Ye exactly Leshma, once again you said something very true.

Norbert Hofer comes from an extreme fencing fraternity, he is icecold and should be considered as really dangerous.

I am 99% sure he doesnt accept the independence of Austria from Germany (after WW2). Officially he does, he has to obviously, but he is so hardcore that even FPÖ (right wing party austria) chef H.C Strache didnt want him as a presidental candidate at the beginning, and that means A LOT.

Where I come from people say: "cmon look at his smile, he is a good guy, he is such a friendly person"

But again, they did proof me right with fileing an appeal on the indeed very close presidental election.
They will try everything to get more and more power, they didnt accept their defeat AGAIN.

He is dangerous for us because other than a few other european countries FPÖ is a bunch of uneducated fucks who make mistakes over and over, they make random suggestions for the parliamanet without even doing basic maths and in the end ALWAYS blame the others.

This is super important because Austria currently, as you see in the poll, is basically split in 50% "lefties" and 50% "rightos" (daring generalization tho)

Both Alexander van der Bellen and Norbert Hofer are pretty extreme in their political position.
So if Norbert Hofer now wins the 2nd elections which has been caused because they cried so much about some alleged injustice: inb4 Austria civil war.
Because people like me and basically 50% of austria wont accept this behavior again, they always try to bypass laws, they are the cancer of our country, they do nothing usefull, they have no solid party manifesto, neochocolate chip cookie signs can be found all over their public appearance, every month some new bullshit in the news. 90% of their public activity is about blaming all the others, blame the left parties, blame the EU, blame the refugees, blame the bad economy. They behave like backstabbing trolls in games.

To make this clear, they are still much more moderate than most other right winged parties in europe, but in germany and austria this kind of political attitude is still a disquieting talking point.

And with Hofer as president we are much further than germany already, again lel

edit 1: So to clarify this: The problem (for me at least) isnt really Hofer himself. Its the behavior of the whole party over and over. Its like the asshole from middle class who was stupid as fuck, tried to copy your homework everyday and in the end beat everyone up in the breaks and then told the teachers the others started and became the poor bullied one teachers had to cover. Sounds like a stereotype ye, but its fucking reality in austria.

edit 2: News just said, Austrias decition has been internationally ciritized. Never before elections had to be repeated for the whole country in the history of europe.
+ until the date of the 2nd elections, Presidental duties will be handeled by the 3 heads of the National Council:
1: Doris Bures (SPÖ)
2: Karlheinz Kopf (ÖVP)
3: Norbert Hofer (FPÖ)

This basically sums up what type of human Hofer is

Maybe if Coronoa virus gets rid of 50 percent or more of the world population we can do without a pope and religion.

Cassi I doubt Hofer will win this time, wouldn't make sense IMO. There are still many people who didn't really give a shit about the election and most people who gave a shit voted for Hofer because they think he will change everything to the better - which he will not. But there are also many people in Austria who are pissed off by the whole situation who sympathized with van der Bellen but didn't give him their vote. This is going to change in the favor of van der Bellen in the next election, so I wouldn't care so much about the new election, lol.

Simply put: most people sympathize with van der bellen but didn't get their ass up and were ashamed that hofer almost got over 50%, so this time they will hopefully get their ass up and vote against hofer.

Well, here in Serbia uneducated clown who worked as gravedigger and manager of graveyard for most of his life became president because of apathetic middle class youth who treated elections like a joke. His win opened door for forces of evil to get in power. Till this day we can't get rid of them, because their voters seem to be increasing in numbers while decent people choose to leave the country.

However, that could change because it seems this right wing virus is global and when people who went abroad start facing discomfort due to racism from right wing supporters and see that grass isn't greener, they may come back and help fix this shithole. At least I hope so.

One thing is certain, I'm glad not to be born black, brown or gay. When these guys get in saddle all over the Europe being minority will truly suck, like it was just 100 years ago.

Oh yeah, in case rise of right wing produces another world war I won't be participating as a soldier. Will rather blow a hole in chest of mobilizing squad and every Oberyn like creature I stumble upon irl. Time to get that sawed off shotgun I always wanted but didn't see need for it. Till now.

News just said, Austrias decition has been internationally ciritized. Never before elections had to be repeated for the whole country in the history of europe.

From what I've read, the left won by 30K votes but there was 70K irregular votes. So except if the organisation which detected those irregularities and the austrian high court are puppets of the far right, I believe its fair.

The Constitutional court is actually widely regarded as a truly professional and neutral institution in austria without political bias. Which this result has shown once again, because no one except the right wing actually wanted another election.

The votes were not irregular - roughly 3 dozen bureaucrats went the lazy way, as they did for many years apparently. They ignored the protocol for counting the votes, and just did it, as is common in austria, in whatever way they thought worked without too much effort.

The right wing party knew this in advance, they had the document prepared for a case where they are a close 2nd, and immediately player their ace card to get a free revote.

I understand why it's legally necessary, but everyone, including the right wing party, confirm that there was no manipulation whatsoever and that the count of the votes is correct. Yet there has to be another vote. Because lawyers.

Well CIA had bunch of former nazi's working for them in WWII aftermath, so what? Difference is that right wing has people support to do whatever the fuck they want while the likes of Waldheim were former nazi in hiding, who pretended to be and actually followed politics of those who won WWII. Big fucking difference.

Those unwashed villagers with crooked teeth who live in the mountains of every country are pretty much 90% nationalists who would hang a nigga and stone a bundle of sticks given chance to do so. But they can't because their kind isn't in power. However, when their party gets elected they get some freedom to spit in people's faces, calling them outsiders who need to get the fuck out of their country. It gets even worse during the war when they come down, in groups with guns and pillage homes of middle class people. Every fucking war...

As proper middle class communist who understands how brain of low class right winger works, I do not rendezvous with such individuals during crisis. Sure, now it's cool to have chat with Oberyn and co but if there was a war going on, only guns would talk.

Do you have any idea why support for right wing party is huge in Austria? I haven't noticed anything unusual in Vienna. It is very cool city where everybody mind their own business, bunch of people from different cultures doing their thing on streets at night. Not a single incident.

How come dude who believes in chem trails conspiracy get so many votes if everything is seemingly next gen? Can't you people at least show your displeasure at least a little bit so rest of the world knows what is going on in your heads or will it always seem that everything is fine then bam, Hitler...

It's very similar to the brexit voters:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login

The cities voting left of the middle, the countryside voting right of the middle. There seems to be a new kind of separation happening in Europe, urban vs rural. The irony is that those who are most scared of immigration are those that have not seen any of it.

I've read somewhere that people on the countryside earn less and less, leading to populism being a lot more effective there. That would make sense in my opinion, a large city is just much better suited to deal with the economical changes that globalization brings.

People think that things changed to the worse and that they can revert that by running a "shut the borders" policy. They fail to understand that those changes are global and cannot be turned back, like it or not.

That's silly.  Globalization and it's effects stem mostly from human policy.  The technologies that make it possible are just enablers, not the causation.  Any policy can obviously be changed.  I'm not saying whether it is intelligent or right or wrong to do so but it could be done quite readily.

I don't think it's so much that globalization cannot be hampered, but that to do so would cause great harm to all the involved parties (which is great because it's globalization so everyone is an involved party).

No force has done more for world peace or increased prosperity in the last half century than global economic integration.

Hey hey, ho ho, your tariffs have got to go.

Maybe you are not bad, but you are a boring person. Well, that's the end of the matter.

Going against globalization means global war, there is no way around it. Look at Ukraine. Their nationalists wanted their country without Russian influence. Expected to have it as a whole. What happened? What always happens, it kept dividing. Many interest groups popped up, local landlords became warlords. Each wanted his own land to be "independent". That is why it is impossible to peacefully turn your back to globalization.

Egypt, Iraq, Libya. All fine examples. Their goals was to be free from dictators but only thing they ended with was utter chaos where every tribe called for their state and fought for power over others. Similar thing happened in early days of Soviet Union, that is how Stalin assumed full power. He dealt with those local landlords who wanted to rule their own land. No one opposed him ever again.

Don't think that your country is immune to this. There is already split in Britain, remainers are protesting against Brexit and they don't trust people who voted for Brexit anymore. Tensions are there.

We have UN, NATO, globalization for a reason...

Globalization and competition probably hits farmers the most, even though they are probably the one class receiving the most subsidies of any. Perhaps it's as simple as becoming a farmer nowadays actually requires entrepreneurship, because of international competition, and "doing it the old way" just won't cut it. Also, too much regulation and framework might make it hard to think different from the next farmer.. I have to mention that the Austrian countryside is the most conformist place I've seen in my life! In the countryside, those farmers ARE a huge part of the primary industries, thus outside big cities there is decline and a hardening of life.

They are also not exposed to the energy and tempo a big city demands, so they have probably no idea why their boat is sinking. Probably the EU and immigrants!
