Offering a Loom Point
« on: March 17, 2016, 05:11:09 am »

Im looking for a new weapon to loom.

How to win: Suggest a maximum of 2 weapons (preferably polearm or 1h, but i'll consider a 2h)and dont suggest any weapon i already have loomed

(click to show/hide)

i'll (try) to test out all the weapons within a week, and the first person that suggested the winning weapon will receive the loom point.

Edit: And I only have 21 str, so keep that in mind.

Svaerdstav for polearm / Spathovaklion for 1h.

Svaerdstav can be the best weapon in the game if you play it like any other non one hit style 4d, and it's a multi functional weapon (normal pole, hoplite, pseudo "lance" cav, sheathable somehow). Spathovaklion is a beast as I'm sure you know. It's fast, hard to see and defend against, hits like a truck with a little speed bonus, easy to land head hits with.

Both are top tier and fun, as well as being easy to trade on the marketplace

Grosse Messer is a hell of a cut weapon, especially for zero slots. Yet it remains long enough to not be too close to an axe. Also it looks dank as fuck with the loom pack.

Battle fork. Every single person should have a battle fork.

I've been playing with the Svaerdstav for a while now and really like it but couldn't decide if it was worth looming or not, but you bring up some good points. And i was hoping nobody would bring up the Spathovaklion considering i own a 1h bar mace and would hate to feel like a wasted 3 looms if i liked it more.

Anyway, thanks Chester!

Long Voulge, the longest (usable) 4d polearm
Bec de Corbin, 4d pierce and very fast
sorry, realized you have this already
if you are fine with the short length of the Bec, you should give Shortened Spear a try
I loomed mine and don't regret it; it's incredibly fast, low-budget and 1 slot

Mighty Iron Mace! 33 blunt, Knockdown rate: >50%.  My current 1H weapons, very heavy, very powerful! With this, a strong enemy will be afraid. Upkeep super cheap!

European Cavalry Sword; long, strong and the stab isn't completely useless, but still best left for breaking blocks at a distance.

Executioner sword; does ludicrous damage whether you use it in two or one handed mode (39cut as one hander if memory serves).

+3 Spear. Use it in hoplite mode or alone. 31 Pierce as far as I recall on the stabs, with a short but not-too-short weapon they are insanely abusable. 21 pierce on the sideswings, while moderate, is still decent damage in teamfights. Insanely fast weapon.

+3 Nordic Short War Sword. Not really the best weapon around, but my personal favorite I've got to dickride. Just long enough to not be absurdly short, with decent damage and outrageous speed. The sideswing to overhead feints/combos are fucking disgusting, and it is truly difficult to glance on stabs because of the weapon's moderate length.

Chester's right, though. The Svaerdstav is the most genuinely powerful weapon I own. It is probably the very best hoplite weapon, or at least tied with the ashwood or other hoplite choices. But in addition, it is a phenomenal 4d weapon. My favorite thing to do is get a stab or two off with the hoplite mode, press H so I toss my shield which fucks my animation directly over to swinging. Free hit on a lot of people.

+3 Iron Staff

It's like a faster long maul with no crush. Amazing duel weapon, it's fast to match bastard swords but deals bash on all swings equally with knockdown. You can also use with a shield if you have teamates near, knockdown on what is basically a spear stab will secure many kills.

One time (several patches ago) I jumped and thrusted on a full plate gobblin guy and ONE HIT him from head hitbox. Even disregarding that, it's an amazing duel weapon, on par with the bec. Cheaper (and thus easier) to carry as backup to your other polearm weps, compared to bec.

edit: staff, qstaff, and iron staff are all stylish as hell. Go Shaolin Monk or go home.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far
