I feel zero excitement. I honestly don't understand the hype, the trailer got a million upvotes on reddit. It's not that I don't like the setting, it's great. It's just that I can't stop thinking 'uh, just another battlefield...'

The one in the middle looks badass.

Yeah, it's also not real. It's either from Jin-Roh or Wolfenstein, not sure.

They had to throw a bone to the 12 year old customers... I still consider the making of a major FPS title in a hundred year old setting, to be a bold move. It would be so much easier and safe to be unrestrained by any historical limits, and go for an alien attack future. All sorts of colorful orbs and rays are flying around, people and aliens are flying around, huge robots with legs are flying around too - everyone is fucking happy.
Even if they plague the game with "experimental tesla-guns", especially probable with later expansions, one can count on some minor degree of taste when it has to fit in the rest of the game.

Looks more like slightly reskinned Battlefront, if we are judging by that trailer. But who knows how game will look like two years from now when they finally fix the most annoying bugs

inb4 that's footage from the singelplayer and multiplayer will be like the difference between COD SP and MP.

Hopefully the release of this game will spur the industry back into the WW2 era. Too many futuristic games plaguing the market.

I would love to see EA do Napoleonic. I am personally very excited for BF1.

As long as the game has a hardcore mode to make weapon damage realistic. Nothing worse than playing battlefield on casual damage.

I think i've only played one round of BF4 without harcore, it was horrible. You can go into 3rd person view in tanks/planes. Headshot somebody and they regenerate. It's horrible.

But how in the hell do you implement cavalry? Can you spawn with a horse or is it like a 4x4 in other BFs? Are there limits to what you can use on a horse? What happens when they shoot it?

This is how I assume you would play cavalry in a WW1 game:
- Move foward
- Get riddled with bullets

I don't think it'll even have a singleplayer mode, maybe bots

BOPS1 was set in Vietnam/cold war era but had ridiculous stuff like RC Cars, Motion Sensor and other shit that made it feel out of place.

"modern" motion detectors were invented in the 50ies,  and RC cars were a big deal in the 70ies. heck germans had the fugin goliath, an rc exploding tracked vehicle that was used as urban anti tank weapon.
and the freacking anti aircraft wasserfall rakete,  which came in radio and electrical controlled versions.

edith:  in WWII, that is.
