What's yer point?

It kind of dismisses Berenger's argument that he's a pussy.  (the idea of calling any professional mma fighter a pussy is laughable) He's willing to fight bigger and heavier opponents.  Rather than sit back and just wait for challengers for the belt that he won from Aldo he stepped up to try a higher weight class.  That sounds like a warrior.

I'm just countering xant's quote where he says "1 loss at a division he doesn't fight in"... which is basically the excuse connor keeps making for his loss in the post fight conference.

If he chooses to fight in a certain weight division, he shouldn't use the change required in cutting or gaining as an excuse for his loss. That's just poor sportsmanship.

Far as I know the only explanation he's (Conor) made is that he did not use his energy in the most efficient way, whatever that means.  I don't think he's made any excuses.  He said Diaz was better that day.

How many fights did he do in that division? That's right, 1. He doesn't fight in that division. Period.
This is about being straight out retarded. Children see in slow motion like owls.

I guess it's a matter of opinion and how one chooses to take his words. I'll say this: he was more graceful with his loss than I expected, but nowhere near as graceful at taking the loss as holly holmes.
"...Usually I fight a man in the division I am champion in and they crumble under those shots but nate took them very well, the weight I think allowed him to take those shots very well."

So basically you're saying:
He fought in that division, he doesn't fight in that division. period.

"I am not forgetting about the 155 division, I'm certainly not forgetting about the 170 division..." ~mcgregor in the post fight ufc 196 press conference

Sounds to me like he is still open to fighting in lightweight and welterweight.

There is a difference between having fought one fight in a division and fighting, present tense, in a division. He does not fight in 170. It was a one time thing because Nate couldn't make 155 or 160.

So how many fights exactly does he have to do in welterweight to be considered a division that he fights in?

Does a 2nd fight in welterweight mean he fights in that division? Does he only fight in that division after 5 or more bouts in welterweight?

Who decides these things?

Umm, he's stating a fact.  He's fought in a division where his size and weight compared to his opponents allowed his strikes to be more effective.  I think he was analyzing why he punched himself out but still could not stop Diaz with punches.  He also stated that he was in panic mode at one point.

Facepalm.

Yep you can't even answer that because there is no valid answer other than this:
If he does one fight in that division, then henceforth it is a weight division he has fought in. If he plans to fight more in that division (which he stated he does multiple times), that makes it a division he fights in.

It wasn't a one time thing. Unless you think McGreggor is lying to the public and you know his true plans to shy away from any future fights in welterweight division?
He might have a championship belt in featherweight, but he also fights in lightweight and welterweight. Not sure how you can argue otherwise but feel free.

Excuses can also be facts. It's like a basketball team playing an away game in another arena, and attributing their loss to the fact that the stadium was different than what they are used to in their home court... It might be fact that it played a roll in their loss, but it's also an excuse and poor sportsmanship. It's like saying they didn't lose because the other team was better, but rather they lost because of the home court advantage. (even though nate diaz has fought more lightweight matches than welterweight so its not really his home court either.).

Apparently both English and common sense are very hard for you to understand.

Planning to become a President of the United States doesn't make the President of the United States.

Mcgregor didn't plan to fight in welterweight, HE DID FIGHT IN WELTERWEIGHT!

Apparently reality is very hard for you to grasp.

The fight was nominally in welterweight because it was a 10 day notice with another lightweight fighter. Two lightweights fighting at 170lbs. But I never denied that he had one fight in "welterweight", you absolute moron. You can go back and read http://forum.melee.org/general-off-topic/conor-mcgregor-vs-nate-diaz-live-stream/msg1209953/#msg1209953 until it percolates through your thick skull and you finally understand it.

You are really bad at debating any kind of argument on any level.
Your comparison of planning to be president of united states doesn't make a president of united states is completely asinine. Were not talking about plans here we're talking about an actual welterweight fight that just happened, put on your thick glasses and squint those nerdy eyes to make out a glimpse of reality.

You can't even answer the question of how many fights he has to do in welterweight for it to be considered a division he fights in.

please

There's a reason no one agrees with you, and it's not because of your awesome MMA knowledge mr. "when Conor gives his belt to Nate."

Conor is fighting in the 170 division when he fights 170 fighters.

Yeah I would change the subject too if I couldn't form any kind of valid points to support my argument.  8-)

There, there Xant. Better luck next time.
