand this line of thinking.

Where would new players come from if the game was wiped? I do not understand this line of thinking.

My reasoning is that the people still playing would immediately make new characters and continue to do so (this is an assumption, I haven't kept playing so can't know, but it seems right), that new players would be completely evened out in terms of progress if not skill, making it a more fun and engaging experience and thus higher newbie retention rate, that it could also bring other old players out of retirement, if only for the hugely fun period of cRPG that are peasant wars. It's not like this would be the first time cRPG got wiped. Have a "cRPG is officially dead" event before wiping as advertisement or something, try to spread it around to old players if you still have steam contacts or play other games together or they were RL friends in the first place.

I think the trickle of new players is far too small to sustain the game by itself and I think the majority of the community that is still playing would not want to play the game with a complete wipe. I know personally that the game does not have enough pull to keep me playing if my entire clans progress was to be reset after years of working to build an armoury. None of us have the time or commitment to do it again.

Also I personally think the same new players that are quitting because they are getting shit on with looms will still quit when they get shit on by a veteran without looms.

Short of some viral campaign to market the game to new players I do not see a wipe helping the server populations at all where I do see a wipe potentially ending the game permanently.

Looms don't mean shit, it's the skill difference that repels new players. Someone with access to the patcher could sneak a poll in, so that when someone uninstalls cRPG, an internet poll pops out, asking them why did they not like the mod. Many f2p games like WoT have this annoying feature, but it seems to work. Or make a poll on the forum that only new players can answer to. Or make the poll pop out when a player launches cRPG and a week has passed from the installation. Or polls for new players in c-rpg.net.

Can't really fix anything without feedback or knowing what exactly is wrong with it.

Exit poll is not a bad idea.

I think more than anything else getting new players to start at lvl 34 so they can have some half decent complete build would be best. Start them off automatically wearing the +3 coloured mail that they are automatically given.

Perhaps also include a set of loomed archery/xbow equipment. Or a free heirloom exchange to change one of their unused looms into something they will use.

Reworking the xp system would definitely be ideal. Not sure how difficult it would be, but making it so that your xp wasn't based on proximity to damage dealt, but instead based on the damage you deal would be best. Make it so that everyone gets a flat rate x1 multi or something, and then each tick is multiplied by some coefficient related to the amount of enemy hp you've taken during the past minute. A small bonus could be applied for getting the kill on someone, since let's face it, the last hit on someone is by far the most important. This also wouldn't screw over archers so long as they're hitting their targets. It might make things more difficult for a noob, but they're guaranteed their x1, and it'd be another sign of progress for their improvement "wow I got 10k xp that last tick, I'm on a roll! I used to only get 2k at best!" To help them out gen 1 characters (or maybe any low gen character, say gen <5) could have a default of an x3 each tick to compensate for their assumed lack of skill/looms, up until retirement level. This would also encourage tryhard players to use low level alts to grind looms if they so desired.

I agree about making it easier on lower gen characters. I think that could be a good incentive for new players.

I think that most people who start Warband/C-RPG for the first time, get beaten badly and aren't willing to patiently learn how to play this game, think that everyone who is playing is goddamn cheater scum.

Warband is way harder to grasp than Dark Souls, yet majority of gaming population hear good things about Souls games but give up after they try them. Let's face it, majority of the people breathing air are goddamn idiots unwilling to learn and better themselves in any way, especially not when "having fun, playing video games".

^I second this. When OKAM released, cRPG died. And cRPG will eventually die, again. And honestly, it dies with every new highly anticipated game.

cRPG is equivalent to our back-up girlfriend - she's an overall good girl, but damn there's a sea of sexy ladies out there we'd rather be chasing after.

No, it's like a dead girlfriend. Playing with her is like playing alone, but you can invite friends over and then it's more fun.
