I'd second these. Might enjoy "Samurai Champloo" but I'd be surprised if you hadn't already heard of it or seen it. "Steins Gate" doesn't have as much action as most of these but you may dig it. "Mushi Shi" is a pretty chill anime I got into- a wandering mushi-master has strange encounters in the manner of "Kung Fu", mushi being strange, pre-biological life forms that are basically everywhere all the time and god help you if you can see/hear them and can't tune them out lol. Might be into "Neon Genesis Evangelion", there are a few different versions and it's pretty much like a bad trip.
