Hey guys awhile back I had a poll for a DTV tournament and it seemed like a lot of people really would like to do it. I need some help coming up with rules/team sizes/how it would be run/and what maps to play on.



Here's what I got so far:
5 player limit per team
Scoring is based on how many rounds you get in, the further you go the better your score. If two teams complete the entire thing than we will do a tie breaker for who gets the furthest.
Rewards for each person who kills a named bot on the team(screen shot required)
We would do it over a week or two and the teams have to get one of the people running(me and permafrost right now, hopefully some more will be added to help out) to spectate and watch the match.
It would be on the events server if we can get DTV to work on it(havent tried).
Rewards to the first, second, and third placing teams as well. Maybe some titles? Who knows.
cav limited one per team?


Please give me some suggestions and feedback, want to make this as fun as possible. If you have ideas for rewards let us know but its up to dupre on what can be given out.

Should also state very clearly whether cavalry is allowed or not, as you can game the dtv bots somewhat easily with it.

The other thing is that the event you described isn't really a tournament in the usual crpg sense, as there is only one round. That's just semantics though.

Well its a tournament in the way your team is competing against others. And for cav i think it should be limited to one per team at the most.

Idk, I'd strongly advocate for it being hardcore old-school dtv... open village map(s), no cav, no exploiting the maps to keep things fair... just straight up S-keying to victory. The truest test of DTV skill. And I'd suggest not including the bonus for killing the named bots, would just cause teams to fight amongst themselves (although I guess that might be a good thing... weed out the weak teams from the strong ones).

And might I suggest the rewards be something along the lines of:

Tristan_of_Erzoth, The ultimate cock blocker has entered the battlefield!
Tristan_of_Erzoth, Calradia's most effective chastity belt has entered the battlefield!
Tristan_of_Erzoth, The poonanny protector has entered the battlefield!

Totally agree with Jona, old-school hardcore DTV style. No cav, too easy to exploit, hell just the other day we had three people, me ELDAR BOSS and Godwin go almost the entire way because two of us were cav. You just circle them and it's game over for bots. Probably would've gone the entire way and ELDAR BOSS might've, but I had to leave so I don't know what happened after that.

Anyhow, the named bots thing shouldn't affect your score if the true tone of the competition is to get the furthest. I would say limit maps to open maps and no exploitation of bots. No hiding under bridges, or behind fences, or on roofs. Just good ol' S-Key overhead spam to victory!

Maybe 3 maps per a team? I would suggest an open map with cav, open map with out cav, and a small close quarters map(shieldwall).

And when people (admins) are spectating in DTV they spawn a certain amount of bots depending on what lvl they are, and i feel like an extra 5-7 bots could change the course of the round with only 5 people playing.

also this could easily be an EU/NA joint tournament since it isnt PVP. I might not be able to watch over the EU servers for the majority of theirs but I'm sure we could find a few trust worthy admins on the EU side of things to moderate for them.

My biggest concern is time.  Each team could be going for 1-2 hours.  Could add up to a lot if they go a lot of rounds.

Man I loved being the stalwart shielder, protecting my team from hordes of angry bots, camping some doorway until I inevitably got tk'd. Some of those maps were really kickass, too. That one coastal town right on the beach with a couple nord style two story buildings with open faces/walls was my favorite back then!

Assuming this isn't STF only and actually takes place, 1h/pole/shield, LFG. Also, I like Jona's idea for titles as potential rewards.
