Problem Launching Game - FIXED!!!

What I did to fix the error below, was download the mod on an old PC running windows 7. I copied the files over to my new PC and placed them in the modules folder for warband. Problem solved. Thank you all for your suggestions and I'm up and running once more!!!!

Says:

The magic number in GZip header is not correct. Make sure you are passing in a GZip stream.

System.IO.InvalidDataException

System.Threading.__ThreadPoolWaitCallback.PerfromWaitCallback (Object state) and other shit like this.

Any ideas?

Edit: I'm updating my drivers now, and if this helps, I have windows 8.1.

Try the non-steam version using your steam CDkey, amigo. Think there's a link on the forums here somewhere for 1.143 non-steam, WSE only supports that version (1.143). You could maybe roll-back your steam version of Warband to 1.143, but then you couldn't play Native etc, and I'm not sure how to do that.

Edit: non-steam version I think http://download.taleworlds.com/mb_warband_setup_1143.exe

This is as far as either version gets:

[14:12:40] Downloading version info
[14:12:41] Updating (v4.3.9.0)
[14:12:41] Downloading mirror list
[14:12:42] Downloading file list
[14:12:43] Using mirror download2.c-rpg.net
[14:12:43] Downloading mirror version info
[14:12:43] Downloading scenes.txt
[14:12:43] Downloading WSE/WSELib.dll
[14:12:45] Downloading WSE/WSELibSteam.dll
[14:12:45] Downloading WSE/fmodex_old.dll

Then I get this error:

Any help anyone? I'm going to try and reinstall again today and see if that doesn't work. I was also thinking that if I could get the files as a downloadable chunk and manually install them maybe that would work, rather than having to download them automatically through the installer. From what I could tell is that the issue is with .NET 4.5 framework, prior to windows 8, that was a downloable install, now it's a part of the OS. The magic number thing, has something to do with an error in the coding of the launcher when it comes to decompressing the files I believe, so there might not be much I can do, except wallow in self pity and do something else with my free time.

Edit: Reinstalled again, still totally fucked. GG.

Do you think if someone manually bundles up their extracted files for you and sends a dropbox link that it might work?

It's worth a shot. At least with those files I may be able to launch the game in offline mode if nothing else.

It appears to be a problem with how the extraction is coded for WSE2 that isn't agreeing with the .NET files of anything beyond Windows 7. I could be wrong but that's the conclusion I've come to, after about 15 minutes of extensive research on the internet.

I'll try and upload my crpg folder from within the warband modules folder when I get home (which might not be til real late tonight, so I might forget) unless someone else beats me to it.

This is a very common problem and has happened tons of times before, to get around it simply check the "Offline" mode box and then play, that fixes it for me and many others.

Thank you for your reply Yeldur. I've tried that but the problem is it's a fresh install so I literally have none of the crpg files and therefore it does not work. It just goes to the same error as previously posted.

EDIT: I'm actually downloading this to another PC that runs an older version of Windows and so far so good. No errors yet. Once that done I'm going to transfer the entire thing over to my new PC. I'll let you all know if that works in case anyone cares and/or runs into the same problem in the future.
