How do you explain crpg and strategus to others?

I find it pretty difficult to explain both of them (especially strategus) to anyone who hasn't played the mod. How would you guys explain BOTH of them?

Strategus is the essence of CRPG.

It doesn't matter just how well, accurately, or succinctly you describe strategus.

The inevitable result is the poor motherfucker imagining a perfectly-ported singleplayer campaign map translated flawlessly into a multiplayer experience. Every fucking time I've tried, the unlucky fuck starts getting excited as hell, and I just feel plain awful that they're always, without fail, coming up on a rude awakening.
