I am going with David Gilmour by far on this. Pink Floyd has been my favorite group for years now and they still lead by far.
He's my personal #1, he might not be the best technician nor is he the fastest player, but the typical Gilmour sound and Pink Floyd's greatest songs is everything I wish on my funeral. Also he is one of my favorite singers ever aswell (screaming background on pigs - 3rd spoiler - fucking incredible!)

Dimebag. Always. Best all around. Wrote the heaviest riffs and melted your face off with his solos.

Picked this video because it proves why he's the best. See that small 5Watt mini Marshall amp hanging from his neck? Yes he sounded that good through that. Some morons can buy a 3000€ amp head and still sound like absolute garbage.

oh and PS. Kirk Hammet sucks Lars Ulrich's hairy balls... Only one from the original Metallica who has gas left in the tank but that isn't much of an achievement.

best guitarist is a hard call, there are so many song writers that I have immense respect for that I find it hard to make a short list
