historical maps

Has any one tried making maps based on historical battles or sieges?  I need to learn how to make maps but I just wanted to see if this has been attempted before.   

Or even pop culture maps like gladiator opening scene or LOTR scrimmage scenes.

Dayum dont ask me where and when but I remember a thread about this. I also know that there are or were a few maps based on real castles...

Back then on the HRE servers I was looking through all the maps and some them (not in official map rotation) had the names of real castles.
Maybe if Coronoa virus gets rid of 50 percent or more of the world population we can do without a pope and religion.

I made historical maps for NW events and it's a pain in the arse.

Get things right and it takes a lot of time, but the result will be nice I suppose.

Get things wrong and you wasted your time + all the nerds studying history will go crying

I suppose you cant split spawns, since I have never seen it.  But it would be cool to allow a team to have two spawn points to imitate a ambush or pincer attack.

Nope, but you could have a spawn close to an ambush point and then allow the ''ambushers'' to set up, by either having one team wait or just making a large map so that the other team has to approach the area where you want the ambush to happen and then they can set up while the other team approaches.

Then again, one does not easily get ambushed in M&B, especially MP, so I doubt it'll truely work.

take a good look at how ugly cRPG is and you know what's going on
i'm not talking items obviously, some are still very bad but at least the mod is making progress
other mods have hyper-realistic water, beautiful trees that move in the wind, autumn sunset glorious lighting etc.

we have nobody who specializes in landscape textures, scene objects, shaders and the like
as long as you got nothing to use in the scene editor except 1990s graphics, there is a limit to what you can get done with it
the logical next step would be to find bored modders on the taleworlds forum who dedicate their very existence to making video games look nice

if you are dead in battle and browsing the forum in boredom before you respawn on your way to level 38, consider doing this^ instead :lol:

I won't deny that cRPG is pretty ugly, but if you know what you're doing you can still make decent looking scenes.

Besides, you don't need a specialist for better textures, you can either change them yourself or have someone change them for everyone as it's just a matter of copy and paste for a big part, unless you want to make stuff yourself because I am ignorant on that matter
